Goodness knows what was in her hors d'oeuvres but the normally cagey Gwyneth Paltrow jokingly fretted her hubby Chris Martin would 'kill her' after she accidentally started spewing details of their top-secret marriage, according to various media sources today.

Starting her slip, she alluded to the couple's different acting and musical careers, admitting: "It's hard! Nothing is as good as it looks. Life is complicated, and there are always issues to overcome. Yesterday, he went to Australia, and I came here; you have to accept that."

But she said their time spent apart is always glued together with 'honesty'. "We're brutally honest with each other," she said before apparently realising she may have said too much. Paltrow then looked to the couple's future, revealing: 'Even if, God forbid, we weren't together in 10 years or whatever, I think we're like a family.'

Chris Martin couldn't squeeze in a Neighbours part due to Coldplay commitments, but he's such a fan he invited the cast to his Aussie birthday party, reports news.com.au.

Martin visited the set eight years ago when Coldplay first toured Australia. He wanted to go one step further this time, but was unable to make any of the three filming options presented to him by producers. "He's a mad Neighbours fan, but unfortunately it just didn't work with the schedule this time," a Neighbours spokeswoman said.

But Martin will still get some time with his Ramsay St favourites at his belated 32rd birthday bash after the band's show at Rod Laver Arena tonight. He has invited Neighbours cast members Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, Kym Valentine, Stefan Dennis and Carla Bonner to the party.

The soap stars will attend the show as guests of the band before being shepherded to a secret location for the party, which will be a traditional Aussie barbecue, with a selection of fish and chargrilled vegies for Martin, who calls himself a piscetarian.

Also rumoured to be attending the exclusive event are Dannii Minogue and Natalie Imbruglia.

Coldplay's Chris Martin celebrated his 32nd birthday at inner-city hot spots on Monday night. But so much for the hard-living rock'n'roll lifestyle. The British rock star reportedly left nightclub The Gin Palace before midnight "sober, on foot and heading back to his hotel".

It was Martin's father who was was the last man standing, having stayed on at the upmarket bar after his famous son left. "My dad is more of a rock star than me," Martin said yesterday. "He embraces the lifestyle."

The low-key celebrations started at top tapas CBD restaurant MoVida, where Martin booked a table for four. The Coldplay crooner was accompanied by his manager, father and one other guest, and arrived around 7pm. But it wasn't the champagne-soaked dinner one might expect from your average rock god. Instead, Martin was seen sinking a couple of quiet beers with his dad and talking with guests in the restaurant.

Robert Downey Jr. shed the pounds to play the title role in upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes - on the advice of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, according to ContactMusic today.

The Iron Man star is currently filming scenes as the fictional detective in a new big-screen adaptation by director Guy Ritchie. Downey Jnr. has slimmed down considerably for the role - and credits good friend Martin for shaping his portrayal of the iconic supersleuth.

He says, "He's a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. He said to me before we began 'You've got to be gaunt. You've got to be as skinny as you possibly can to play Holmes.' So every time I'm reaching for a muffin I just think about Chris Martin and skip the snack. That's been tough."

On stage at the War Child concert at the renamed O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Chris was upfront about the disappointment of walking away from the bash earlier in the evening without a single gong – despite being nominated four times.

As soon as Coldplay’s set was over, Gwyneth joined her hubby backstage where the couple schmoozed with Bono, The Killers, Natalie Imbruglia and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant, shunning the main party in the VIP bar. But it wasn’t a totally rock’n’roll night, as theBuzz can reveal that, backstage, the bands were dining on fresh fruit and Warburtons bread. Gwyneth Paltrow is delighted her Coldplay rocker husband Chris Martin swept the board at Sundays Grammys - because he and his bandmates work "so hard". Coldplay walked away with gongs for Best Rock Album (Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends); Song of the Year (Viva La Vida); and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals (Viva La Vida).

Gwyneth Paltrow kept things comfortable on her way to meet up with friends for lunch in LA after a big Sunday night at the Grammys. Despite rumors, Gwyneth and Chris didn't end up appearing at the event together, and when asked why she said, "It’s cheesy... I mean, who wants to live like that?" At least she gave her husband a wink from stage when she was up introducing Radiohead.

And Paltrow couldn't be happier. "I was screaming backstage," the actress gushed to E! News. "I was over the moon because those guys work so hard. They're so, so dedicated, and they bleed, sweat and cry to get it all perfect."

They made a pact never to be pictured together but now Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to walk the same red carpet as husband Chris Martin – to scotch rumours that their marriage is in trouble, the Daily Mail have reported.

An embarrassing pant-flashing incident live on stage has kept Coldplay’s feet on the ground. Guitarist Jonny Buckland admitted: “It was in America. Splitting my trousers on the run back from the C-stage bit was pretty hair-raising.”

And the quartet are still coming to terms with their success. Jonny, 31, added: “I had an awfully embarrassing moment with somebody, who I won’t name, when I waved to them. Then I thought: ‘Oh no, you idiot. You don’t know her. You have only seen her on TV.’”

Chris Martin is one of the most recognisable frontmen in music to those of us who like our tunes. But the Coldplay singer says a woman who works next door to the band’s Bakery studio in West London is convinced that he peddles insurance for a living, as a door-to-door salesman, The Sun reports.

Chris said: “She asked me the other day if I was in insurance. And if it’s not insurance or a lawyer, it’s another singer. The other ones I get are James Morrison and James Blunt and I always say, “Yep!” because you should never disappoint somebody.”

But one man he wouldn’t mind being mistaken for is Kings Of Leon lead singer Caleb Followill. He told Xfm: “If I could sing like that I’d be massive!” Chris spends most of the time with his tongue firmly in his cheek, though. Talking about the band’s biggest single, Viva La Vida, he said: “It’s an old song, it’s not very good, but it did OK.”

Meanwhile, he is recommending a band called Naturally 7 as one to look out for. I had a look on t’internet and they are pretty impressive considering none of them play an instrument, just make their own noises. Sounds like an interesting collaboration could be on the cards.

The Script have revealed in a recent interview that Coldplay and U2 invited them to their Christmas party following Coldplay's Dublin concerts in December last year. Here's an excerpt from their interview with The Star:

Singer Danny O’Donoghue, 26, right, revealed: “I went to see Coldplay when they played in Dublin before Christmas. I was trying to walk to my seat and kept getting mobbed by autograph hunters, so a security guard took me aside and asked if I’d prefer to join Bono in his private box. U2 and Coldplay threw a Christmas party after and invited me. I always hoped Bono would be as nice as I thought he was, and he said some great stuff. Out of respect to him I want to keep exactly what he said private but he gave us praise and said he liked the band, in front of Coldplay. I had a couple of glasses of wine because I was so nervous.”

Danny went along to the gig with a copy of The Script’s album, which has now gone double platinum after selling 600,000 copies. He continued: “I thought if there was a chance to mention getting a support slot with Coldplay I should get in there. I was about to hand the CD to Guy Berryman but he said he didn’t need one as he’d already heard it and liked us.”

When Chris Martin decided to sign Girls Aloud as support for one of Coldplay’s summer shows, he used a special booking agent – his missus. The singer called each of the girls individually to ask if they would open for his band at Wembley Stadium on September 18.

And in case Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle had any doubts about how serious he was, his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, chipped in on the phone.

When Chris was on the blower to Cheryl, Gwynnie took the handset and sang a few lines from their 2002 hit Sound Of The Underground to seal the deal. A source said: “The girls were buzzing to get a personal call from Chris. They never thought he would be such a big fan. Camera coy couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are plotting a rare photo opportunity together following fresh speculation about their marriage.

The Coldplay star and his Hollywood wife are reportedly planning to break their irritating pact of being photographed separately at all times to put on a defiant show of unity on the red carpets at the Grammy Awards on February 8. The publicity plan coincides with a fresh denial from Martin who insists his marriage is not in tatters. 'I'm trying to think of when the last bit of bad news was' said the singer. 'Well there hasn't been anything for a while. I'm supposed to be getting divorced but those things aren't happening so don't really count as bad news.'

Martin's fight back comes after his Coldplay lads were nominated for a staggering seven gongs at the event. Even his own mother-in-law, actress Blythe Danner, has stepped forward to defend her daughter's marriage and the absence of public sightings.

'They don't take pictures together if they can avoid it. It's a strategy. They don't want the pandemonium', said Danner.

Earlier this month the spotlight was again cast on the aloof couple after Gwyneth spent time partying in Miami keeping a watchful eye on good chum Madonna's friend, Alex Rodriguez. But Paltrow, 36, has been keen to show she is the ever supportive spouse, attending all of Coldplay's recent shows at London's 02 Arena.

And while Gwyn may have been proud of her man's performances, Martin says he is unhappy at his band's stage shows. The down beat 31-year-old told Radio One: 'I would give them a 3 out of 10, that's good for me!'

Because the Coldplay star decided to snub the chauffeur-driven limo and jump on the Jubilee Line to go to his own gig. He told the Mirror: "I was reading your column on the way here on the Tube. I like getting the Tube sometimes to walk into our own gig. You get charged up from the atmosphere. No one recognised me. I just bought a Mirror and kept my head down and got off with everyone else. But then security stopped me at the door and I had to explain who I was. That was a bit embarrassing."

Chris Martin & Gwyneth Paltrow celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in London over the weekend (6-7th December 2008) - brushing off rumours their marriage is in trouble.

The couple - who have two children together - wed on 5th December 2003, but they have recently been dogged by rumours of an impending split. And speculation about their relationship mounted on Friday (5th December 2008) after Coldplay star Martin was pictured leaving the family's London home alone, carrying his guitar.

But a representative for the Hollywood actress insists that the couple spent the landmark day together with their children. The spokesperson tells the New York Daily News, "(They) had a lovely day celebrating."

Coldplay’s guitarist, Jonny Buckland, has paid $3,400,000 to buy a two-bedroom, 2,107-square-foot condominium unit in a 116-year-old converted loft building in Manhattan’s East Village area.

The New York Observer’s Ben Abelson broke the story online on Tuesday morning of Buckland’s purchase of the sixth-floor, corner unit, then elaborated on the purchase in the paper’s “Manhattan Transfers” column. Indeed, records show that Buckland, 31, went to contract on the unit on September 10, with the deal closing on November 17. The deed was recorded with the city on Monday.

The Observer bent over backwards to emphasize the location of the building where Buckland bought, which is why we don’t mind also reporting that the 50-unit building’s address is 21 Astor Place.

Features in Buckland’s new unit, which had been listed for $3,550,000, include two and a half baths, loft-like windows, exposed brick, 14-foot-plus ceilings, an unobstructed view of Cooper Square and the famous Cube, custom recessed lighting throughout, a dramatic foyer (”perfect for showcasing your art collection,” as Abelson noted), extra-wide oak wood flooring, a washer/dryer hookup, soundproofed bedroom windows, central air conditioning, a custom tailored large closet space and an open Poggenpohl chef’s kitchen with a Viking refrigerator, a Bosch oven and range, and a Miele dishwasher, according to listing information. Chris Martin says the only thing he can't get in America is "laid", MyParkMag report today, in a spin off of The Times article recently published.

The Coldplay frontman, who is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, enjoys touring around the US but misses his wife and English chocolate bars when he is away from home. When asked if there is anything he can get in Britain but not in America, Chris smiled and replied: "Laid. Oh and maybe a Toffee Crisp."

Chris admits being a global music star can get lonely and he has sometimes considered running away and starting a new life. The rocker added: "There has been a few times when I have been on the Serpentine River in London where I have thought, 'I am going to ditch this pedalo and run away to Brighton'."

Despite the pitfalls of living in the public spotlight, Chris feels most at home when he is performing live and is dedicated to energetically entertaining his fans. The 31-year-old musician explained to Britain's Times 2 supplement: "I split my trousers for the first time on stage recently. I aspire to ripping my trousers. It shows I am enjoying myself."

Chris Martin is also reluctant to cook for his family - because his last two attempts have ended in disaster. But Martin admits he is not particularly domesticated and his culinary skills are his biggest failing - because every time he cooks, the fire brigade turns up outside his house. He says, "Last year, in an attempt to impress my family, I tried to cook some fish and peas, but I forgot to turn on the vent. And the thing about our fire alarm is that it's connected to the fire station. So the fire engine comes around, and I was in a panic. I said, 'Guys, I'm sorry. There's no fire'.

"Then, two months later, I said, 'Right - I'm gonna have another crack at this' - and the same thing happened. Just as I'm running outside, the fire engine pulls up and the fireman says: 'Have you been cooking again, Chris?' So then I had to take a walk because I was a bit shaky. As it happened, the fire engine was going the same way, and they said, 'Do you want a lift?'"

London, England - Lead singer for the English rock band Coldplay stunned the music industry Wednesday when he announced that the band was breaking up in 2009.

There have been rumors swirling about why the band decided to split. Those rumors were answered when it was discovered that Chris Martin's life is going to mirror the song "Viva La Vida", which was Coldplay's enormous hit this year. Martin dressed in regal attire explained to the reporters gathered outside his London flat that the song "Viva La Vida" was in fact his future kingly intentions. That as of 2009 the band was breaking up so he could finally rule his own country.

He also told the reporters to refer to him and his actress wife, Gwyneth Paltrow as "your Royal Majesty", and their daughter Apple as "your Royal Highness".

Reports say that Chris Martin was finally fed up with the British government. Martin is now looking for his own country to implement his own governmental policies, preferably one he can rule. In 2005 Chris Martin snubbed Prime Minister Tony Blair because of the Iraq War and Blair's governmental policies. Many of those same policies Prime Minister Brown has continued.

Martin told befuddled reporters that he would prefer to rule a large rich country like a Saudi Arabia, instead of small principality like Monaco. He said countries like tiny Lichtenstein would not do unless that country was the Vatican City than that would be sufficient. Martin also added that the Vatican City would suit him just fine as long was he was crowned pope and referred to as "his Holiness". He stated he would not mind wearing the papal hat because it would hide his receding hairline.

Martin said he would be a generous and benevolent king and all his subjects would get free copies of the bands latest CD.

Duffy set fire to her hair just seconds before meeting Chris Martin.

The Welsh-born singer has revealed the embarrassing encounter with the Coldplay frontman which took place at a concert in Cleveland, US, last week. She said: "I was in the dressing room and I had dimmed the lights, then I lit this candle and it started melting a bit.

"I thought, 'Shit!' and started blowing it out. I got a cloth to wipe it and bent down, not realising it was still lit. Then the entire left side of my hair went up in flames. At that moment Chris was walking down the corridor to say, 'Hi'. I hadn't met him before and the place stank of burning hair. Somebody came in and said, 'Is someone cooking chicken?'

The 'Rain On Your Parade' singer managed to cut the "black crumbs" out of her hair, but struggled to cover up the stench before Chris came in to greet her.

She added in an interview with Britain's The Sun newspaper: "It was really bad and properly embarrassing. Chris could smell it. You couldn't avoid smelling it. Can you imagine if I had gone up in flames? Nightmare. I honestly saw my life flash before my eyes."

Coldplay's Chris Martin has found a secret songwriting mentor in Echo & The Bunnymen star Ian McCulloch - and often texts the Killing Moon singer when he's run out of ideas, reports ContactMusic.

MCCulloch reveals Martin quizzes him about songwriting techniques and even steals Echo & The Bunnymen samples for Coldplay hits. He says, "When Coldplay was doing their second album I walked into the studio in Liverpool, where they recorded it, and Chris said, 'Hey MAC! We're sampling The Cutter intro, but we're having some difficulty making it not sound like the Bunnymen. I said, 'Just fucking use it.'

"I think Chris is great. We text each other, like, 'Hello MAC-o! How do you write lyrics that are good?' I say, 'Either you've got it or you haven't. Do some crosswords, watch pornography.'"

Chris Martin was "just fooling around" when he punched a reporter at London's Q Awards this month, a pal of the Coldplay frontman tells the Daily News (New York).

Martin had revealed to Paul Rees, editor of Q music mag, that he and Gwyneth Paltrow have what some married couples call a "Get out of jail card" - an all-access pass for one affair. Paltrow was OK with Martin's choice of any of the members of Girls Aloud, and he'd approved the guys in Westlife for her. But according to holymoly.co.uk, when Rees countered, "You could have at least told her Brad Pitt," Martin blurted out, "She was engaged to him, you f-ker!"

Rees tried to apologize and put his arm around Martin, who swiftly punched him in the chest -- in jest? But Chris, really -- Girls Aloud? Talk about going out for hamburger when you have steak at home.

Coldplay appear to be on their way to conquering primetime television, judging by their music being featured during programs all over the world.

Coldplay's 'Lost!' was played at the end of Ugly Betty last night, and '42' was featured during an episode of CSI. Viva La Vida was featured on the first episode of the new version of Beverley Hills 90210 in the US and in the UK the same song has been backing music for Sky Sports coverage during Premiership games.

This all follows on from the first LP4 era soundtrack clip back in May when Death And All His Friends was featured during Grey's Anatomy.
