<title>LP5 update: Chris Martin confident about new Coldplay record (full Fantastico interview online)</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7068</link>
<description>The abridged Fantastico interview that was aired last month for TV Globo in Brazil has been released in full online, and in it Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland talked at length about the new record due in December, and how previous album reviews have shaped the way they go about the recording process. Watch (in English) the full 20 minute Fantastico interview with Chris and Jonny in the first post of the thread here at the Coldplay forum. You can also find links to download the full interview in the Multimedia forum here [thanks SueDeNimes, iriden &amp; mimixxx]

Coldplay are currently working on new material for their next album in their studio in London after arriving back from their Latin America tour last week. So what of the new record? Chris Martin seems convinced that it will be a success, but the band won't be releasing anything until they're ready. He said, &quot;We'll make sure now we don't release anything until we're 100% convinced by it. Why do we sell records? I don't know but we try as hard as we can to make them good. The one we're making now is really good - it probably won't sell a lot because people don't buy records any more, but it's got good songs on it.&quot;

<title>Round-up: Guy Berryman co-producing The Pierces' album, Fix You for Earth Song 2010, Liam Gallagher rants</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7067</link>
<description>Guy Berryman is co-producing The Pierces' new album with Rick Simpson, according to Michael Brauer, the man who mixed Coldplay's last album, Viva la Vida. Brauer was the one to reveal Guy's involvement with a tweet yesterday, and will also be involved in mixing The Pierces' effort. The Pierces are two sisters from Alabama, and the new album will be their fourth. More on this news is at the Coldplay forum here [thanks iriden]

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has attacked Coldplay's and U2's dress sense, according to the NME today. The former Oasis singer said he hates what the bands wear onstage, and the fact they've been styled. &quot;I can tell bands who've been styled a mile off. U2?&quot; he explained, adding: &quot; There's no way you bought that jacket is there, Bono? Coldplay, they're at it too.&quot; Pretty tame language for the Pretty Green clothing range founder. Join in the Liam bashing at the forum here [thanks Corkus]

Finally, Coldplay's Fix You is the featured music track behind the official video for Earth Hour 2010. You can watch the trailer at the forum now. Don't forget to turn off your lights on March 27th! [thanks In a telescope lens]

<title>Coldplay's former label boss talks about releasing the Brothers and Sisters EP</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7065</link>
<description>Simon Williams is the founder of Fierce Panda records, the much-loved UK independent label which released Coldplay's Brothers &amp; Sisters EP in April 1999. Coldplay.com called him up to chat about his memories of working with Coldplay. This interview comes a couple of days after it was announced on the official site that Coldplay's former label will release Goldheart Assembly's debut album.

Back in 1999, Coldplay released the Brothers &amp; Sisters EP, via UK independent label Fierce Panda. The band have remained firm supporters of the label, and they've asked the official site to let you know about Wolves And Thieves, the terrific debut album by folk-rockers Goldheart Assembly, which is out on Fierce Panda this week. Click here for more information and a free download of a track from the album. Read on for the interview with Simon Williams...

<title>Watch a Coldplay in Barcelona 2009 trailer from Done and Dusted (for a live DVD perhaps?!)</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7064</link>
<description>Done and Dusted, the DVD company behind the release of Coldplay's live 2003 DVD, has uploaded a trailer online to their website for Coldplay from back in 2009 when they played in Barcelona, sparking further rumours that a DVD from the Viva la Vida era will be released. The clip shows a three minutes live performance of Viva la Vida, and includes various audience shots as well as panoramic views from behind the stage.

It is still unknown whether this news will be officially confirmed or if the DVD will also include footage from other stadium shows, including Paris, Wembley and the Latin America concerts, but you can watch the Done and Dusted trailer via D&amp;D's Youtube channel at the Coldplay forum now.

Coldplay apparently filmed the Barcelona concert for a live DVD, Spanish media newspapers widely reported before the concert, and according to the sources, the filming process took place place with a sophisticated camera system that included a high crane installed outside the stadium to capture aerial views of the show.

<title>Coldplay's Oracle on the poor beaten puppets (may they rest in peace)</title>

<description>More questions answered by The Oracle... (over 1200 questions now answered - submit yours now!)

March 15, 2010 - submitted by Flor, Argentina
Q. I'm so curious... what really happened to the puppets? Was the tequila as I've heard? Or the atmosphere in Bogota? It seems that the tour got them tired a lot! Poor puppets... I think they deserve some rest :) Haha .. I really hope you enjoyed the whole tour, thanks a lot for coming. See you soon ... ..We love you! :D
The Oracle replies:
I blame the altitude! I will let you into a secret. I actually left Chris' leg in the back of a car in Rio; it had fallen off and I hadn't noticed. We were reunited very quickly and the following day he was given to the crew carpenter as he had a severe head injury; basically the back of it had come apart. As you can see the puppets took a beating on this gruelling tour and sadly didn't quite make it until the end. It's a shame they weren't photographed well in Guadalajara and of course at all in Monterrey.

<title>Coldplay Roadie #42 - Blog #117 (from stadium to studio...)</title>

So there we have it folks. There goes the final whistle. The fat lady has sung and the world's Vida has been well and truly Viva-ed. Summing up two years of your life in a few words is a little like trying to mow a lawn using only scissors. I could try, but I'd pretty soon have sore fingers and give up. All I know is that I'm ready for a day or two of sleep...

Off the top of my head, I'd say that I'll remember this campaign as the one where Coldplay finally made friends with stadium gigs. They haven't joined the old guard in the greatest hits shows just yet. They also haven't joined the stadium rock arms race of selling tickets on the strength of &quot;having a longer power cable than The Stones used on their 1998 tour - previously the most extensive  stretch of copper used on a rock show...&quot;

<title>KKR and Warner Music talk over break-up bid for Coldplay label EMI</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7057</link>
<description>EMI, which is owned by Terra Firma, the private equity group controlled by financier Guy Hands, could be put up for sale this summer, reports the Telegraph this week. Warner, which has long coveted EMI's recorded music division, and KKR, which is interested in the music publishing business, are understood to have met in recent weeks to discuss how they might structure a bid. However, no approach is thought to have been made and talks remain at an early stage.

EMI, home to artists including Robbie Williams, Coldplay and Katy Perry, is under pressure to come up with a rescue plan over the next few weeks that will persuade investors to back a £120m refinancing to stop the company being taken over by Citigroup, its lending bank.

<title>[Reminder] Have spares of LeftRightLeftRightLeft from previous Coldplay shows?</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7058</link>
<description>As you will know by now, as a 'thank you' to the fans, Coldplay have been handing out LeftRightLeftRightLeft, a free nine-track CD to everyone who attended one of the band's concerts this summer. If you did not go to a Coldplay show in 2009 where CDs were being handed out or simply couldn't find the supplies and therefore not able to receive your very own physical copy of LeftRightLeftRightLeft, worry not!

We have a CD mailing exchange programme where you can sign up to receive a free CD from another member who will have spare copies from the shows they attend - go there for full details. If you have been to a Coldplay show in 2009 and have spare CDs that you are able to share with your fellow Coldplayers, please let us know in that thread also. [thanks Cobalt]

<title>Coldplay label EMI sees management shakeup as future with Terra Firma is in doubt</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7056</link>
<description>The future seems cloudy for struggling music label EMI, reports various internet media sources this weekend. The home of Coldplay, The Beatles and Pink Floyd is seeing a change at the top of its management. This at the same time its private equity owner is at risk of losing control of the label to Citigroup.

On Monday, the CEO of its recorded-music division, Elio Leoni-Sceti, said he would step down at the end of the month. The company also said it would promote Charles Allen to the position of executive chairman. Allen currently serves as the non-executive chairman of the company. Of greater concern could be the owner of the company, Guy Hands' Terra Firma. The equity firm is looking for a cash infusion in order to pay off loans to Citi, which was a big financier of Terra Firma's takeover of EMI in 2007. Hands has purported that Citi tricked him into buying the music label. The two sides are currently engaged in a contentious legal battle.

<title>Coldplay Roadie #42 - Blog #116 (from Guadalajara to Monterrey...)</title>

As I write, we're only hours from the final closing bell on the Viva Tour. The realisation that we're reaching the end seems to have hit everyone simultaneously after the Guadalajara show. The fact that there is &quot;just one more gig&quot; - that the Monterrey show tomorrow is &quot;the last one&quot; flicks the switch and we're all faced with the knowledge that it's the end of this chapter.

We've already &quot;done&quot; the end of the tour once, of course. The Wembley stadium shows were the end of a very long concentrated run. In the back of everyone's minds then though, was the fact that we still had these Latin American shows to do - so it wasn't *really* over. We were just stopping for a while. We mused about this over breakfast this morning. Guy remarked that it's like we've already had the season finale, but the cast has been talked into doing a Christmas special...

<title>Coldplay Live Reviews and Setlist - Estadio Universitario, Monterrey, Mexico (11th March 2010)</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7052</link>
<description>Coldplay's world tour ended in Latin America last night, as they played at the Estadio Universitario, Monterrey, Mexico in the final Viva la Vida concert. Chris Martin dedicated The Hardest Part to his father, and Chris at one point early on in the set had to ask people to move back from the front to prevent people getting hurt in the audience. There was no LeftRightLeftRightLeft CD for the Monterrey crowd but the crowd did sing Cielito Lindo and the band as sat down at the edge of the stage again to listen to them.

The setlist was the same as the previous nights. This means that Coldplay once again played Shiver during the acoustic set. The new song written specifically for the Latin tour, called Don Quixote/Spanish Rain was played once again. Some excellent photos have already been posted to Flickr here and also here. Thanks to everyone who has contributed on the forums, wiki and twitters, we'll have more on this show over the next few hours/days!

Wow. We JUST made it back to our hotel.. Time sure flies. We were present at the FIRST ever VIVA concert back at June 16, 2008 in London / Brixton Academy..and now the LAST one at Estadio Universitario, Monterrey, Mexico..also went to couple other shows inbetween these two at various times in 2008, 2009, 2010..but these 2 dates were extra special. It's amazing to see how they improved themselves.. during this time frame. After I arrived back to hotel..I'm asked myself - if this all could have been any better? The answer is no, it was just PERFECT. The show couldn't have been better as we say our goodbyes to the VIVA tour. It was pure MAGIC. [thanks lo&amp;loud]

the concert was awesome! i went to the hotel after the concert and got there as the same time but security was soooo tight and rude so i had to leave, someone said they were having a private party im still trying to go there tomorrow. I will upload videos and pictures it was AWESOME!!! im so glad they closed their tour here, i feel so proud and it was just what i expected. wow i have no words really [thanks joliefan4life]

<title>[Oxfam's Coldplay Blog] Walk on the wild side</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7051</link>
<description>This morning I’ve arrived in the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey quite early to enjoy the last day from the start. The sun is shining, someone has put Lou Reed on to test the sound so here comes the title of the post (I haven’t slept enough last night so I’m short of ideas). The Oxfam stand is not set up yet, so I’ve got time for an update about Guadalajara’s concert.

The show was fantastic: my confetti shot was the best one since I’ve been using the ‘advanced’ machines. Butterflies came out smoothly until the last seconds of ‘Lovers In Japan’. I think I’ve mastered the art now! And the ola before ‘Don Quixote/Spanish Rain’ was the fastest I’ve seen up to now, so well done Guadalajara! However, today someone told me that the real home of the Mexican Wave is Monterrey’s Estadio Universitario, which is exactly where I am sitting right now, so we shall see tonight what El Volcàno has prepared for us…

Q. First, I must say the show in Mexico city was the best thing ever... I'm walkin' on a dream, I really love you guys. and more than a question I wanna say thank you, because your music for me is the best, it makes me feel, COLDPLAY! is my favorite band since many years. So many people thinks bad things about Mexicans and that we are the worst, but you said you really love Mexico, so why? What is the thing you most like about it? Or what do you like about this country??
The Oracle replies:
I have to say that it's not just Mexico but everywhere on the Latin American tour the fans have been amazing. All the people we have met are so lovely and made us all feel very welcome. Mexico has been so much fun and the Guadalajara crowd were quite possibly the loudest yet even though the venue capacity was the smallest of the tour. Here in Mexico we have enjoyed the hospitality of the people, the food, the climate, the fans and of course the tequila! Tomorrow's final show is hopefully going to be the best night ever as we say our goodbyes.

<description>Coldplay's Viva La Vida tour continued through Latin America last night, as they played at the Estadio Tres de Marzo, Guadalajara, Mexico for the penultimate Viva la Vida tour show. Chris Martin sang Parachutes partially before Yellow - other than that the setlist was the same as the previous nights. This means that Coldplay once again played Shiver during the acoustic set. The new song written specifically for the Latin tour, called Don Quixote/Spanish Rain was played once again. I'm back! It was fucking amazing! It was extremely worth it, my aching back, shoulders, knees, feet... It was perfect! I saw them 2 meters away from the B-stage! I think the setlist was the same except for the fact that Chris sang Parachutes before Yellow!! They also threw 2 bras at Will during the C-stage. I'll write more stuff tomorrow. [thanks Arantza]

according to a guy who has gone to the 3 concerts in mexico so far, Guadalajara was better than the two in mexico city, he says the crowd went crazy (yes, even more), and his argument is that it was because they were playing there for the first time ever. [thanks hugo]

<title>Coldplay's Oracle: Chris Martin to return to studio after Latin America tour</title>

Q. Hi Oracle, I wonder what the band will do now that the tour ends. Take a break? Or will enter a recording time? To be ready when the new album? Many kisses and hugs to everyone, to the boys of the equipment technicians, engineers, lighting designers and all that allowed this to was come reality! Hey hugs to Bat for Lashes they are so talented.
The Oracle replies:
Many thanks to the fans without whom there would be no shows! Guy, Jonny &amp; Will are taking a tiny break but Chris will be straight back to work to continue with what they were doing in the studio before this tour started. Tonight Guadalajara will be the penultimate show and then we're off to Monterrey for the very last Viva gig. I'm thinking it will quite emotional to say goodbye to this tour after well over 150 shows since June 2008.

Q. The concert was really awesome! I'm deeply moved for this life experience! Love u guys!!! My question: it was something crazy to see loads of people selling illegally thing about Coldplay, so what do you think about the informal sale outside the concert?
The Oracle replies:
The band saw that last time they were here in Mexico but everyone else was absolutely blown away by the huge Coldplay market as I called it. So many stalls selling bootleg merchandise and there was even one stall totally dedicated to Roadie #42! We all understand the trade of illegal items in such places and it happens for every touring band. There are funny stories of the 'swag'... I saw one t-shirt that had lyrics printed on the front that made no sense whatsoever; last time the tour stopped in Mexico, Bash - drum tech - bought a lighter with a Coldplay sticker on the front. When he peeled it off there was an AC/DC one underneath! Finally, the band's favourite example of inaccurate merch was when there was a t-shirt that said 'Coldplay' on the front but had a picture of Travis!

<title>Coldplay Roadie #42 - Blog #115 (Mexican singalong and roadie merch!)</title>

Coldplay have history with Mexico. The Rush Of Blood tour finished here at the Palacio Des Deportes in 2003. The X&amp;Y tour also finished up here in 2007. Now, we're putting Viva to bed here in 2010. Of course, there is also the fact that the artist Frida Kahlo was born here - and that she provided so much of the inspiration for the title and spirit of this record. Frida gets shouts out during both of the Mexico City shows. From the B-stage on night one and then (if memory serves correctly) during Politik on the second.

Mexico shows are always a treat, as the crowd are properly berserk. They are incredibly loud - so much so that even though I'm hidden away at the side of the stage and have earphones in, I have to put my hands over my ears at several points because the cheering is so loud it's making my ears go funny.

Home from show. Got to see Marta. She's not working this tour but came because she missed everyone so much. I managed to surprise my BFF Jackie. We were on the rail in front of C stage and when she came out before the band arrival I yell her name and she was glad to see me. Told her I was gonna be at rest of shows. [thanks Texasluvsjonny]

OMG This was the best concert of my life, I was exactly in front of Chris in the 5th row or something, it's like a dream come true, I wished so much for so many years to see my fav band close and finally this night I did it, I couldn't stop screaming and singing, and the crowd was crazy I though I would die in Yellow . I think it was the same setlist than yesterday, hopefully I'll post some pics tomorrow. [thanks Laura42]

<title>[Reminder] Have spares of LeftRightLeftRightLeft from previous Coldplay shows? Still need a copy?</title>
<link>http://coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7044</link>
