AUSTRALIA: Coldplay To Fly In Next Year

Coldplay fans will finally get a chance to see the band live in Melbourne, but they have to wait 10 months. They will play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre Friday 23rd June 2006, perform Sydney’s Entertainment Centre Monday 26th June and move to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena Saturday 1st July.

Australia will be the final stop on a world tour to promote their third album X&Y. “It’s a fantastic arena show. The band are firing on all cylinders,” promoter Michael Chugg said yesterday.

Tickets for their Australian tour will be sold in a two-tiered roll-out.

Tickets will go on presale on October 6th 2005 [NEXT WEEK!] and on sale to the general public from October 10, from Ticketek. The Australian shows are expected to sell out quickly. A recent Belgian concert sold out within an hour. Tickets will be limited to eight per transaction in order to curb scalpers selling tickets on eBay at inflated prices. Coldplay will play in Brisbane and Sydney before Melbourne.

Concerts have not been scheduled for Adelaide and Perth but Chugg suggests a fan backlash may change the band’s mind. “We are talking with the band about Adelaide and Perth shows, so we’ve asked fans there to make a bit of noise,” he said.
