aaronm360 349 Posted March 20, 2017 What sort of keyboard does Chris play during the Everglow solo part?
Timothée GRUX 0 Posted April 7, 2017 Chris uses a Kawai K300 upright piano !!!
aaronm360 349 Posted April 7, 2017 No - I mean the smaller keyboard he uses just to play Everglow
Gideon_Mx 3194 Posted April 7, 2017 I actually have no idea, sorry. Maybe in some live videos it is possible to see a glimpse of the piano brand of his piano which he is using during the song.
fuzzyman20 193 Posted April 9, 2017 The smaller piano its a reduced MP9000 with a custom case
aaronm360 349 Posted April 19, 2017 Just as I thought. So Jonny has this same keyboard too, and then the B/C stage keyboard Chris plays just looks different because it's on a custom stand..I wonder how it went 'out of tune' at Glasto then haha..
fexxi 44 Posted April 20, 2017 I don't think that Chris uses a KAWAI MP9000 on the b-stage. The keys somehow look bigger (height) than the ones at my MP9000. But I would also really like to know the answer. However, the shape of the case really looks like the MP9000. But if that is the case, which sound is being used for that keyboard? It doesn't sound like the original MP9000 but also slightly different than the ATX-

Probably some water damage, or some short circuit...or a MIDI problem... The case of the piano, is a wooden case with the reduced MP9000 inside

aaronm360 349 Posted April 25, 2017 They are probably using samples from a piano used in the recording of the AHFOD It's a sample of the Yamaha DYUS1E3 that was used during the GS Tour and early AHFOD before they switched to the Kawai.

Gideon_Mx 3194 Posted April 26, 2017 Just as I thought. So Jonny has this same keyboard too, and then the B/C stage keyboard Chris plays just looks different because it's on a custom stand..I wonder how it went 'out of tune' at Glasto then haha.. That's why I thought it was set up. So Chris could do the song alone (in lower notes) while the others (including Jonny) can take a break or so..... If it wasn't their intention to let Chris sing the complete song in lower notes they would've given him another piano (like Jonny's) for sure !
Koleybolen 68 Posted April 27, 2017 its actually a kawai mp8 with a mod as you can see! im going to post a fix you organ soundfont and a kawai mp9000 soundfont as well!
OdysseasTS 50 Posted June 6, 2017 Coldplay have a really bad history with pianos/keyboards. Their early years they used a Kawai mp9000 (that's the sound we hear until today) From AROBTH to MX they used the Yamaha GT-20 silent piano (no actual string in it) But Yamaha stopped the making and the support for this piano and because none of these are road made they kept breaking. R#42 (Miller) has a blog about ending up with 5 GT20 pianos for one concert (normally there were 3, 1 main, 1 spare and 1 on the B-stage) and using them all! During Ghost Stories they got some new Yamahas DYUS1E3 PE, full upright piano w./ strings and of-course MIDI capability. They used them until the Superbowl (I remember the Yamaha piano breaking down in the St. John @ Hackney AHFOD concert). So from the and superbowl and now on they are using the Kawai - K300 ATX2 (always with a back up waiting on the back left side of the stage). In the beginning of AHFOD they had also a Kawai on the B-Stage (going up with a lift) but probably Chris wanted something shorter so he would be able to look at the crowd. Here come in the keyboards. In the X&Y era a Guy was using a Moog Voyager. In the Viva la Vida and Mylo Xyloto era they used 2xKorg KONTROL 49 But in Ghost Stories they went back to the Moog Voyager and a cut down Kawai MP8 (to about 49 keys). Back in AHFOD we began with the Moog and the MP8 but later on they proved to be not so road worthy so we moved to some simple 49 key midi controllers (I'm not sure about the brand). So today we have: Mainstage: 2x Kawai K300 AXT2 on (1 on the riser and 1 hidden as a spare) 2x Generic 49 key MIDI keyboards (maybe the Korg KONTROLs?) B-Stage & C-Stage: 1x MP8 or MP9000 (I think it's cut down to about 66 keys not 88 nor 49) Also there's a Kawai or Yamaha upright piano waiting as a spare in the B-Stage Note: On the stringed pianos apart from the midi triggering the kawai grand piano sound from the playback racks there are also 2xDPA microphones for blending in the sound.
