Jonny Buckland, guitarist with the right-on ‘green’ Coldplay, has sent a rush of blood to the heads of conservationists in his manor.

He’s just been given the go ahead to chop down two trees at this house in leafy Hampstead, North London, so he can build an extention. I can't stand that song!"

She then jumped up on stage and punched the man in the face in an attempt to stop him from singing the song, said the police report according to Gigwise. The 21-year-old woman was then dragged outside and went crazy punching a bar employee in the face twice.

Police arrested the woman and took her to King County Jail on assualt charges, according to local reports.
Ponderous blog entry to hit the interweb recently:

Dear Chris,

You’ve had me waiting months for a sign that Coldplay’s 4th Album was on the horizon. And now I sit and wonder how you’ll back up your words, stating the album “is going to be the greatest piece of music ever made.”

Really, Chris? Don’t you think that might be just a tad premature? You hadn’t even started recording when you made those claims. You finished recording around the first of this year, and did not speak about the album. Now, you’ve been mastering it for six months… still nothing. I’m tentative now, because there have been no signs of what you are doing. Nothing in the press, message boards, or blogs. Shouldn’t there be something out there? Like, an article from some shitty entertainment website saying, “We caught up with Martin at his local bakery where he was purchasing a cinnamon roll. He said the album sounded great, and they were still working hard to compile – The Greatest Piece of Music Ever Made.”

Can it be done?

Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X & Y. Honestly, I consider these to be three of the best initial albums in history. Catchy lyrics, influential music, a flow to the album. They had it all. But I don’t think a fourth is in your cards… I don’t think you’ve got the material to back it up, and that’s why you’ve been in the studio for so long.

There is another factor weighing against you. Is it really possible to have the “Greatest Piece of Music Ever Made” when fewer people buy music as an album? With today’s digital society music is now purchased on a song by song basis, thus making albums almost obsolete. Not to mention how CD’s have influenced society, with the ability to skip to your favorite song. To many listeners in today’s society, there are about 3 tracks that matter – all of which will be released as singles. Instant gratification is the name of the game.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now Chris. Truthfully, I want to be wrong. I want you do deliver. I also want to shit Rolexes.

Source: http://irrelevant-gj.blogspot.com/2007/07/t.html

Karaoke beating: She couldn't say why she was so "Yellow"

The man allegedly attacked for singing Coldplay at a Wallingford bar is still dumbfounded, and the woman who was arrested claims she doesn't remember the attack.

The story of the 30-year-old karaoke singer – who wanted to be known only by his first name, Chris – made the Internet rounds after P-I reporter Hector Castro detailed the alleged attack that happed just past 1 a.m. Thursday. Police say a 21-year-old woman couldn't stand the song "Yellow" and went after the would-be crooner, telling him that he and the song "sucked."

Chris told P-I reporter Casey McNerthney that he went to the bar with a few friends after sushi and even danced with his alleged attacker earlier in the night. "But she was really, really aggressive, throwing me around," he said. "I just walked away."

One of Chris' buddies requested Coldplay's "Yellow," and the friends started to sing in front of the crowd. "Usually it takes a lot of alcohol to get me up there," said Chris, a karaoke irregular. "But I thought it would be fun."

Chris said his buddy retreated as the woman heckled them during the song's opening. But he continued as a solo act. "Before I even got three words out she started freaking out," recalled Chris, who said the woman never actually hit him. "I said, 'Girl, you need to leave.'"

The woman, Lindsey Lawrence, finally left in handcuffs after police say she hit a bartender twice and head-butted an off-duty police officer several times. Bar notes show she was only served one drink - a shot of Jägermeister.

Casey visited Lawrence in the King County Jail Saturday. But the woman told him she didn't remember much of her time at the bar. And she didn't look like a "little, hippie chick," as witnesses reported Thursday. She had two black eyes, arm bruises visible around the cuffs of her orange prison uniform, and answered questions either with short sentences or mumbling. "I remember watching people sing karaoke," said Lawrence, a 5-foot-8 woman still in obvious pain. "And then the cops kicked my ass."

She was unaware that her story had been circulating the Internet, and had one question when Casey told her all about it: "What was he singing?"

She smiled hearing it was a Coldplay song. Casey pressed her: "Is the song "Yellow" associated with a bad relationship? Do you hate the band? Is there a haunting memory with the color?"

"I don't know," she repeated, often avoiding eye contact. She didn't say much else, other than to ask Casey to e-mail a copy of the original article. But she wasn't sure where he could have sent it.

"I'm not used to this whole jail thing," she told him.

Source: http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com

Coldplay Fanfic Is Getting An Ending!

Here’s a message from Sara - author of the famous Chris/Jonny “Coldslash” ‘Careful Where You Stand’.

Hey there kids - my name’s Sara, I wrote a crappy Chris/Jonny fanfic called Careful Where You Stand - http://www.geocities.com/xwhatawasterx/cwys01.html - some obscenely long time ago and never finished it because I fail at life. I decided to finish it. (I’m only half-kidding.)

- Sara

CAREFUL WHERE YOU STAND - CHAPTER 1

It was horribly cold, and Jonny was shivering. He had a sweatshirt on, but he had always been a wussy when it came to the cold. Especially this kind of cold. He kept his eyes trained on the sky for any sign of snowflakes.

"So are we still on?" he heard Will ask in a whisper.

"I don't know, maybe."

"There's not too many people out there. Think they'll be disappointed?"

"How the bloody hell should I know?" Jonny retorted.

"Are you just being a bitch because you're cold?"

"Are you asking stupid questions because you have no one else to annoy?"

Will shrugged and rubbed his hands together. "This sucks shite."

Jonny rolled his eyes and turned away from Will. Pillock. Where were Chris and Guy? Chris had promised he'd be back by now. And Guy had disappeared without anyone noticing, like bloody usual. Christ! When everything had seemed to be going all right, it suddenly just sort of fell apart around them. And none of them seemed to even care.

"Jonny, you okay?" Will asked timidly.

"Never been better."

"You look a little panicked."

"That's because we have less than half an hour before stage time and our lead singer is MIA!"

Will cast a look around the dank little green room. "You could sing in place of him."

"I don't think so, Will. Don't be stupid." Jonny sighed and burrowed deeper into his black sweatshirt. Jesus... What a crappy mood he was in. Usually he was fine, right before they came on stage, but right now he just really felt like going to sleep and waking up when it was all over.

His mind wandered, thankfully. But it wandered to a very unfortunate place. Three nights ago, to the tiny, darkened hotel room after they played Brixton Academy. Two rooms, two beds. Guy and Will in one bed, Chris and he in the other. It had been bad, very bad... Chris, though built like a twig, took up most of the boxy little bed. Their backs were pressed together, and one of Chris's feet was nested in the crook of Jonny's knee. That had been okay; pleasant, even. Jonny liked the warmth Chris gave. He was nearly asleep, when suddenly Chris had shifted positions completely. Now his cheek was resting on Jonny's shoulder, and they were spooned together like... Well, like lovers, or something. Jonny blushed slightly even thinking about it. He fidgeted nervously, trying to forget it - but it had felt so right and so perfect. Jonny had never felt so at peace before. But he didn't want to touch that...

It was friendship. Jonny was straight. Chris was definitely straight. They were all just regular guys with girlfriends. Jonny had just been having a rough time in the romance department ever since the whole business with fame had started - you had to be careful who you picked. Some were just groupies, and others were earnest. It was a gamble every time, and Jonny, more often than not, lost.

But something was different now. Something had turned inside Jonny, and every time he thought of Chris, he thought of Chris's soft cheek pressed against his shoulder and his chest to Jonny's back. Jonny had felt his chest rise and fall with every even breath.

"Jonny? You hear that? I think Guy is back." Will stood and stretched, then cracked his knuckles. "Ready?"

No, of course not! I can't go up on fucking stage in front of a crowd with Chris right there next to me, crooning like a sex god! "Yeah, I'm ready," Jonny said easily.

Guy burst in, kicking the door open with a booted foot. It smacked against the wall loudly, and he grinned, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "Yo! You guys ready to fucking rock?"

Jonny eyed him dubiously. "You obviously are," he retorted, standing and shoving his hands in his jeans pockets.

"Fuck yeah! Chris is nervous, though."

"Why? It's only a hundred people or so." Will picked up his drumsticks and twirled them in his fingers.

"Dunno!" Guy said. "He's in the loo, standing over the toilet."

"Is he throwing up?" Jonny asked, furrowing his brow. Poor Chris... He was brilliant onstage, but not so good with the before-you-get-onstage bit.

"Don't think so," Guy told him cheerily, trotting over to where his guitar rested in its case. "I'm not sure, though. Maybe you should check. He asked after you, anyway."

"He asked a --" Jonny swallowed his sudden rush of excitement, wincing. "Er... Yeah, all right. I'll go check."

He pushed past Guy and walked quietly down the hall to the bathroom, knocking twice on the slightly open door. Chris coughed hollowly, and called in a slightly strangled voice, "What?"

"You okay, mate? Guy told me you were puking or something." Jonny cringed at how insensitive his words sounded... but he was nervous around Chris. Every friendly gesture suddenly had to be examined under a new light; a light that made him slightly - no, *extremely* uncomfortable.

"No... Yeah. Whatever. I don't know." Chris yanked open the door and Jonny stumbled back a step. He looked like hell, that was for sure; rings under his eyes, face pale, shoulders slouched.

"Jesus, Chris. Have you been getting sleep?"

Chris shrugged and leaned against the doorframe, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his palms. "Yeah... I haven't really been able to sleep for a couple nights now."

A couple nights. A couple nights ago, they had slept together. In the same bed. Like long-time lovers. Jonny shivered, watching Chris's haggard face. "Since Brixton?"

"Yeah..." Chris blinked. "How'd you -- er, well... Yeah. Since Brixton. I'm a little out of it."

"Can you make it tonight?"

"Of course. When I get back though... Well... Where are we staying?"

"Dunno. A hotel."

Chris fidgeted a little, not meeting Jonny's eyes. "How many rooms we got? Four?"

Jonny's head felt light. "No... we're only there one night. We got two rooms."

And two beds.

Read the other chapters here

More Good News For Chris Martin: Gwyneth Paltrow To Become TV Chef

MORE good news for Coldplay’s Chris Martin: his beautiful movie star wife is to perfect her cooking skills.

Gwyneth Paltrow is to co-host a cooking show for US TV in which she travels around Spain on a culinary road trip. Her friend Mario Batali, a celebrity chef, told her of his plan to travel through Spain. “I told him, ‘I'll go with you’. Later, he was like, ‘Are you joking?’ And I was like, ‘No, I’m actually not joking!’” said Paltrow, who has fond childhood memories of holidays in the country.

“I eat all that (Spanish) stuff. The crazy fish things, the eels, I love it all,” she added. But the Sliding Doors actress will be steering clear of beef and pork, which she does not eat. “I won't eat that. I'll have to skip the jamon,” she told W magazine about the show, which will be on US channel PBS.

Source: Various (via W Magazine}

Paltrow Puts Her Game Face On

Gwyneth Paltrow is back.

She's splashed on the cover of September's W magazine, out nationwide Aug. 17, as she prepares for the October release of brother Jake's romantic comedy The Good Night, in which she plays the girlfriend of a washed-up pop star. The actress, 34, also has been busy filming the action thriller Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr.

The projects follow a break from major roles to spend time with husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 30, and their children, daughter Apple, 3, and son Moses, 1.

Does she see more kids in her future? "I have a dream version where I think, maybe in four years I'll have two in a row really quickly again — how fabulous to have a whole bunch of them! But then at that point, when everyone's potty-trained and sleeping through the night, are you really going to go back? … My husband really wants to adopt. So I don't know; I'm sort of open for anything."

More on this story here [thanks Loretín]

Ever want to beat up a karaoke singer? This woman did... during Coldplay's 'Yellow'

It could have been the Coldplay song "Yellow" that upset the patron of a Wallingford (Seattle) neighborhood bar. Or perhaps it was the karaoke singer who belted it out.

Employees at Changes, on North 45th Street, said they don't know, but the ensuing melee just past 1 a.m. Thursday was one unlike anything seen at the bar before. As soon as the man on stage started singing about the stars in his best Chris Martin impersonation, the woman reportedly said: "Oh, no, not that song. I can't stand that song!"

Witnesses said her distaste for Coldplay quickly took a violent turn, and she leaped at the would-be crooner, shouting expletives and telling him that his singing "sucked," while expressing the same opinion of the song, according to a Seattle police report. She pushed the man and punched him, all in an effort to stop his singing. Other patrons went to the singer's aid and hauled the 21-year-old woman outside. "It took three or four of us to hold her down," said Robert Willmette, one of the bartenders at Changes.

The woman, Willmette said, "went crazy" when she got outside, punching him twice in the face, and throwing blows at the others gathered around her.

But the person who drew most of the music critic's ire was an off-duty Seattle police officer. The off-duty officer identified herself as a cop, gave her badge number and had another patron call 911 to request help for an officer.

The response was fast and overwhelming, with both patrol officers and Gang Unit detectives converging on the normally tame neighborhood bar. "They blocked the whole street off," Willmette said.

According to the police report, the woman's rage only grew when the uniformed officers arrived. The officers took the woman, whom Willmette described as "a little hippie girl," to the ground, but she was still able to head butt the off-duty officer several times before she was handcuffed.

After treatment for injuries she suffered in the scuffle, the woman was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault. She was also held on a warrant issued for a previous theft charge. The off-duty officer also went to the hospital, for treatment of several cuts, scrapes and bruises.

Later Thursday morning, bar employees were shaking their heads over the woman's bizarre behavior. According to the night bartender's notes, she had just one drink -- a single shot of Jägermeister.

She didn't appear to be one of the regulars who flock to the bar for its karaoke nights on Sundays and Wednesdays. Most are regulars who come for the pleasure of the singing, and the police are rarely needed.

"She was just crazy," Willmette said.

Source: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com

Chris Martin Caught In Crossfire In Pitt/Jolie/Paltrow Love Triangle

It soon came to light that it was a line in 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' was responsible for the move. Namely "Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984."

As we all know, however, 'The Crouch' then became the drunk-dad-at-wedding staple. Even Chris Martin did the dance on stage. Not one of Coldplay's finest moments.

Now, however, Crouch has insisted he won't do the dance again, unless he scores in a Champions League final. Crouch said: "I feel like Ricky Gervais must do with everyone going, 'Do the David Brent dance.' From now on it's special occasions only. If I score in the Champions League final, I'll put it out again."

We can only envision a nightmare scenario where Tom Jones does his version of the Monkeys classic as Crouch does his trademark move.
A new phenomenon in New Zealand is taking the idea of “you are what you eat” to the extreme.

“Vegansexuals” is the name given to people who not only don’t eat any meat or animal products, but also choose not to be sexually intimate with non-vegan partners. Their reasoning is that the bodies of non-vegans are made up of the dead animals they have consumed.

The co-director of the New Zealand Centre for Human and Animal Studies at Canterbury University, Annie Potts, said she coined the term after doing research on the lives of “cruelty-free consumers”. “Cruelty-Free Consumption in New Zealand: A National Report on the Perspectives and Experiences of Vegetarians and other Ethical Consumers” asked 157 people nationwide about everything from battery chickens to sexual preferences.

Many female respondents described being attracted to people who ate meat, but said they did not want to have sex with meat-eaters because their bodies were made up of animal carcasses. “It’s a whole new thing _ I have not come across it before,” said Potts.

One vegan respondent from Christchurch said: ‘”I believe we are what we consume, so I really struggle with non-vegans when it comes to sexual contact.”

Another Christchurch vegan said she found non-vegans attractive, but would not want to be physically close to them. “I would not want to be intimate with someone whose body is literally made up from the bodies of animals who have died for their sustenance,” she said.

Christchurch vegan Nichola Kriek has been married to her vegan husband, Hans, for nine years. She would not describe herself as vegansexual, but said it would definitely be a preference. She could understand people not wanting to get too close to non-vegan or non-vegetarians.

“When you are vegan or vegetarian, you are very aware that when people eat a meaty diet, they are kind of a graveyard for animals,” she said.

Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are known for their vegan tastes

Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk

Perry going down well with the stars, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin

Perry is enjoying a massive boost in the shops after becoming popular with cutting edge pop stars.

The drink has proved a hit with pop star Lily Allen at Glastonbury and has been demanded backstage by bands the Arctic Monkeys and The Killers. Other fans reportedly incude the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, super model Kate Moss and singers Joss Stone and Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Bill Ottaway of the Campaign for Real Ale, said he was not surprised to hear about the interest in perry, bearing in mind the increase in demand for cider recently. “They go hand in hand,” he said. “Perry can be quite rare because it does take a particular quality of pear to produce perry. It tends not to be as acidic as cider and it’s not as sharp.”

Tesco has reported a 300 plus per cent increase in perry sales this year from 100 cases a week to 3,000. Worcestershire and Herefordshire have always been home to some of the finest cider and perry orchards in the British Isles.

John Barker, proprietor of Barkers Cider and Perry, Greenstreet Farm, Hallow has six acres of mixed apple and pear orchards and has been making his own cider and perry for the last 11 years, including BURP which stands for Barker’s Upsi-daisy Real Perry and BBC which stands for Barker’s Best Cider (BBC).

He produces around 240 gallons of perry and 250 gallons of cider a year and supplies directly to local pubs, including the Fox in Monkwood Green and The Talbot in Knightwick and The Bell in Pensax.

Mr Barker admitted he was not aware perry had become so popular with the pop stars and had never heard of Lily Allen. “I’ve never heard of any of them,” he said. “I’m just a peasant and I produce traditional draught cider, cheap and cheerful. It’s down to Magners that it has become more popular. Mine is the old-fashioned stuff which is draught not bottled. It’s got more taste and more flavour. I’m quite proud to be a specialist.”

Source: http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/

[Single Review] Death In Public - 'I Really Hate Coldplay'

It's like someone trying to be an indie Marilyn Manson, but not half as intoxicating as that sounds on paper.

We're not quite sure what we expected, but it was a lot more shiny, exciting and vital than this pile of messy rubbish. Death In Public surely had the chance to make a huge anthem sung by every self-respecting kid the length and breadth of the country - but all they've ended up with is this damp squib instead.

True, we're not so keen on Coldplay. But then again - on the basis of this track - we're not all that fond of Death In Public either. Having two teacher parents led him to be musically inclined. As a youth, his musical influences included Tom Waits and traditional Irish folk music. He grew up playing guitar, but also had experience on the piano, bass, and tin whistle. Before joining Coldplay, he performed in a band called Fat Hamster.

He attended the Cantell secondary school in Basset Southampton before studying anthropology at University College London, where he met his future bandmates and formed Coldplay, despite having no experience on the drums. The multi-instrumentalist picked up the drums quickly and earned fulltime duties on the band. According to lead singer Chris Martin, “Will is like a human jukebox, he’s more a guitarist than a drummer. Me and Will used to sit on the stairs at our halls of residence and he’d know more songs than anyone. You name it, he’d play it.”

In Autumn 2004, Will and Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman guested on a-ha keyboardist Magne Furuholmen’s first solo album, Past Perfect Future Tense.

Will was the first Coldplay member to marry: He married Marianne Dark, a teacher, in 2003. Their first child, a girl called Ava, was born on April 14th, 2006.

Will is a fan of Southampton F.C. and he is a season ticket holder at the South Coast team.

20 Will Champion Quotes

A lot of the time there is a lot of melancholy in the lyrics.

Will Champion

A lot of times when we play in countries where English isn’t the first language we get accused of being melancholy and miserable.

Will Champion

As soon as we played together, it was much better than anything else we’d ever heard.

Will Champion

At the end of the day, we’re just trying to prevent each other from going mad.

Will Champion

Coldplay are just four friends trying to make great music.

Will Champion

I can’t do all that riddly diddly stuff. As you’ll have seen in the news they’ve gone to Barcelona to record the follow-up to 2005’s mighty X&Y and are currently recording “at the feet of archangels.” We’re not sure whether they were just lacking creativity in their London studio or they just fancied escaping the flooded British Isles to find a bit of sun but it sure is an intriguing prospect.

What on earth will the album sound like?
For years, one of the hottest ''feuds'' in the music world was the rift between former Mickey Mouse Club members Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Now, however, it sounds like the two pop divas have made peace -- and a source close to Aguilera tells me it's likely the singer's pending motherhood (which she has yet to confirm) has something to do with it. Here's what we know: Aguilera reached out to Spears, and the two reportedly have spoken on the phone, e-mailed a lot and smoothed things over. So much so that Spears is both hosting the upcoming Las Vegas opening of the LAX nightclub (in which Aguilera is a part owner) and supposedly has agreed to contribute to the proposed CD of original lullabies Aguilera is developing.

Musical celebrity moms said to be on Aguilera's "wish list" of collaborators include Madonna, Celine Dion, Faith Hill and even Gwyneth Paltrow.
