  1. Hey folks! FYI I've just created some threads in this LP9 subforum for each MOTS vol1 tracks that didn't have its own thread yet! Please post directly on there when it comes to discussing a specific track so that we can keep this main thread not too messy 😅 Excited to see what your thoughts are on all those songs!

  2. Interesting, because if it's a hidden track as some are speculating, none of the remaining tracks have the length needed for a hidden track, and the one that does we've already heard. But I do think it might be a hidden track, so how could they pull that off? If they manage to hide it completely from the tracklist and only include it when you play the album in full on release day, I'll be very impressed. Also, please let it be THE RACE!

  3. It's interesting that Humankind and Human Heart are both on an album that's set in another solar system. Makes me think the whole album is meant to be an allegory for the diversity and beauty of our own planet. Sometimes people on our own planet feel so far away, as if they do not live in our world, yet we are still one. And, as the great astrophysicist and astronomer Carl Sagan suggested, we are one with the stars as well, because we are made from them.

  4. But what does an Ink vs Everglow war has anything to do with LP9?

  5. I don't understand what any of this has to do with LP9. And first of all the most important thing is that all their videos get views = more money to the band? Second why is it a bad thing if Everglow get views? I don't get it...

  6. Hi I come from year 3042 and coldplay is still releasing albums! This is incredible.

  7. I haven't been posting for a long time but I just couldn't help it. Coloratura is simply GENIUS. Everytime a new song is released it's so exciting to listen to for the first time. But this time I was astonished like no other, it gave me chills...the opening of the song is like a symphonic orchestra tuning. Amazing build up, great production, doesn't feel like a 10min song. I don't think anyone here only listened to it once. It's on repeat for days! It's like a journey through time in the Coldplay universe. It sums up everything they are and everything they've become through 25 years of evolu

  8. it has to be my universe, they need to build more hype for the album

  9. there is indeed one small planet on the album cover that does not correspond to any track... the small one just below Supersolis, maybe a 13th hidden track ? I wonder if vol.2 will have new planets or if it will be a new round in the same system

  10. is there any info about mots japanese version and/or potential bonus tracks? (i do not accept any jokes about the race or rescue st or heart on fire lol)

  11. I am only realizing but I think that the leaked version of My Universe starts with MOTS 2 since Chris starts singing just around the 21 second mark and 21 seconds is MOTS 2's length. It also sounds the same as the snippet in Alien Radio FM. And if My Universe album version lasts 4:45 minutes, we are missing over 40 seconds of My Universe. Maybe that is why it cuts so abruptly in the instrumental part at the end. Also, I would bet that this leak is the version for the music video. It's like what happened with HP, which included MOTS 1 in its video.

  12. We asume it's a demo coming from the AHFOD era. It seems that it's just a proof of concept tho, maybe they made this demo just to see how it sounded, and Chris started mumbling over it, since he doesn't seem to be singing lol! Has a nice chord progression tho!

  13. Jonny's guitar tone in Coloratura is just so gorgeous and it's even easier to tell with this isolated track. He may not be a technical virtuoso, but he's one of those guitarists like The Edge who is just so good at creating such a beautiful guitar tone. And it does wonders for Coldplay's sound.

  14. And we can also listen to the snippet of MOTS 2 more clearly. I think it’s really the same intro that leaked with My Universe. Btw MOTS 2 looks more like an “alien choir” than the snippet of the actual Alien Choir 😄

  15. Every artist always releases their Japenese version with an extra song due to the higher expense of music in Japan. Coldplay have done it since Parachutes and you'll find most artists still always do it.

  16. There's a very high chance it will be My Universe and releasing it in September before IHeart would be wise move.

  17. Just rewatched the Overtura trailer and something just doesn't add up with the planets and the music. Right after Humankind it's out of sync until People of the Pride. The Qubik planet seems to be in the wrong position as well. My guess is that the hidden track is in Humankind or a transition to Alien Choir. Btw you can listen to the snippet of Alien Choir now on alienradio without all the distortions. Just heard it for the first time.

  18. I see that J has been rehearsing the Us Against The World riff. I wonder if it's just for fun or inclusion in future setlists. Have they been reworking it perhaps?

  19. It's difficult to compare openers and closers separately. They all work in the album context really well. From openers Politik and Square One are the best songs for me. But considering how openers work in stadium concert setlist, I think it's a tie between AHFOD and MX/Hurts Like Heaven - both are really effective and work well with visuals. Politik is the opener with the most depth and quality, but it doesn't let the band to connect to crowd that easily. AHFOD does a great job with involving the audience already on 2nd or 3rd minute of the concert + this legendary jump by Chris! It seem

  20. Just so everyone doesn't get excited like me, it's the old snippets played on repeat... not longer versions.

  21. Everytime I hear the snippet I start singing this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yCIDkFI7ew But honestly, a guitar driven song with some heavy drums is all I ever wanted from Coldplay (i.e. Arabesque but then with 'more' Coldplay)

  22. I am really in awe that they have released these isolated tracks - usually very private and behind the scenes, hearing Jonny’s solo isolated is a thing of beauty as were the other three parts too. I am so excited for this album!!!!

  23. Please don't get me wrong, as if i am in any way atacking the band... But, i imagine how cool it would be if coldplay release as song as simple yet with some real emotion underneath as The scientist. I became a fan in 2006, or 2007, so i imagine there is a new single and I press play a The scientist that i never heard before, starts. It would be so good. Sorry for being off topic in a way.

  24. I don't think views are everything in determining the quality of a song. Some of the band's best songs/music videos are their least viewed and least listened to, and that doesn't take away from it's quality - maybe it's just what people prefer (I also prefer Ink over Everglow Live, but I don't mind about it having more views). If the BTS collaboration gets more views that Violet Hill/Trouble in Town/Shiver, I don't think its much of a bad thing. Plus, unlisting it would mean that it will probably vanish from YouTube due to their new rules being implemented.

  25. This is actually pretty cool. Agreee on the openers but on the closers I don't think the band can top ENL. Also UWTB deserves a little more love imo.

  26. I think that’s why I love Coldplay. Forever fearless to try new things! Even if they don’t stick, their courage and creativity is just amazing.

  27. I think the song has good and weak moments. The lyrics arent really intresting, but the instrumentation has some good moments. Ofcourse its fun they make a 10minute track, but i thought it would be better then this.

  28. ^Love that optimism and thanks for sharing! I too will hope for this. There's at least got to be a chorus on the song and I also suspect we'll get some sort of solo from Jonny! I also really, really hope that it's a crazy technical solo like Up&Up, HLH or even Major Minus which is just really intense and distorted. And even if I don't love it, the flip side is that it's cool Coldplay is delivering a rock song in 2021 and trying a new vibe on. Who knows, maybe it'll be one of the top tracks!

  29. That's an interesting thought! Reminds me of a line from Blur's Under the Westway: "Bring us the day they switch off the machines 'Cause men in yellow jackets putting adverts inside my dreams An automated song and the whole world gone Fallen under the spell of the distance between us when we communicate" My personal theory is that the song is about a utopian world that is welcoming of refugees/space travelers but buried inside a love song / "whoa space is so cool" theme. Everyone before is WELCOMING us now -The US is particularly a place that was built on colonialism and

  30. POTP! It's a weird coincidence. I guess it's possible the melody or something from WOTW/POTP gets resused? We'll see. It's a weird song title. This tracks is probably the one I feel most nervous about based on the snippet. Full disclaimer, I'm a huge fan of heavy rock music -- including metal, punk, hardcore, etc. I also just love general indie rock music that incorporates lots of guitar effects and solos and easy-going vibes. This style of rock however, the Muse-esque turn-up-the-fuzz and play a repetitive pompous rhythm is not my jam. Now Muse has some real barn-burners and I think

  31. For some reason, people on Reddit believe this song is actually Life Is Beautiful. Personally, if Life is Beautiful is on MOTS Vol. I, it's track 3.

  32. This is a pretty noteworthy event: October 15, 1997: NASA launched Cassini, beginning the spacecraft's long journey to Saturn. Cassini reached Saturn’s orbit in July 2004 and has been used to collect data on the planet’s composition, rings, moons and atmosphere. The launch vehicle used was a Titan IVB with a Centaur upper stage. Source: https://www.nasa.gov/exploration/thismonth/this_month_oct_07.html

  33. What's so interesting about Coldplay throughout their career is how songs can have a total different feel with production and mixing. Coloratura is a next-level musical engineering experience that feels 10x better put together than Higher Power and the leaked MU. Sometimes music just has such a professional, rich sound to it that just feels classic. The production on this song reminds me quite a bit of Random Access Memories, and given how there's gonna be some dancy songs on the record that might be a good comparison album, given how Coldplay often will give big pop songs, then big rock songs

  34. My profile picture finally has paid off. I don't know y'all this is just too much to take right now. TLDR: My love for this song couldn't be more. I had accepted that Everyday Life might be one of the last moments this band would stay within my music taste, but I never expected this. It's absurdly incredible, it's everything that the band has worked to achieve and in many ways it feels like their singular magnum opus, so far. Longer winding reaction, just like the song:

  35. Yeah, the leak seems to have MOTS II interlude attached to it and... Hot take: Aurora could be the little instrumental bit at the end of My Universe!

  36. Bonus tracks are great, who wouldn't want more songs from Coldplay? They would be especially appreciated with MOTS given there are only 9 proper songs on it

  37. Agree! I don't think TKC functions well as an album closer and Twisted Logic is a much better closing song.

  39. Ooooh that's an interesting idea! Re-worked songs that are changed to sound like they came from The Spheres...

  40. I sort of share this feeling but am optimistic. Sometimes Jonny plays super repetitive solos - eg people LOVE his solo in True Love because yes, it has the most sexy heartbreaking bends of any Coldplay song, but also he just plays the exact same thing twice. I also find songs like In My Place pretttttty repetitive. But perhaps these are a symptom of Chris or the band's collective songwriting choices. But of course we know Jonny's capable of technical greatness when you listen to HLH and Up&Up. That is to say, I hope something really big or unexpected happens in this song, like a huge
