New Coldplay stamp released by Royal Mail today
Posted on: Jan 07, 2010 - 05:15 PM by busybeeburns

Coldplay news
Coldplay has put its stamp on modern rock over the past decade, and today the band is being honoured with a stamp of a different kind.

Britain's Royal Mail issued a set of stamps this morning featuring classic album covers, including one of "A Rush of Blood to the Head," the 2002 disc that catapulted the group to superstardom. This just in from Anchorman today:

Good morning. The Royal Mail has today issued a special set of First Class stamps featuring classic album covers, including Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head artwork. The Coldplay stamps are available to buy online in strips of five, along with a variety of special presentation packs, by clicking here. The album cover stamps were discussed on last night's Front Row programme on BBC Radio 4, where it was revealed that the Queen personally approved each design! Click here to listen to the show (the stamps discussion begins after 21 minutes). Anchorman

The set of 10 stamps featuring classic British album sleeves will enter circulation on January 7th, according to stamp collecting website Norvic Philatelics. Albums in the collection include 'The Division Bell' by Pink Floyd, 'Parklife', 'London Calling', 'Led Zeppelin IV', 'Power, Corruption & Lies' by New Order, Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica', 'Let It Bleed' by The Rolling Stones, Coldplay's 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head', 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars' by David Bowie and Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells'. Royal Mail are said to have assembled a shortlist of classic albums, though initially some were deemed unusable due to the darkness of the image.

More on this royal news at the Coldplay forum here onwards. [thanks Lore]
