Coldplay co-write “We’re A Team” with James Newton Howard for Catching Fire (ASCAP)

Coldplay have co-written a song called We’re A Team with James Newton Howard for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie according to ASCAP today. More on this is at the Atlas sub-forum on the messageboard now [thanks CP-EST & Tash]

We’re A Team is affiliated to Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will as well as Howard, and Universal Music Publishing and Universal Pictures Music. It is not yet known whether the song will be the second from Coldplay to feature on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, but there are rumours that it could simply be an instrumental.

Said Coldplayer Mallark on the forums earlier: “A second Coldplay song on the soundtrack isn’t surprising considering that Taylor Swift had two songs on the first soundtrack but the fact that James Newton Howard has also written this song is very surprising and a little exciting.”

In October 2012, composer James Newton Howard confirmed that he will return to score the film The Hunger Games – Catching Fire, after working on the soundtrack for the original film, The Hunger Games (2012).

James Newton Howard is one of the most recognised composers for film and is also one of the most popular and respected composers for cinema, and has scored over 100 films. In 2009 he was awarded a Grammy along with Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack to The Dark Knight, and in September 2010, he was appointed visiting professor of media composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
