im pretty sure if arsene had been at any other club he would've been sacked (unjustly) a long time ago. it's a credit to arsenal that they have kept him for so long and sooner rather than later they will start to win the big trophies again.

Yeah - sadly there's no such thing as long term prospects in football these days.

One thing which was a major factor in Arsene getting the accolade was surely the title winning side he built in 2003-2004 - the invincibles! I've never been so astounded as I have by some of the football played that season.

the only team i think you can compare to them would be the treble winning man utd of 98/99. but of course im a little biased

O'Neill led Aston Villa to sixth in the table last season

West Ham to sack Grant, appoint O'Neill: report‎

LONDON — West Ham are preparing to sack manager Avram Grant and will replace him with former Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill, Sky Sports television reported on Saturday.

The network cited unidentified sources as saying Grant would be axed regardless of the outcome of the club's match against Arsenal later Saturday, following the Hammers' poor start to the season. Although West Ham have slipped to the bottom of the Premier League in recent weeks, Grant was believed to have eased some of the pressure surrounding his position after losing just one match in his past seven games.

However intense speculation this week has suggested that O'Neill, who surprisingly quit Aston Villa on the eve of the season, has been lined up to replace the Israeli coach, who was appointed on a four-year deal last June. Bookmakers late Friday cut the odds on O'Neill becoming the next manager at Upton Park, with one slashing their price from 20-1 on Thursday to 2-1.

On Friday Grant refused to be drawn on the speculation, insisting he was focused only on ensuring West Ham's Premier League survival. "It doesn't concern me. I have a job here and I have to focus on that. I love the vision of the club. It's a big, big challenge," he said. "We have made progress on the football side. We are at the bottom but we are not worse than any of the seven teams down there.

"We are two points from 14th place. I think we are doing the right things. I do not think we will be bottom at the end of the season. If I thought that I would not be here."

What they all expect like 12 trophies every season?

Sorry I just had to make fun of that. [/contribution]

That is great news for West Ham. Undoubtedly a very good manager is Martin O Neil.

3 goals conceded to WOLVES at HOME. Still time to spend £40m on a new defender.

Are you crazy, it's got to be at least £50 million for a defender for Man City

You must give Wolves some credit and respect, they had a chance to get a fourth.

4-1 against Bologna at home, I would have been very surprised if we didn't win it but 4 goals made me extra happy, and we move from 7th to 4th, only 8 points to make up now, still with games in hand.

the fact that Man City needed 3 extra game to go above Man Utd on the table just shows the difference that remains between the two clubs despite Man City's massive spending.
