First, when questioned about his 3 favourite movies starred by the actress, Chris Martin simply asked for the "next" question and followed by that, asked the journalist what was "his favourite sexual position".

After that, when questioned if there were plans of recording some day with Gwyneth (both sang together in a concert, last september), he repeated the ironic question: "What's your favourite sexual position?"

New Songs

Before all the tension, the band explained the absence of new songs on the South American Tour. "We wanted to play songs like Yellow, things that we've done hundreds of years ago. We are still 'cooking' the new songs, producing them. We don't want that anything end up on the internet, we want to have the surprise factor", said Chris Martin.

The new songs will be on their fourth album. It will be produced, among other people, by Brian Eno, who has worked with U2 in the past.

Even though there's a superproduction vibe around the new album, the band remains with their "down to earth" speech. "We see ourselves as a great band, but not such a good band", said Chris.

Conservativeness

Seen by the critics as a group that doesnt take risks in their songs, Coldplay believes that any transformation needs time. "It's very hard to please critics that are 20 years older than us. Few groups managed to reinvent the music or rock with just 3 albums out, with exceotions like Nirvana and The Beatles", exemplified Chris Martin.

A moment where the rockers went out of the script was in Sao Paulo, during monday's concert - after the crowd insistently asked for the song Shiver, that wasn't planned to be performed. "We've never had so many pleads for us to play that song. We hadn't even rehearsed, but we just couldn't not do it. Ended up being cool."

Source: www.terra.com.br

More Latin America coverage at Coldplay.com | New Song Bank 'Getting Colorful'

Check out the Coldplayer at Coldplay.com for more exclusives from the band's current Latin American tour, including postcards from Chris and Guy, plus audio and video footage of the shows.

Hello

We're in Sau Paulo, it's fun

Buenos Aires was incredible

New song bank getting colorful

Thankyou for my job

Love Chris

Source: Coldplay MySpace

[Setlist 27/02/2007] Coldplay @ Via Funchal: Second Night

Square One

Politik

Yellow

GPASUYF

Speed of Sound

Sparks

Daylight

What If

White Shadows

The Scientist

Green Eyes

Clocks

Talk

Swallowed in the sea

In my place

Fix You

Shiver

More on this here and pictures in the Coldplaying Gallery here

[Review 26/02/2007] Coldplay @ Via Funchal, Sao Paulo

Sorry for coming only now, I've just arrived home after almost 8 hours between airports and planes (I live far far away from São Paulo). Unfortunately I couldn't join the group to see the boys in the hotel because I was with my boyfriend (and he hates Coldplay) and he was already going to the concert with me it was too much to ask to go to the hotel... Anyway I feel that part of me was there with people from ColdplayBR.com and I feel almost as happy as them!! And, of course, listening to their songs live at Via Funchal was much more than I could ever ask!

I'm sorry I don't have enough words to describe how good was the last night for me. My seat was in the fourth row it was hell expensive but as soon as I arrived there I realized it was totally worthy. My seat was in the center, and in the left side of it there was an empty row (where people walked to arrive in their seats) so, during the gig, I would have an incredible view. I would if there weren't a bunch of stupid assholes (seated behind me) that left their seats and went to this empty row and I asked 'please, go back to your seat' and they went nearer to the stage (the center of the first and second row weren't sold, so just the guests from production were there) where people didn't pay that much to their seats and didn't ask that people to leave... and the worst thing was that most of them just knew how to sing the chorus line of speed of sound and fix you...

But the concert was amazing, the best night of my life, I think Mariana's review is really good, we had Sparks and Daylight (which were awesome) and we're supposed to have Love me tender, but they didn't play it. It was fun that when they started playing Sparks Chris said they were going to play High Speed, and then 'oh no, it's Shiver' and finally he said it was all a joke!

Read the full review here or here [thanks Cris_Santos]

Coldplay Ordered All Bars Inside Via Funchal Shut Before Gig

Coldplay brought their Twisted Logic tour to São Paulo yesterday for a sold out concert at Via Funchal.

The band asked all bars inside the arena to close 15 minutes prior to the show, not allowing any further sales of alcoholic drinks. We're in Sao Paulo in Brazil now. It's been a crazy couple of days. I arrived on Saturday night, feeling a little worse for wear after a heavy night in Buenos Aires on Friday. I was lucky enough to go for dinner with the band to a lovely restaurant. Then we went for a few drinks, which turned into a few more. Well, if you can't enjoy yourself on tour with Coldplay when can you?!

Suffice to say, I paid for it on the flight from BsAs to SP! On Sunday I met up with Jandira and Renato. Jandira works for Oxfam in the office in Brasilia, as a campaigner. You may recognise her name - she's left a few comments on this blog already! And Renato works in the Oxfam office in Lima in Peru,, as the Communications Officer for the region. They are both very cool, and lovely.

We discussed everything - Coldplay, Make Trade Fair, Brazil, England, celebrities, campaigns, the weather. Nearly everything! I went back to my hotel exhausted, but excited about the concerts and the campaigning in Brazil - there was genuine anticipation here, and I could feel like it was going to be special.

Read the full updated blog here

Coldplay In Brazil - updates from the first days

It all started on the 25th, when all of us (from coldplaybr) went to the airport to try to see Coldplay arriving. After 3 hours of waiting and a lot of anxiety and crossed information, we got to know that the band had already left through an alternate exit.

I went, along with Ana and Edu (people I met at the airport), by car to the hotel, to try to get there before the band, but no luck. As soon as we arrived we were informed by a group of girls that were already there that the band had arrived 20 minutes before us and that someone from the crew told them that they didn’t want any contact with the fans.

That didn’t really make us give up. We tried to get in the hotel, managed, by using a little bit of theatre, but as soon as the manager noticed we were probably fans, we were kicked out. Again, not a reason to give up, we stayed at the hotel door until 11:30pm waiting to see if the band would come out. No one did, so we had to go home, but with the promise of coming back the next day and not leaving until we saw Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy.

Read the full story here [thanks marianatsl]

[Brazil 26/02/2007] Coldplay Finish Setlist With 'Shiver' Acoustic | Pictures

Coldplay played their first Brazilian gig of the current Latin America Tour last night. Becky (i think that´s her name) explained us how it was gonna be: you say hi, they sign a picture and they´re gone. So I asked Can i talk to them? Yes, you´ll be able to talk to them. Great!

So, we went upstairs to a little room with sofas, and glasses, a place to relax. I gave someone what i wanted them to sign: the first flyer from their first concert in 1998. So, Becky takes it and says "what is this??". I explain to her and she goes outside, where she talks with some people from the crew, and they laugh and someone said "i don´t even have that myself!!".

So, one person comes in, and takes the flyer outside, then comes in again and asks me where did i get that. And i said internet, the fans club.

After that, the guys came in. Guy (such a nice person!!!) shakes hands and look at people in the eye... So, Chris is right in front of me,we skake hands and he says to me Hi!! Then comes Guy, again, hand, hi, and looks me in the eye. Then Will (who recognized me from the hotel entrance, when we talked and we gave him a present) and then Jonny. So, when i had the opportunity i asked Jonny if they were gonna play Shiver, and he said oh no, i don´t think so...

Then i gave him another present i had: something to eat, something to share. And i asked Will if he ate what we gave him before. He said yes, it was really good, thank you very much! And then they went to do some signing. And Becky goes to Guy and shows him my flyer. He laughs and tells the guys, look. And they ALL laughs and Chris says "man, that has almost ten 10 years". At that moment, i was truly happy. So, everyone is quit, no one is talking so i said to myself, this is my chance.I said "Can i ask you a question?". At the press conference Chris said he wrote a song about Buenos Aires called The butterfly. So i asked him if it was true. He didn´t listen to me, he said something about the press conference (apparently it wasn´t good) and then he said, ok, no, what??? And he comes to me. Wow, i had to repeat everything to him, face to face, in english. And he said "si si si" So, aparently, it´s true!!

Well, after that i talked to Will about the flyer and then, suddenly Guy is alone, no one is talking to him, and i said i have to talk to him. And so i did. Guy and me, nobody else, face to face. I said "your music is like a shelter, a refuge, it keeps me warm. I´ve been through tough times, and you were there with me". So he puts his hand in my shoulder and saids "that´s very nice of you to say, it´s very lovely".

Then, we took a picture, shaked hands, and left. I was in a cloud. After that, i went to the show, in 1st row, less than 1 metre away from them.

And then, just before Til kingdom come, they took the disposable cameras. Guy took me a picture, comes to where I am and throws the camera to me. TO ME. He looks at me, i say please and he gives ME the camera.

And then i couldn´t stop crying. I just couldn´t. I started to think about every moment i had with them. I thought about my grandma, who died a few months ago. It was intense. I can´t put it in words.

So, that´s it!!!
Coldplay and its entourage arrived at Faena Hotel on Saturday evening (17th February). Although it had been said that she would be in Buenos Aires, there was no sign of Gwyneth Paltrow, wife of singer Chris Martin.

It is believed that Coldplay occupied fourteen rooms, all with a view of the river and they requested flowers, chocolate and orange juice and bilberry. At their first opportunity on Saturday night they sampled the delights of Argentine cuisine.

They returned to one of the bars of Faena, where Charly Garcia was present. They spoke with him and they invited him to shows. The band slept yesterday until late.

Source: Lazaron

[Pictures] Coldplay Special Chilean fans Meet and Greet
