  1. Agree with that^ However I do believe that Coldplay have become much bigger than their type of music warrants today. I mean they are a household name now and there are more casual fans of the band than ever before who know them only through their hits (Paradise, Viva, The Scientist, Yellow, ASFOS, SJLT). This imo skews their listener profile and so for them to carry these fans to their next album, they need to have Pop songs, ensure relevance by collaborations etc. So today, I don't understand Chris. Imo he's not being honest with himself. They say they don't care about chart perform

  2. they already peaked in production when they put together Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins

  3. Why hello everyone! I can't believe we're finally here! MOTS is out!!! I listened to it about 5 times I think yesterday. They've done it again, they put out a truly surprising record. What stands out is how bold it is, they've made bold choices and therefore it is only normal that opinions are divided. The flaws imo: I do think the flow is less optimal than usual, which is a surprise because that's truly something they have mastered for a while now, a signature of their albums. I do think also that depending on the platform/version you listen to, there are lots of differen

  4. I don’t want music that sounds like what they were doing 20 years ago. Coloratura came out this year, Everyday Life less than two years ago. I want stuff that sounds like what they’re capable of doing now, and they’re clearly capable of a lot better than the bulk of MOTS.

  6. Everybody knows the mums know best, so here are my mother's opinions on the new album. My Universe My mother didn't like it when it first came out but after hearing it for a second time it has grown on her a lot, like it has for me. Humankind My favourite track on the album alongside Coloratura, my mother was positive about this song. I loved the choruses on this song, and my mother did as well. Let Somebody Go She didn't give any opinions on it (although that isn't a bad thing), but she did ask "Who is Selena Gomez?" Bless her. She is my idol. Human Heart

  7. They probably just get lost in the Spheres and find it difficult to get back to our Solar System.

  8. I see in social media lot of messages about people who doesnt want the new album to be leaked and I dont understand why. Nobody forces you to listen the new album before de 15th, but what is the problem to other people listening it? And what is the difference with people who has now the CD and can listen the new album before all of us? I assume that all of us will buy the new album, even if we got the mp3 files earlier. But if we can listen the album the 11 or 12 better than the 15th, isnt it?

  10. I already came to terms with the fact that Coldplay are going through a decline, which is normal for most artists and bands once they start getting old. Artists with high integrity tend to be the exception, and there are others like The Killers who seem to get better with each release. Analyzing Coldplay's long career retrospectively, it becomes more clear to me that they peaked with Viva La Vida, and they weren't able to be as prolific and creative ever since. I'm not expecting that much for their next LPs really, but it would be interesting to see if they will continue to make music with thi

  11. Maybe is to announce that MOTS was a lie to cover the real and big surprise: Higher Power J Balvin Remix and the acoustic remix to complete the Higher Power Infinity Songs...

  12. Not excited? I've been counting down to this Friday since the release of Higher Power! I've taken the day off work Friday, so I can spend the whole day listening to the album, watching interviews, live performances, etc. 😀

  13. I think there low-key is a leak but it’s really only the elites who are getting them not plebs like us!! This is great for Coldplay anyway, means that we will all hear the album at the same time relatively. I’ll be one of the first in the world being in New Zealand, less than 1.5 days to go now!!

  15. Their leak prevention's been good this era, impressive for an artist this huge, even compared to EL - HP didn't leak at all, MU got leaked, but it was the unfinished demo, while the entirety of the album hasn't leaked. It's impressive how many of the "leaks" have been the band basically shooting themselves in the foot - leaving behind alien languages in Barcelona, accidentally posting the Higher Power teaser a week ahead of time, Phil leaving little clues about planets, playing songs during a public event even before the album was announced, Warner and its other companies posting about ot

  17. The thing is, if they didn't release Coloratura the entire Internet's Anti-Coldplay agenda would be in full swing. "They haven't made anything good since Viva!" "BTS and Selena? No thanks!" "I want to see classic Coldplay, not stupid pop dance Coldplay" "Max Martin only does stupid pop songs!"

  18. It's hard to define what good production is & there's a conversation about subjectivity or whatever, but for me MOTS will likely go on to be Coldplay's best produced "pop album" based on what we've heard so far, so that is including it in league with Ghost Stories, AHFOD & MX. And before I get any hate, I wanna make it clear I love these albums/era overall. For me a pop album is about sounding "clean" to make the melodies and catchy choruses hit harder. MX is an oddball because it had some clean sounding moments that miss the mark for me (UFO, Up In Flames) but they still had Eno

  19. El is their best produced album without the help of Eno and Hopkins, but MOTS could be a close second if the rest of the songs are good. But that period of Eno, Dravs, and Hopkins was truly the best - the band truly shone in a live setting, let their experimental side show through, had great ambience and atmosphere in their songs, they pursued different song structures, their most anthemic songs were from this era, they had arguably the weirdest influences during Viva and Mylo, made so many songs in a period of such creativity that the songs are still being used today (Arabesque, ALIENS,

  20. We all have different taste even in Coldplay music. You don't have to like everything your favorite artist does. As long as we respect eachother it's totally fine! I am totally thankful that they have written this masterpiece that is Coloratura 🙏

  22. You don’t become one of the biggest bands in the world without sticking to a system. In Coldplay’s case, that means starting every album with an agreed-upon title that dictates the project’s direction, from songwriting to production style to visuals. “It allows us a little bit of discipline in the studio knowing what we're trying to build,” bassist Guy Berryman tells Apple Music. “If you're building a building without any kind of architect's drawings, you would just start piling bricks on top of each other.” This preparation particularly came in handy in the case of a paralysing global pandemi

  24. MOTS2 has to be the most pointless interlude in Coldplay history imo

  25. As someone who will totally listen to the album once it leaks, I think it's fucked up to ask someone that received the CD earlier to do so, let it be their own decision.

  26. It's very time consuming prepping posts to slate the album, insult Chris's lyrics, the production, cry for the old stuff etc. Luckily we only have to wait a few days for this usual wave of positivity to hit.

  27. In the end of the day the only thing we can expect from Coldplay is the unexpected, that's the fun of it, and also the reason why they outlasted literally every other band that came after.

  28. hot take but a Max Martin X Brian Eno produced album would easily become their best

  29. Hoping for 2.5 hour concerts given the number of good stadium-fit songs Coldplay have accumulated over the years + this era’s songs. update on The Race: A fan spoke to Phil Harvey about it today for the secret album release gig in NY and he pretty plainly said “nothing about it tonight my friend” so I guess it’ll be a while until we get to see this song released. Possibly in a future volume of MOTS

  30. The thing is there was a near-universal backlash on Everyday Life as well, I clearly remember the wave of hate when it leaked a week before the release or so. Reading between the lines on social media, it seems that fans think it's actually great? To me it feels like this has been happening with every album since about Viva. The classic whining of people who want the band to return to something they've been doing 20 years ago, and then those who find at least a couple of songs on the record to listen to, because there's always a big variety. I'm not saying this is their best work,

  37. I also love Ghost Stories! It's such a beautiful and spiritual journey. I love its sounscapes, the sparse arrangements, the ambient sounds... Ah!!! Me too, I always had the same feeling. That sound of waves, of the ocean, is so ethereal and than there is that kind of symphony of bells, almost at the end. I think that part really represents the soul of the album. Anyway, in an interview Chris said that the song reminded him of the pier in Brighton's pebble peach and the end for him was like waking up on the shore with the feeling of "completely giving in to life".

  38. I think Ghost Stories has the most solid production, it all just sounds right. Still my favorite Coldplay album.

  39. Well... the problem is that Coldplay has been at this very tircky point since MX. I understand that people who go to one consert of Coldplay in his life wants or hopes to hear the Coldplay hits, but you as a band shouldn´t make the setlist thinking only in this people. Is fantastic to hear Viva la Vida or Fix You in live, but we have been hearing this song more than 10 years and always hearing the same. Other bands change or adapt their older songs to the sound of the new album, making yhe whole concert with a specific sound and thematic. But Coldplay doesn´t, they play the same songs wit

  41. Was at the Apollo Show… man are fans on this forum in for a treat. People of the Pride debuted and is defintely the heaviest Coldplay song. Probably more than politik? Oh and it’s incredible. Absolutely stunning. my universe sounds great live and the outro is a lot of fun A striking point but it’s kind of wild that Coldplay can go Clocks > Fix You > Viva La Vida — and you’re like 5 songs into the show. Every album got love except EL = (
