Johnny was first to come out from the entertainment centre. he seemed shy and didnt talk much but took photos with the few of us there.

later chris came walking out! he didnt want to take any photos because he claimed he had "spots on my (chris') face". he said he was tired. He had evident troubles trying to stand up and keep balance. we shook hands and noted (with my friend) how soft his hands were.

Last was will and guy leavng together. Guy looked at us and asked if we wanted autographs. he was drinking a beer and some of it end up on my paper which i was getting autographs on. I was holding 2 separate pieces of paper and guy signed both of them! Will seemed kind of withdrawn and pretty quiet also.

Chart-topping Sheffield band The Arctic Monkeys are leading the shortlist for this year's Q Awards, with a total of four nominations.

The Mercury Prize winners are in the running for Best Album, Best Live Act, Best Track and Best New Act, which sees them up against Lily Allen. Muse are next in line with three nominations, including Best Album for Black Holes and Revelations. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 30 October.

Muse's Best Album rivals include Kasabian (Empire), Keane (Under the Iron Sea) Razorlight for their self-titled album, and Snow Patrol (Eyes Open) as well as the Arctic Monkeys. Best Act in the World Today nominees are Muse, Coldplay - who scooped the title last year [pictured in Q, left] - Oasis, U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Oasis, Razorlight, Muse, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Arctic Monkeys are up for Best Live Act.

At last year's awards, Yoko Ono attacked Paul McCartney's talents as a songwriter and in 2004 Sir Elton John launched a four-letter tirade against Madonna, accusing her of miming during her live performances.

So far, they've turned down multimillion-dollar contracts from the likes of Gatorade, Diet Coke and the Gap for the commercial use of their songs.

But Coldplay, the best-selling British band, is now giving a helping hand to the United Way of London and Middlesex. Coldplay gave the fundraising agency permission to use the song Fix You in a promotional video for the United Way's campaign to raise $6.85 million for 40 local organizations that help the vulnerable.

"It's not often that a major group will allow you to use an entire song," said Helen Connell, executive director of the United Way. "Usually a short clip is all you get, if anything at all."

The video is a three-minute slide show of black and white photos of vulnerable people that morphs into colour photos in its second half, signifying the hope generated by helping hands.

Made here by Brick House Productions, the producers thought Fix You, a lyrical and melodic tune from the Coldplay's latest album, X & Y, would be the perfect sonic match for photos, Connell said. "It tells the story in sound."

To get permission, all the United Way had to do was ask, Connell said. "They have a reputation for supporting social causes."

Winners of two Grammys and major British awards, Coldplay has supported Oxfam, Amnesty International, Live 8, the Teenage Cancer Trust and victims of hurricane Katrina, among others. In its early years, the band was known for giving 10 per cent of its earnings to charity. "You can make people aware of issues. It isn't very much effort for us at all, but if it can help people, then we want to do it," bassist Guy Berryman once said. Lead singer Chris Martin, who is married to actor Gwyneth Paltrow, said the band has avoided turning its songs into commercials because "we wouldn't be able to live with ourselves if we sold the songs' meanings like that."

But the band saw the United Way video and loved it, said Ralph Singh of EMI Music Canada, which records and distributes Coldplay's music. "They fully support the use of their song in the video," Singh said.

Not only that, said Connell, they've given permission for other area United Ways to use the video to promote their campaigns. "We're making it available to other United Ways if they want it," she said.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

The United Way of London and Middlesex raises money for 40 community organizations that run 80 programs for vulnerable people. Six weeks into a campaign that ends in December, the United Way has raised about 25 per cent of its goal. "We're where we expected to be at this time," said executive director Helen Connell. "Some of our biggest workplace campaigns haven't gotten into gear yet."

Footballers and actors top the desire list that most women fantasize about, according to a survey of what women want in bed. The research, by fantasy box firm Sheila's Comforts, revealed that it is their rugged looks and athletic prowess that turn women on.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is the most desirable man, followed by Real Madrid star David Beckham in second and Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp in third. James Bond star Daniel Craig, Arsenal forward Thierry Henry and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also made the top 10.

Asked what physical attributes a great fantasy needs, most women said good looks (68 per cent). Fitness came second, with 28 per cent of women wanting their fantasy to be athletic.

When it comes to fictional characters it is many of the old favourites who feature in the top 10, with Rhett Butler topping the poll and Mr Darcy a close second. Also popular were James Bond, the character rather than a specific actor, and David Tennant as Dr Who.

About half of those responding said a fireman was there preferred profession, with workman second, gardener third and doctor fourth. Further research by Sheila's Comforts found that 88 per cent of women were happy to talk about their fantasies. Only two per cent said they had never fantasized and the rest admitted they did or had but wouldn't talk about it to anyone else.

"This research shows that women are more open about talking about fantasiesm," said Sheila Taylor, founder of Sheila's Comforts.

"They realise that it is something that the majority of us experience and it is not shameful to talk about them. Research shows that people who fantasize the most are in happy, loving, trusting relationships. But it is getting started that can put people off. Role playing and fantasies are a part of human nature but it is not about rubber and bondage, it is about romance and excitement."

The survey questioned 1,200 women during the third quarter of 2006.

More on the story reported earlier, about Chris Martin's chord's being too good for Jay-Z. Chris Martin almost backed out of his collaboration with Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter because the melodies he conjured up sounded too good to share.

The '99 Problems' rapper invited Martin to write music for his comeback album 'Kingdom Come' and experienced a horrible moment when he believed Martin would back out and use the compositions on the next Coldplay album.

He says, "Chris Martin sent me these wonderful chords one day and he said he knew they were good because he almost didn't tell me about them. He was gonna keep them for himself. For one second he said, 'I'm not sending this to him.'"

Not really no. It has been known for music fans to turn up well in advance spending the night in sleeping bags outside the venue; the atmosphere tends to be great. However, it will be very cold if you plan to be there in the wee hours. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this alone or without telling others where you are. You must think safety first and so if anyone under adult age is thinking of doing this, get your parents' permission. I've never known there not to be a golden circle set-up at Wembley. For those that don't know, the golden circle is the area that the first come, first served fans get to stand in. They're issued with a wristband so they can leave and re-gain entry making life easier for loo and food stall visits.

The rapper explains how he beat Coldplay to new tune

Jay-Z has revealed he had to compete with Coldplay for the title track of his new album 'Kingdom Come'.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is featured on the song, but it was touch and go as to whether he was going to offer the work he had done to his rap star pal. Jay-Z told MTV: "Chris Martin sent me these wonderful chords one day and he said he knew they were good because he almost didn't tell me about them. He was gonna keep them for himself," he added. "For one second he said, 'I'm not sending this to him.' With Kanye (West) it was the same thing, he dropped the track off."

'Kingdom Come' is released on November 20, and will be followed by the single 'Show Me What You Got' on December 3. It will be his first album since 2003's 'The Black Album'.

On Septemeber 26, 2006, Chris Martin was seen leaving a hotel in Central London. Casually dressed as usual, it's said that he has been attending a Coldplay meeting that day - maybe talking about the new headquarters in Hampstead?

A live double CD, "Radio 1's Live Lounge", featuring Coldplay has been released and is now widely available.

Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley has compiled 20 tracks as performed in the Live Lounge segment of her show. A popular part of Jo's programme partly down to the fact that Artists usually perform two tracks, one of their own plus a cover. Coldplay have taken part a couple of times, the last being December 22nd 2005 (where they did an extended performance) & have treated us with 2 Christmas covers (Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and White Christmas).

This compilation is a mix of both originals & covers but the chosen Coldplay song is that of The Scientist.

In Manchester, the town where Roy Keane became a household name, they’ve been shouting “KEANO!” since Tom Chaplin was a boy. Tonight though, the chant found itself a new arena. “Now he’s retired, I suppose we can lay claim to it,” smiled the Keane frontman.

Undeterred by three years in which detractors have dismissed his group as Coldplay imitators, the singer donned acoustic guitar and pretended to be Chris Martin for a snatch of Yellow. Resisting Manchester’s exhortations to carry on, he played Your Eyes Open and asked the audience to sing along, all the better “to cover up my appalling guitar playing”.

Coldplay have missed out on Best International Rock Group to 'My Chemical Romance' at the 2006 MTV Latin American Awards, held on Thursday.

Robbie Williams' bottom and a band that dresses like furry bunnies graced MTV's 2006 Latin America Music Awards, where reggaeton sensation Daddy Yankee won top prize for artiste of the year.

MTV made a triumphant return to Mexico yesterday after Hurricane Wilma ruined last year's ceremony just hours before it was to begin on a pristine Caribbean beach. This year's ceremony is the first to take place outside Miami. "MTV finally understood that Miami is not Latin America," said presenter and actor Diego Luna as more than 10,000 attendees cheered.

Britain's Robbie Williams, who won best international pop artiste, gave the audience an eye-full before performing Rock DJ when he pulled his pants down and mooned the audience.

Daddy Yankee, who helped spread catchy reggaeton music - a fiery mix of reggae and hip hop - from dance floors in New York's Bronx to Venezuela's posh clubs, said his music was no short-lived trend.

Colombia's Shakira went home with the tongue-shaped award for song of the year for Hips don't lie from her second English-language album, Oral Fixation Vol 2. Mexican singer and accordion player Julieta Venegas' six nominations turned into just a single win for best performer of the year.

But Mexican indie act Panda won in three categories - best band, best alternative artist, and newcomer of the year.

Mexican band Mana won video of the year and best rock artist plus a special award to honour their two decades in the music business.

WXPN, a radio station based in Philadelphia is counting down the 885 greatest artists of all time (as voted on by the listeners).

Coldplay at number 61, have beaten the likes of Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Queen, The Police, Oasis, AC/CD and many more.

A. They’re not on a ‘break’. They’re just in between albums, so they go to the studio a lot as it’s being put together. I’m not going to give out the address though! Nor the cost! I have seen it. It’s great, but not finished yet.

Sheffield scorchers Arctic Monkeys are the red hot favourites to sweep up at the Q Awards later this month.

The band, who won this year's Mercury Music Prize, have been nominated in four of the six categories at the prestigious bash. Bookies Paddy Power put the Arctics odds on at 8/11 to win Best Album, 6/4 to take Best Track with I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and 1/3 to win Best New Act.

They're also up for Best Live Act alongside Oasis, Razorlight, Muse and Red Hot Chili Peppers. U2 have secured yet another nomination this year for Best Act In The World Today. Paddy Power make them 2/1, second only to last year’s winners Coldplay who are the favourites at 7/4.

Paddy Power himself told us: "2006 has been The Arctic Monkey’s year. I think it’s fair to say they’re the biggest British band since Oasis and it looks like they’re going to cement their reputation at the awards. If they don’t clean up at the Q Awards I’ll be very surprised!"

The Killers have revealed their new album 'Sam's Town' took some inspiration from Coldplay.

Though the Killers have made plenty of headlines for trading barbs with bands over the last year-plus, during our AOL Sessions interview frontman Brandon Flowers and guitarist Dave Keuning had nothing but kind words for some of their peers.

"We all listen to our favorite bands and are inspired on the drive to the studio by whatever's in our car," Keuning said. "We just try and make the best songs possible. I guess maybe we're trying to be just as good as Coldplay. You know, we use them as an influence, too."But their appreciation for fellow musicians doesn't stop there. They also gave major props to the Strokes.

"The very first song on the third Strokes album is a perfect pop sensation and that made us [try harder]," Flowers notes about the making of 'Sam's Town.' "I remember playing pool and that record came out when we were at Dave's house and listening to that over and over."

This episode of Extras is definitely one for the British fans and being one of them, I loved every minute of it.

What makes this such a joy for the home crowd is the wealth of celebrity guests on offer. Richard Briers, Ronnie Corbett and Stephen Fry are practically household names in the UK. I can’t say for sure, but my guess is that most American audiences won’t have a clue who any of them are.

One guest who will be known to viewers on the other side of the Atlantic is Coldplay’s Chris Martin. I’m not a fan of Coldplay, Martin’s mournful vocals on EVERY song put me off. I mean he’s a million-selling rock star, you’d think he’d have something to smile about.

But as a person he’s won me over after his appearance here. He sends up the charitable rock star type brilliantly. He’s even good when he makes a guest appearance on Andy’s sitcom When the Whistle Blows…at least until he starts to sing.

With Martin’s guest spot over with, the rest of the episode concentrates on Andy’s BAFTA nomination for Best Comedy Performance.

When Maggie is treated rudely in a designer clothes store while shopping for a dress to wear to the awards dinner, Andy decides to use his celebrity status to play the hero. Gervais is brilliant here, it would be so easy to overdo things and by doing so kill the scene but he lets the situation bring out the laughs rather than try to play it funny.

The dress brings more laughs as Andy and Maggie arrive at the ceremony, this time provided by Ashley Jensen. She can play straight drama; she showed that with Eleventh Hour co-starring Patrick Stewart. Yet comedy is her true calling, her timing is flawless and she’s every bit Gervais’ equal in front of the camera. She even has me wanting to watch Ugly Betty.

Richard Briers' encounter with an Andy Millman doll and his two word put down of Andy gets him a standing ovation at the awards and is one of the episode's highlights. As is Andy's encounter with Stephen Fry in the gents toilet; no, not that sort of encounter!

However, it is that national treasure Ronnie Corbett who provides the night's finest moment. Caught doing cocaine with Andy’s agent with Andy on hand as an unwitting accomplice, they find themselves brought before the mighty BAFTA. The diminutive comedian steals the scene even before he opens his mouth.

After one final embarrassment for Andy the credits roll, but there’s one final comedy gem to be treasured post credits featuring Moira Stewart. I bet all the American’s are saying “who the hell is Moira Stewart?”

Jay Z has revealed the first details of his upcoming collaboration with Chris Martin, which is set to appear on his comeback album "Kingdom Come".

The hip hop superstar has worked with a series of hip hop icons including Dre Dre, Timbaland and Kanye West on the long-awaited follow-up to "The Black Album".

However, it is perhaps the track with Coldplay's singer, which has not yet been named, that has prompted the most publicity. Speaking to MTV, Hova explained how the new album came about, including Martin's role. "With this one, I didn't record with anyone. I didn't record with one producer. I went in with Timbaland, but we wound up using the stuff he sent me. With Dre...our phone conversations were the studio session. Same with Chris Martin. Coldplay have reportedly invested in a massive recording studio place in London.

The four-piece are planning on using the property in Hampstead, north-west London as their permanent head-quarters. The move seemingly ends recent speculation that Coldplay’s future is uncertain. Today’s Sun claims the band have now entered a legal contract making them joint owners of the building which contains recording studios and offices.

Earlier this year, drummer Will Champion said the band were planning on the make the move. He said: "We’re trying to find somewhere we can set up and work from. In all these years working together we haven’t had a HQ, our own studio or anything like that. We want somewhere that we can hole up and see what happens."

Coldplay’s last album ‘X & Y’ was recorded at various locations around the globe.

Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2006 take place tomorrow night at the Cuidad de Mexico. Coldplay were nominated in the Best International Rock Group category.

The ceremony will be aired live on its broadband platform MTV Revolution beginning 10 p.m. Mexico time from the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

The network is also producing a half-hour MTV News post-show exclusively for MTV Revolution that will be available immediately after the show’s webcast.

Los Premios MTV Latin America 2006 will air on MTV Latin America to more than 24 countries and it will be seen on MTV, MTV2 and MTV Tr3s in the U.S., as well as the MTV channels in Spain, Denmark, European (Emerging Markets), Japan, Russia, Brazil and Canada, reaching 195 million households.

“Our audience is constantly evolving and finding new ways to get music and entertainment content through digital platforms, so MTV Revolution is a great way for our fans to experience this great event like never before,” said Luis Goicouria, the VP of digital media for MTV Networks Latin America. “The MTV Revolution on-demand experience will also give users access to their favorite Los Premios moments whenever they want it and at the click of a mouse.”

The winners of Los Premios MTV 2006 were selected by MTV Latin America viewers, who cast 5 million votes online at MTVla.com and over 50,000 votes via SMS in Latin America.

As previously reported, Justin Timberlake revealed he’d love to collaborate with Chris Martin — but the Coldplay star had turned him down. The singer said: “I’d like to get Chris Martin in the studio but he won’t sing on anything but Coldplay stuff.” And Justin can’t help but be a little peeved about it. He joked on a T4 special: “I respect him and I hate him for that.”

While Chris will happily write and produce with other artists — including Jay Z, Nelly Furtado and Jamelia — he doesn’t like lending his vocals.

Now, it seems, Justin Timberlake has been jamming in a London studio with Chris Martin. Timberlake says: "It was great. I want to create with him when we can get our schedules together."

Chart-topping Sheffield band The Arctic Monkeys are leading the shortlist for this year's Q Awards, with a total of four nominations.

The Mercury Prize winners are in the running for Best Album, Best Live Act, Best Track and Best New Act, which sees them up against Lily Allen. Muse are next in line with three nominations, including Best Album for Black Holes and Revelations. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 30 October.

Muse's Best Album rivals include Kasabian (Empire), Keane (Under the Iron Sea) Razorlight for their self-titled album, and Snow Patrol (Eyes Open) as well as the Arctic Monkeys. Best Act in the World Today nominees are Muse, Coldplay - who scooped the title last year [pictured in Q, left] - Oasis, U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Oasis, Razorlight, Muse, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Arctic Monkeys are up for Best Live Act.

At last year's awards, Yoko Ono attacked Paul McCartney's talents as a songwriter and in 2004 Sir Elton John launched a four-letter tirade against Madonna, accusing her of miming during her live performances.
