Simon Pegg has written a song with Chris Martin - the 'Hot Fuzz' actor and the Coldplay frontman penned the track, titled 'A+E' together, to poke fun at 'Talk' from Coldplay's album 'X+Y'. In the UK 'A+E' stands for Accident and Emergency the name given to the walk-in ward at hospitals.

Pegg jokingly said: "The song we wrote is called 'A+E'. It was written in chords of A and E, and its all about injuries, 'If you've got a broken finger or a broken toe, if you've got a crushed thorax, there's only one place to go.' I reckon it's better than most of the stuff on their albums."

Comedian Pegg is no stranger to working with Coldplay. He sung backing vocals on the track '1.36', a B-side to 'The Scientist' released in November 2002. He also once played harmonica live with the band at the V Festival in England. Pegg is good friends with Martin, 31, and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 35. He is also godfather to their three-year-old daughter Apple. The comedian-turned-actor has also defended Martin's public image, insisting he is mistakenly seen as a dour character. Pegg said: "The image built up of Chris is that he is he's a misery guts - but he's actually a ball of energy and hilariously funny. He always phones me up pretending to be someone else - often someone Scottish!"

A source said: “Chris has been in absolute agony with his knee. He’s had to strap it and has been hobbling around the place. He doesn’t want to cancel the show so is going to fight through the pain barrier.”

Chris Martin is upset at Coldplay's meagre take-up in the karaoke market.

As the band gear up to release new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends', The Sun reports that the next phase of Martin's quest for ultimate musical power is the karaoke bars of the world. He apparently said: "I'm really determined that there should be more Coldplay songs in karaoke bars. I've been into them and you open the lyrics book and there are a million Beatles songs. There's dozens of ABBA, Culture Club and even Bucks Fizz, but Coldplay? There will be two or at most three."

But Martin has a solution: "If we could just get eight in every bar worldwide I'd be happy. I would know we've made it. I think there are three karaoke possibilities on 'Viva La Vida'. It surely has to be the ultimate measure of success."

He also admitted to being no stranger to the pastime himself: "I got up in a bar one night with my mate Tim Wheeler (from Ash). We did 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. It was appaling."

Meanwhile, the Daily Star report that Chris Martin has called Amy Winehouse: “The best singer I’ve heard in my life, apart from Beyoncé.” Talking to www.mtvnews.co.uk, the Coldplay frontman, 31, also raved about The Ting Tings and Rihanna, 20. He added: “When you’re as talented as Amy or Beyoncé you only have to have good songs. They’re beyond brilliant to me.”

Coldplay’s new album Viva La Vida has become the best-selling album pre-sale in global iTunes history. Take that, doubters.

Chris Martin has apparently revealed the person who leaves him most starstruck is Stephen Fry.

The Coldplay frontman is no stranger to A-list company - he is married to Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and counts Madonna and hip-hop star Jay-Z among his friends - but revealed to The Independent that he's humbled in the presence of the British actor and comedian.

Chris said: "I went through a period of thinking, 'Oh, I won't say anything to Stephen Fry if I bump into him because he doesn't want to hear it', but then I thought, 'Well actually, that's nonsense'. I got to meet him the other day and I was very starstruck around him but it made me happy to say, 'I think you're great and thanks for all the pleasure you've given me'."

The 31-year-old singer has much in common with Stephen - they both went to public school and are big cricket fans, so they should have something to talk about. Chris makes the revelation in an upcoming interview on Virgin radio.

Because of the still-smoldering fires on the Universal Studios lot, most — and by most, I mean all — of the restaurants surrounding the Gibson Amphitheatre are closed. Well, closed except for the 30 minutes when they were all open, which is when I managed to score some sushi, which is also when Chris Martin enters into this.

See, while I was crushing some California rolls, the restaurant decided to shut off food service again. Minutes later, I see a rather tall fellow in aviator shades waving frantically at me from across the promenade. (That sentence reads particularly Victorian for whatever reason.) Startled, I realize it’s none other than Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, whom I chatted with yesterday during rehearsals.

Turns out, he was starving, and was having no luck finding an open restaurant. Dazed, he saw me and wandered over. “Can I please have some of your beans?” he pleaded, pointing at my edamame (the photo above captures him mid-plea).

Of course, I gave him some, while my lunch buddies — not to mention a gathering throng of gawkers — looked on in awe. Sated, he thanked me and wandered back into the backstage area. And I wrote this blog entry about how I had a sushi lunch with Chris Martin.

Bizarre's Smart Gordon has been leafing through the latest issue of Q magazine and his observations on an interview the mag featured with the Coldplay frontman are thus: "Chris Martin has come out - as a fan of Oirish balladeers Westlife," chortles the Sun man. Hilarious. Gays are so funny, as we all know.

But not as funny as Martin's confession to Q, in which he reveals, "I dreamt about Radiohead last night and Westlife the night before. Which is the perfect blend of what we're trying to do." Man alive, Martin really likes to self-deprecate. Or rather he knows how to shoot himself in the foot.

The music of Coldplay is the most likely to send you to sleep, according to a survey held by hotel chain Travelodge.

In the poll, called The Kip Parade, the hotel surveyed 2,248 people asking them which band’s songs are the most likely to send them into a slumber. The rest of the top five was made up by James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones. Jordon’s autobiography was voted as the book most likely to lull readers into sleep.

Leigh McCarron of Travelodge said: "The research shows that we are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and unchallenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living, to help us switch off and get to sleep at night. Coldplay and Jordan seem to hit just the right spot among Britain's insomniacs."

Singer Beyonce Knowles [pictured] reportedly wed rapper Jay-Z on Friday, a source close to the couple told People magazine.

The couple reportedly followed their private ceremony with a star-studded reception that included Destiny Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Tina Knowles, Solange, and close friends Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin, and Jay-Z’s close friends.

Just before 8 PM local time, Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, pulled up to the locale, where a rooftop event, believed to be the nuptials of the singer and her beau may be taking place later tonight. Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmates – Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams also arrived, but hid behind an umbrella as Gwyneth and Chris were mobbed by paparazzi on the scene.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother Blythe has insisted her daughter’s marriage to rocker Chris Martin is not in trouble, stating that they are both “happy, happy people”.

The Sliding Doors actress and Coldplay singer have not been spotted in public recently, fuelling speculation that their relationship is in jeopardy. However, Danner has dismissed rumours of any friction, saying: "Oh good god! It's just tragic that people have to make up stuff and write stuff.”

"I've never seen two happier parents and people. Happy, happy people. I don't get it. They're saying Gwyneth isn't going to go back to work, which is a lot of BS (rubbish) too. She very much wants to go back to work. I think unfortunately you have to do your research and not follow the hearsay."

The grandmother of Gwyneth’s children, three-year old Apple and one-year old Moses, also confessed that her daughter is trying to balance work and family life.

She tells OK!: "She's a great, wonderful actress. But motherhood is very important to her, as it was to me, and she's finding the balance. And it's hard to find that balance."

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was admitted to University College Hospital last night after breaking his arm playing the popular game 'Guitar Hero'.

A black SUV approached the hospital at 5pm yesterday, driven by his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, a hooded Chris then jumped out and quickly entered A&E. According to a hospital source Chris was complaining of a sore wrist and was later Xrayed. The source says: "He was very pleasant and patient, he waited just like everyone else and was cracking jokes about being unable to play a plastic guitar."

The singer left the hospital later that evening, ignoring the well wishes of the photographers waiting for him. A rep for Mr Martin could not be contacted for comment.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed what many non-Coldplay fans have often suspected – her husband’s music sends people to sleep.

But far from being a dig at Chris Martin, her revelation was a tribute to his hands-on parenting skills. Gwyneth said the singer’s biggest fans are their children – daughter Apple, aged three, and son Moses, nearly two. And the Coldplay frontman can often be found singing as he puts them to bed. “He sings lullabies all the time. He’ll sing funny joke songs. They love his music,” she said.

The couple both retreated from the showbiz spotlight after starting a family in 2004. Gwyneth, 35, cut back her filming schedule while 30-year-old Chris has spent the past two years recording Coldplay’s fourth album, due out in May.

Stars including Demi Moore, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow have been urged to get a vaccination against Hepatitis A following Ashton Kutcher's 30th birthday party.

The New York City health department has expressed concern after it emerged that a member of staff at Manhattan's Socialista bar was infected with the disease. Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Catherine Keener, Javier Bardem and Lucy Liu are also reported to have attended the bash on February 7.

Other famous names in attendance included Salma Hayek, Ivanka Trump and designer Roberta Cavalli. Any visitors to the West Village bar on February 7, 8 or 11 are being encouraged to have a hepatitis jab as they are deemed to be "at risk and need a preventive shot".

Between 700 and 800 people are thought to have visited over the three nights, but no cases arising from the venue have yet been identified. Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by the Hepatitis A virus and is estimated to affect up to 10 million people each year.

British rocker Dani Filth wants to go head-to-head with Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin in a boxing match.

The founding member of extreme metal band Cradle Of Filth has branded indie frontman Martin a "sap" saying he would be his first choice to have a fight with. He says, "Probably that c**t Chris Martin from Coldplay. I wouldn't even wait for the bell. "Absolutely everything about him makes me want to puke. He's such a sap, and the way that he wrote that s**t about 'freedom' on his hand was pathetic.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has vowed to stay away from the U.S. after a recent traumatic confrontation with photographers in New York.

The Oscar winner was pounced upon by the paparazzi during a visit to Manhattan's Mount Sinai Hospital last week (14Jan08). Paltrow insists the media attention in American is much worse than in London, where she lives with her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin and their two children Apple, three, and one-year-old Moses.

A friend of the couple tells U.S. publication the Chicago Sun Times that the star has vowed to rarely "cross the pond, unless I absolutely have to for work". The source adds, "Gwyneth was truly frightened by the intensity of the whole thing. She was feeling fragile at the moment and didn't need to face that." The couple was overwhelmed by photographers when they left the New York medical centre where Paltrow was being treated for "a gastrointestinal situation". Martin was later videotaped chasing a member of the paparazzi and grabbing his camera while shouting, "You've gotta have some respect".

A savage new video featuring footage of Coldplay star Chris Martin attacking a paparazzo has hit the Internet. The mild-mannered singer is seen chasing down a photographer trying to get shots of his wife Gwyneth Paltrow as she left a New York hospital earlier this week.

With an anorak hood covering his face, angry Martin repeats, "Have some respect," as he wrestles the photographer to the ground and snatches his camera. But the snapper's pal retaliates as Martin climbs into the back of an awaiting silver sports utility vehicle, and hisses, "You give it (camera) back to him or this door's getting broken."

The British rock star sees sense and hands the camera back, calmly stating, "You've gotta have some respect."

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was admitted to New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital on Monday afternoon for an undisclosed reason. The same morning, the mother of two appeared healthy as she jogged through New York City while listening to her Ipod in an all-black workout outfit.

According to Usmagazine, the Oscar-winning actress was slumped over in a wheelchair and being pushed by husband and Coldplay singer Chris Martin when she arrived at the hospital. Later that day, a bag labeled "Gwyneth Martin" arrived from the NYC health food store Organics Avenue.

Perhaps her macrobiotic diet is to blame? "She's doing our five-day live-food fast," a store employee tells New York magazine's Daily Intelligencer. But she's not fasting fasting. "She's eating salads, there's juices. There's actually quite a bit of food there, it's just all raw and organic."

What sayeth her rep? "We are not commenting as it's a personal matter."

Gwyneth Paltrow has been admitted into hospital - sparking new concerns for her health. According to US reports, the 35-year-old actress was taken to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital "slumped in a wheelchair".

While a spokesman for the Oscar-winning star refused to elaborate on her condition, US Weekly magazine revealed she was taken to casualty by Coldplay frontman husband Chris Martin. She checked in under her married name Gwyneth Martin, with one onlooker adding: "She looked not well."

Within hours of arriving at the hospital, the American star and mother of two received a delivery from US organic home supply shop Organics Avenue. Although the reason for her visit is not known, a source told the publication she stayed overnight.

Last night speculation emerged that Miss Paltrow's recent hectic work schedule, combined with the demands of motherhood, were to blame for her latest troubles.

She recently finished filming the sci-fi action movie Iron Man for which she lost weight and completed an arduous fitness program. Just weeks later she began filming for her next role Two Lovers, opposite Joaquin Phoenix, which again saw her working over much of the Christmas and New Year period.

Meanwhile Britain's Daily Mail newspaper also reports there have been ongoing rumours of a rift between herself and Martin - although these have always been vehemently denied by the couple. Despite the fact both parties have high profile careers, the couple has always been extremely hands-on parents, managing to combine hectic work loads with a stable family life.

A spokesman for Miss Paltrow declined to comment.
