Speculation Before Release
Last night, Coldplay’s record label tweeted a photo of four shadowy figures with caption “Parlophone Records are delighted to present new signing
#LosUnidades“. It wasn’t until this morning when ColdplayXtra speculated that the four figures resembled a press photo of Coldplay from 2014 and the code in the bottom right of the photo was an anagram for ‘COLDPLAY2018’.
That looks… very…. familiar!? 👀 pic.twitter.com/zIMG7COXpc

The Coldplay community put on their detective hats and found a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter page under @LosUnidades, all created this month. Losunidades.com was also found with the same name servers as the ones used on Coldplay.com. Finally, ColdplayXtra found a trademark agreement for ‘Los Unidades’ registered back in November 2017 with the four band members listed as owners.
Speculation continued and a trademark for ‘Car Kids’, a discarded track from the Mylo Xyloto era, was found, also registered in November of last year. Users on the r/coldplay subreddit speculated that ‘Los Unidades’ is an anagram for ‘Unsold Ideas’, leading to the idea that this could be an album of previously unreleased tracks.
