  1. remember that anyone can enter lyrics on genius, it is pretty likely that someone just made up these lyrics and posted them without ever hearing the song

  2. This! Yes, i also hope that at least some songs on LP9 will have X&Y vibes. I hope they explore space rock with ethereal ambient/synth sounds.

  3. I'm just hoping there's some sort of resemblance to the X&Y sound in LP9. Moving To Mars is a great example of a non-Oldplay song that's like that. It reminds me of What If. But I also want something like Talk that manages to be a guitar-based anthem as big as something from MX but still has a space rock atmosphere to it. And something like White Shadows or Low that lets the individual band members shine without being hidden by layers of synths, but still has a space rock atmosphere (and real drums). I'm probably asking for too much, but I'm not giving up hope that there will be at le

  4. I think the pre-chorus lyrics sound as they do because they are doubled by backing vocals of the For Love choir (in brackets). As for the bridge, I don't know. So yeah, overall the lyrics aren't great, but we'll have to wait see how they work within the context of the music.

  5. The song has got to be out somewhere and in my opinion, it's only a matter of a day or two at most... also the lyrics are imho real. Maybe a bit cheesy but still NEW Coldplay.

  6. I think the beauty of working with Brian Eno is that he probably isn’t a fan of Coldplay. Like, sure he likes them, but he probably isn’t like drooling to listen to their stuff. So, with that mindset, he can tell them what needs to be worked on/tweaked. He isn’t afraid to poke them. When you work with someone who has made millions on pop music and someone who is your biggest fan, you’re not gonna get the best out of someone. JMO

  7. you can change it, and i did, but they just hid it. I think what I ended up doing was selecting all on a page to highlight the hidden 'themes' option at the bottom.

  8. Slightly different snippet of higher power on tik tok via r/coldplay fyi. seems we cant link, but thats how you find it while you can and if you dont want to look for it, or missed it, honestly not massively different at all from the facebook clip andddd the thread is already deleted, but the clip is still on tik tok

  9. I think that you'll certainly be out of the woods as long as you stick to sharing such questionable links via PMs only

  10. Do you think this one person who has scrobbled it 115 times has got the whole song? I don't think last.fm register things shorter than 30 secs. Correct me if I'm wrong. Personally I think it's out.

  11. I believe Apple rounds up the track durations here, which would still be consistent with Higher Power being 3:31 in length. Would be great if we can hear it on Thursday though...

  14. I for one, like music over lyrics, vocals over lyrics, melody over lyrics. That's how I find a liking to a song.

  15. How's that possible.. but those pre-chorus and bridge lyrics really scares me to be honest

  17. I think we all have to consider the fact that Coldplay has changed since 2010. Those stadium-pop songs are now part of their identity because it was a choice they made a decade ago, or even with Viva la Vida. Imo, i like the fact that they made Everyday Life before because it reminds us that they still have this melancolic-soft rock vibe in their roots. They just chose to explore new horizons and I can't blame them for that. My two favorites albums are AROBTTH and Mylo Xyloto, I'm lucky to love both sides of their music ... But please if you're unhappy, remain respectful with their choic

  18. I see your point, and I totally agree about how our attention span is steadily decreasing, it's something I've noticed as well. I would call a song like BL a huge commercial success, but still in no way a masterpiece just because it ticks all these boxes though. It's a matter of definition. I see no value in managing to appeal to the lowest common denominator. And to be honest i would also blame artists who cater to this lowest common denominator - they are a big part of this supply and demand chain for, let's call it, generic music. And yet a well-composed, original-sounding song with a

  19. You spilled the truth. I seriously don't get the hype about The Weeknd in general. Have you listened to his lyrics? It's sad that people stream and support such a misogynist artist. I mean i'm be no means music expert, but here's my comment. We can't argue, that a lot of the music these days feels generic. But the beauty of a song becoming big or relevant these days mostly lies in something else than just being an original artsy masterpiece. It's freakin TikTok era, where people have attention span of 5 seconds, so in order to make impact with a song, you need to do it in 5 seco

  20. I usually agree with you. This time I'm mixed. The music is definitely generic 80s but that Will beat is growing on me and I'll take generic 80s over the sound of any other decade. I love 80s music. I actually think the lyrics are somwhat unique. Saying you're lucky to be alive at the same time as someone else isn't a sentiment often expressed in pop music. That's too deep. Usually they just say they're lucky to be with the person. I like the higher power lyric. Rather than being sappy and cliche by saying they have magic (and I hate Magic) they're almost saying the person is God-like whi

  22. I could've sworn I saw something earlier that said the song was 3:31, so this makes sense. I can't remember what it was, I think it might have been r/Coldplay on Reddit.
