It will make her the highest paid actress or female singer ever for a tiny cameo appearance. The two million deal is a lot more than the £2,000 cut husband Chris Martin gets for singing one Coldplay song.Gwyneth's pay cheque comes for just one day's work on new film Every Word Is True which is being shot next year reports The Sun.

Gwyneth plays American singer Peggy Lee and will sing What Is This Thing Called Love in the opening scene of the film. Then she can collect her things and go home.

A senior executive on the film said: "No actress has ever earned this sort of dough for just one day's work.

"And no singer, not even Barbra Streisand, has earned this for warbling one song. But we feel the money isn't an issue. When you're talking about someone as beautiful and iconic as Gwyneth making her filming comeback after having her baby, then it's the performance that counts. She will set up the movie perfectly with a superb glittering performance."

The movie is a star-studded biopic about legendary American author Truman Capote. Gwyneth will feature in it for the opening 90 seconds.

Since the birth of Apple in May, Gwyneth has been reluctant to agree to any work. Her new film Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow is out soon but was filmed before she had her daughter.

Gwyn said: "I'm going to take a break for a little while. Reports of my retirement are exaggerated. But when you have a baby, it reorganises your priorities. I want to go back to work but right now I just want to be with Apple. I feel great and the best thing about being a mum is her. She is just the most gorgeous, sweet, lovely girl in the world. I even love her stinky diapers."

Mr Haji-Iouannou's easyGroup said it had teamed up with London-based music subscription service Wippit to create easyMusic.com.

The web-based service will consist of two sections, Copyleft - which will feature material from unsigned artists, including music downloadable for free - and Copyright, offering current hits and back catalogue numbers starting at 25p per track.Copyright will launch before Christmas and Copyleft should be operational in the next couple of months, the group said.

The service is the latest in a portfolio of businesses under the easy banner including easyJet, easyInternetcafe, easyCinema, easyBus, easyPizza, easyCar and easy4Men.

Mr Haji-Iouannou said the service would offer "free or best value music downloads to consumers in all countries".

Chief executive and founder of Wippit Paul Myers said: "We're proud Stelios has chosen Wippit to wear the famous colours of easyMusic."

Wippit currently offers hundreds of thousands of downloads from artists including Robbie Williams, Natasha Bedingfield, Franz Ferdinand, Nickelback and Coldplay.

REM headlined this year’s Oxfam benefit at London Hammersmith Apollo.

The Coldplay singer bounced onto the stage unannounced halfway through ’Man On The Moon’, to huge applause. He stayed on the stage, and sung a verse and chorus to the track, before waving to the crowd and returning to the side of the stage to watch the rest of the group's set.

It was the highlight of an REM set which included classics such as ’Losing My Religion’ and ’Imitation Of Life’, as well as forthcoming single ’Leaving New York’, and other new songs ’I Wanted To Be Wrong’ and ’Boy In The Well’.Earlier in the evening, Peter Buck had played with The Thrills, while the most touching collaboration was between Jamelia and Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell who covered Blondie’s ’Heart Of Glass’ despite only rehearsing it a few hours before the show.

Also on the bill was Minnie Driver and comedian Ricky Gervais and the show was compered by Dermot O’Leary.

Last night’s event follows on from Oxfam’s concert last year which saw Martin, Noel Gallagher and Ms Dynamite perform live. All profits from the sold-out will go directly to Oxfam.

The Material Girl flew to London after performing in Holland, to host an exclusive party at celebrity restaurant Offerman to mark the Snatch director's 36th birthday - the guests included Chris Martin, and his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.

REM are the headline band at this year’s Oxfam benefit at London Hammersmith Apollo, with the bill completed by The Thrills, Razorlight , Jamelia, Minnie Driver and Ricky Gervais. The show will be compered by Dermot O’Leary.

All day, rumours have been circulating about whether Chris Martin will appear at the show. Organisers remain tight-lipped, but Martin is in London where he has been putting the finishing touches to the third Coldplay album.

Meanwhile, rumours abound that Martin will collaborate with either Jamelia on the Martin-penned ‘See It in a Boy’s Eyes’ or with REM. Jamelia is also rumoured to be collaborating with Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell while word is that REM guitarist Peter Buck will appear with The Thrills. Buck makes a guest appearance on their new album ‘Let’s Bottle Bohemia’.

Jamelia said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to be asked to perform. I remember how fantastic the concert was in 2003. I hope this year’s will be as big a success and we can help raise even more awareness for the campaign."

The actress said Chris soothes baby Apple to sleep with a song when she is suffering from teething pains. The celebrity couple's daughter was born in May, and Gwyneth said she has recently been cutting her first teeth.

"She has treated us to the whole 4am thing which is a bit tough, but Chris weighs in and sings lullabies and funny joke songs. I played his music a lot when she was in my belly and she loves it."

Gwyneth, 32, said she has been ecstatically happy since she and Chris, 27, had their daughter. "When you find the right person and you have a baby life is fantastic," she added.

As previously reported, Razorlight and Jamelia are among the stars who have signed up for the show at the London Hammersmith Apollo (September 14), which is in aid of Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign. NME has revealed that the "very special headline artist" is the American band. A similar event in October 2002 at the London Astoria saw Chris Martin, Noel Gallagher and Ms Dynamite perform live.

A statement read: "Make Trade Fair LIVE has been organised by Oxfam to highlight the impact of unfair trade rules on poor farmers in the developing world. Oxfam is working to make trade fair and lift people in the developing world out of poverty."

The Coldplay singer filmed a hilarious short video, as 'The Nappies', and presented to his wife just before she gave birth in May. The lyrics of the personal novelty ditty have been kept under wraps until Gwyneth decided to share them with Oprah on her show.

"We play each other stuff over the phone all the time and when he played me Gravity about two years ago I absolutely loved it. Chris thought it was one of the best songs he'd written but said it sounded so much like Embrace that he gave it to us and it’s turned out really, really well."

The West Yorkshire band have stamped their own unique sound onto the ballad, out on Monday, the first single to be released from Embrace’s fourth album, Out Of Nothing, out on September 13.“It’s just a really beautiful love song, an out-and-out uncynical song about somebody who is so full of love that they’re hurting with it,” explains the 33-year-old lead vocalist and guitarist.

Although Chris Martin has since become globally successful, Danny first met the singer when Coldplay supported Embrace at The Blackpool Express Ballroom back in 2000.

For the moment Danny’s energy is well and truly focused on Embrace. Given the strength of the arguments between the singer and the band’s new producer Youth, during the three long months when they were making of Out Of Nothing, it sounds like he needed every last drop.

“We have practically produced everything ourselves for the past seven years,” Danny explains. “So when we were recording the album it was really hard because of the amount of arguments I was having with Youth – shouting, throwing things, jumping on tables and crying and stuff.”

He’s quick to point out that the feuding duo have since managed to salvage something from the wreckage to become good friends.

“I’ve realised that if you allow people to do their jobs then you’ll do a lot better.

“All the pain and suffering from the album was worth it in the end because it’s easily our best album and if it hadn’t been for Youth it wouldn’t have been half as good – the guy’s an unpredictable genius.”

As for the bond between himself and songwriting partner – and younger brother – Richard (31): “We only really had about 10 days off from writing and we had over 500 songs and half-finished song ideas that we could choose from before we actually went into the studio to record,” Danny recalls.

“I think we’ve got more confident now and with that confidence you feel able to reveal more lyrically so every album that has gone by has been progressively more honest.

“I’m really excited about this album and the prospects for the future are looking really bright,” he grins. I feel like I’m a 17-year-old again.”

This may well confirm Coldplay as a part of the line up at the Make Trade Fair gig next month. Razorlight, Jamelia and Hollywood actress Minnie Driver and other as yet unannounced stars will perform at the event on September 14 at the Hammersmith Apollo, West London to raise money for the Oxfam charity Make Trade Fair.

Bottle, the event organisers are keeping the headline acts under wraps, but have stated that, "The evening will involve "special international headline artists" who are (I quote) "bloody good" and rest assured, "this is going to be a very special night to remember."

During her set she covered Coldplay’s 'Clocks'. She told the crowd: "You may know I wrote a song with Chris Martin. Two years on from the eternally popular "The Good Will Out" LP and Embrace are back, with their new single "Gravity" set for release August 30.

Taken from their new album "Out Of Nothing", released September 13, the single takes up where the band left off - soaring melodies and Danny McNamara's familiarly comforting vocals. Only this time there's a twist:

Gravity would sit comfortably alongside any one of Embrace songs. And yet it was written by Coldplay singer and songwriter Chris Martin.

The decision to record another artist's song might seem surprising were it not for a long standing friendship between Martin and McNamara dating back to when Coldplay supported Embrace at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom in 2000.

Martin originally wrote the song for Coldplay but as it developed it became clear to him that the song might be better suited to Embrace. As he explains, "We've always loved Embrace and Danny is one of my best friends. When we wrote Gravity we thought it sounded far too much like them for us, but not too much like them for them, so I asked Danny if he wanted the song and that was that."

The new album, produced by Youth, comes ahead of a major UK tour throughout October.
