Coldplay at the iHeartRadio festival - Viva Las Vegas (Review)

Coldplay were back in Vegas, for the first time since 2011, where they last performed at the 2011 iHeartRadio festival. Coldplay were on the center stage again for a brief but exhilarating show after their wonderful show in Los Angeles the other night.

Firstly, i'm sure he needs no introductions around here but he's gonna do one anyway!

Coldplay's setlist at the star studded festival was condensed, which was inline with the pop based festival in which artists would only play for 4 or 5 songs. The guys wasted no time with a frantic start during 'Clocks', pleased the crowd which was baying for their hits, as Coldplay responded with 'Viva La Vida' and 'Paradise'. Coldplay sneaked in 'Ink' which was the surprise of the night, in favour of the 3rd single 'True Love'. Could this be a hint of 'Ink' being the band's fourth single from 'Ghost Stories'? Or it could just be to follow in the uplifting mood of the concert. The clues of 'True Love' being preferred during the iHeartRadio album release party in May suggest something like this may have some significance on the band's direction with the album singles. The short and sweet setlist can be seen below. The show was finished in style with the biggest hit from 'Ghost Stories', 'A Sky Full Of Stars' which showered many screaming and dancing fans in confetti!

Chris Martin :"We're just pawns in Dynamo's game. He's probably been writing our songs for years". A new episode of hit TV series in the UK, Dynamo : Magician Impossible saw Coldplay on the receiving end of Dynamo's magic tricks! The famous magician who has wowed many celebrities over the years, including Chris Martin almost 10 years ago, visited The Bakery, Coldplay's studio in London... Guy appears to be missing and Chris Martin questions Dynamo with "What the f**k have you done with him"? to which Dynamo reveals his aspirations to join Coldplay in a sinister manner! Our favourite British (might be the last chance to call him that!) or Scottish Bassist was poorly and was unable to make it on the show. The 6 minute clip, with massive thanks to @Coldplayatlas on Twitter, provides many hilarious moments including Jonny harmonizing!

What I noticed is, even though they're just making some funny noises and nothing serious, they do all intently watch each other to adapt their singing/clapping rhythm. IMO it really shows how well they work together

Chris Martin features on 'Iris', from U2's new album

Chris Martin features on U2's fifth track from their new album, which caused a shockwave after the iPhone 6 conference on Tuesday when it was added to the library of 500 million iTunes users, for free!

Chris was present at Apple's conference and applauded Bono and co as the Irish band played live and announced their unique album strategy for 'Songs of Innocence'.'Iris (Hold Me Close)' is the U2 track which features Chris Martin on the backing vocals. The song itself was raising questions from Coldplayers who picked up the similar vibe from the start and ending of 'Iris', reminiscent of 'Ghost Stories' and more particularly the opening track from it, 'Always In My Head'.

Fans on the forums such as DanielRobertHiggins and theprospekt were convinced of the 'very Chris sounding' effects but the telling source came from U2interference.com forums (thanks to chrisnz for spotting), where a reliable source confirmed the Coldplay frontman's inclusion on 'Iris' specifically. We already knew Chris was listed on the credits and had infact been contributing to 'Iris' at the Electric Lady studios in early 2013. Flowing in the Dark - New Xylobands revealed!

It was a core part of Coldplay's Mylo Xylotour when they won the hearts of millions. It may be assumed to be part of history as Coldplay take a break from the gigantic stadiums they were so accustomed to touring in favour of smaller, intimate venues for their Ghost Stories show, such as the upcoming LA show at the Ace Hotel on 17th September but they are here to stay and seem certain to be involved in future groundbreaking Coldplay concerts!

Xylobands™, an invention from Regler Ltd were founded as a company by Jason Regler, who is a well known name among Coldplay fans as the inventor who brought us so many joyful scenes at concerts is working on new ideas with his team as they expand their Xyloband product to new heights.

The new Xylobands (presumably at the testing phase) feature flowing lights which change colour rather than glowing or flashing in a set colour. Imagine the possibilities at Coldplay concerts! A sea of flowing lights across the stadium during 'Clocks' or a sudden barrage of lights at the start of 'Politik'. Fun times are coming! Chris and Jonny interviewed as Coldplay are set for Las Vegas return!

The official Coldplay website announced the band's return to Las Vegas, at the iHeartRadio music festival, on September 19th and 20th. For information on how to get tickets, please refer to the iHeartRadio festival official website. Coldplay have an extensive history in Vegas, with their first appearance almost 12 years ago on 7th September 2002. The iHeart music festival is a pop oriented festival in which bands usually only have a setlist of around 6 songs, as was the case when the boys performed there in September 23rd 2011, playing : Viva La Vida, Charlie Brown, Fix You, Clocks, Paradise and closing with Every Teardrop is A Waterfall

Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland were speaking to iHeartRadio in build up to their only planned festival date for the reminder of the year so far. The interview broadcasts their eternal bond as best friends and brings out the humourous side from the pair. Chris, tongue in cheek, explained "Jonny has a gambling addiction so we gotta get him Vegas as much as possible" while Jonny replied, "I also just watch Godzilla and Vegas gets destroyed, so I wanna check if its still there". Chris Martin solo gig on 6th August.

Chris Martin is due to play a private show in New York City on Wednesday 6th August. The audience will consist of under 200 of Chris' closest family and friends, with two lucky fans to having the chance to see Chris in an even smaller surrounding than the already intimate Ghost Stories shows, this time with our charismatic frontman will going solo, with possible guest appearances in the offering or just simply belting out Coldplay classics!

US residents can win two of the tickets courtesy of US radio station, Cities 97, which streams on iHeartRadio (where the Ghost Stories launch party was hosted).

Coldplay are set to appear on Dynamo: Magician Impossible

Call it true, we will be watching Coldplay on late night TV later this year, as the band are set to appear on Dynamo : Magician Impossible, due to be aired in the UK later this autumn. Steven Frayne, who uses the alias, Dynamo for his talent as a magician/illusionist, is from Bradford in the UK and he rose to fame through various TV show appearances such as the Jonathan Ross show, Soccer AM and has appeared in various TV commercials for the likes of Adidas, Nokia and Pepsi. He has even performed for the likes of the Foo Fighters. Chris even had his experience of Dynamo's impressive tricks back in 2006 during the Twisted Logic tour...

New remix for A Sky Full of Stars!

Another remix to add for Coldplay's current single, A Sky Full of Stars. Famous Dutch producer and DJ, Robbert van de Corput, mainly known as Hardwell, has released his remix of the song! Hardwell has notably remixed singles for 30 Seconds to Mars, Example and The Naked and Famous most recently.

Following the release of the new song, Wish I Was Here from Zach Braff's Soundtrack, by Cat Power and Coldplay, director Zach Braff has released an exclusive commentary for every track appearing on his new film, Wish I Was Here . Zach mentions that the title track is his favourite on the entire tracklist and on the subject of Coldplay's involvement on the soundtrack, he talks about making a decision with Chris to choose female vocals on the song, to compliment the style of the film. He also reveals his thoughts on Chris Martin, to which we all agree, "one of the nicest people you will ever meet, just so cool, humble and just a kind human being". Coldplay's kind donation to MNDA

As some of you may remember, Fix You was dedicated to a fan, during the 2nd July Royal Albert Hall gig. The fan in question is Jody Duff, who is affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Breathtaking setlist at the Royal Albert Hall - first reactions

Coldplay at the Royal Albert Hall - 1st July - initial reaction.

The band have just completed a breathtaking setlist at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where we have seen a re-arranged setlist to the Japan and Sydney shows of recent. The starstruck crowd in the few thousand capacity theater saw the likes of The Scientist, Don't Panic and Everything's Not Lost make a return to the setlist and Jonny took center stage on the vocals during Don't Panic, a moment that will live long in the memories of Coldplay fans who were listening to the stream, yet alone the ones who were the to experience it. Chris who said Jonny is the shyest guy in the universe, called his best friend a "legend" and a "hero", very bromantic! The setlist was 18 songs long and was finished with the usual encore of Oceans, A Sky Full of Stars (which nearly brought down the roof!) and Fix You! The boys were on top song during the whole concert, really giving it their all! The stream on Absolute Radio was outstanding, it was a very special night for sure. The band set the bar even higher once again earlier today in Sydney, Australia, as Coldplay completed their penultimate venue of the Ghost Stories tour in style!

The event was streamed live via a radio broadcast posted by the official Coldplay page yesterday. The main setlist, minus the second encore was only 13 songs long, which puzzled many fans who were listening in, until after A Sky Full of Stars to which the radio broadcast had ended! Little did we know, a very special guest, infact one of the world's best was about to come on stage to perform with Coldplay. The special guest was the one and only, Kylie Minogue! The legendary Australian born singer, performed a cover of Nick Cave's, Where the Wild Roses Grow with the band. That was not all, in a re-attempt of Can't Get You Out of My Head, the song Coldplay covered in Glastonbury 2005, almost 10 years ago, was performed once more with the graceful presence of the wonderful Kylie this time round. Chris Martin duet with Avicii on the way!

Chris Martin duet with Avicii

Chris mentioned during the Kevin and Bean interview last month, before the release of Ghost Stories, that a song he has written will be released as a duet next year. The duet in question is confirmed to be with superstar Swedish producer, Avicii, who co-produced with Jon Hopkins, Coldplay's 2nd single off Ghost Stories, A Sky Full of Stars.

Avicii has been in the studio, recording his 2nd album with American producer, Nile Rodgers. Nile had posted on his official Facebook page recently that he is working on a guitar and vocal part on a new song with Chris Martin.

Thebackpackerintern was also within the 'Nile Rodgers Productions' studio and here is what he had to say on the whole star studded experience (thanks gai) :

Avicii was recording tracks with Chris Martin (from Coldplay). I walked in with Nile, we chatted, listened to some tracks and chilled out. Then, something amazing happened. I sat on the couch. Avicii was sitting on my left, creating some musical arrangements on his laptop. Chris Martin was standing in front of me, improvising on Avicii’s sounds with his golden voice. Then Nile started to jam on an air guitar. He used his hands to ‘jam’ and his own voice to create the sound of the guitar. The whole combination of these three legends was so amazing and sounded so f###### good that it gave me goose bumps. This was the most unreal moment of my internship with Nile. AMAZING!

It also seems likely that the Chris Martin duet with Avicii, will feature on the Swedish DJ's upcoming 2nd album, not just as a one off track as news came to light of the 24 year old star working with Chris, The Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers and Green Day star, Billie Joe Armstrong for the next album. Avicii expressed his admiration for the stars he has worked with. The news was originally posted on the Killers Facebook fanpage (thanks to Jeremyy on the forums).

krone.at, the German website, published a rare interview with Avicii in which he revealed how much he looks up to Coldplay.

"Chris has given me a completely free hand. Sure I've never worked so hard on a song. Coldplay were always on my biggest idols."

Japan were ready for their last taste of Coldplay this year presumably, at the MTV Video music awards, as revealed beforehand. Coldplay performed both singles from the latest album, Ghost Stories during the award ceremony, which also featured Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. Online Mayhem as Coldplay London tickets go on sale for two dates!

Coldplay London tickets sell out

Tickets to see the Coldplay concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 1st as part of their intimate Ghost Stories tour went on sale at 9.30am UK time this morning. The demand was very high as predicted. If you think back to how fast stadium tickets sold out for the Mylo Xyloto tour, it would be accurate to predict there will be tens of thousands of fans trying to snap up the tickets for only a few thousand spaces. There was a series of tips posted on the Coldplaying social channels last night and this morning in an effort to boost the chances of Coldplayers everywhere but there was no doubt what we were all doing.... Luck really mattered for this one as the initial gig tickets sold out very shortly after going on sale. Congratulations to those who managed to grab tickets for the 1st July show. There was frustration for others as Gigsandtours and Seetickets placed some fans in a never ending refresh fest that never resulted in a ticket being available. Shortly after the tickets were sold out, Coldplay announced a second show on Twitter for July 2nd which went on sale at 4pm UK time later on. The tickets for the 2nd show had pretty much the same circumstances, logic wasn't a tool as it may have been during previous ticket sales, it was down to luck and there were many lucky Coldplayers who got tickets and many who did not like myself but don't give up! Many Coldplayers on the forums have reported snapping up tickets at a later date by random refreshing for loose and cancelled tickets that randomly appear. Hospitality tickets are an option too but at £300-400! They are sold out too but seem the most likely to re-appear because of the price. Coldplay on Graham Norton show - Friday 30th May

A very tounge in cheek title as Chris and Jonny provided Coldplayers with some Friday night humour. The band's appearance on The Graham Norton show was pre-filmed, so we knew beforehand that the interview would involve Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland in addition to the full band performing A Sky Full of Stars live.

A star studded sofa full of guests on the night included : Legendary actor Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt who stars beside Tom in their new film, Edge of Tomorrow, Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and a star in his brand new film, A Million Ways To Die In The West and the actress Charlize Theron who stars alongside him. Highlights of the show before Coldplay's performance included Tom Cruise talking about being on top of the world's tallest building as you can see below!

Blimey! I wouldn't want to fall so farrr (i'll get my coat!). Also impressive was Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane who made us laugh with impressions of Stewie and Brian and explanations of how Quagmire started as a character.

After all the introductions, the main show started when Coldplay took to the stage with A Sky Full of Stars with the 'ghost piano' and the catchy hook transcending into the energetic track where Chris prances about the stage belting out the lyrics while "Cos in a sky, in a sky full of stars" then repeating "I think I saw you" before the stage explodes into life which ends with a flurry of star shaped confetti we have become so used to by now.

After the confetti had fallen on the floor and the band had played their final note, Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland walked over to Graham Norton who shook their hands and invited them over to the coach to join the other stars. Blue Nails on our forums was of the opinion Chris knew Tom because they had some routine hug going on! Jonny and Tom were all smiles as they shook each others hands.

Graham started off by congratulating Chris and Jonny for Ghost Stories reaching number 1 and said he believes the album has reached number 1 in over 70 countries! Chris replied with "I can tell you where it didn't get to number 1" as Chris reached into his pocket for a card provided by Mr Dave Holmes, Coldplay's manager to which Chris reads from, "Cambodia, Mongolia, The Bahamas and Burkina Faso" and continued with "And its number 3 in Tajikistan" which prompted laughs from everyone and Graham Norton amusingly pondering who is number 1 there?! Mr Norton then continued, asking Jonny how it must be great to have the job he does and to be Jonny Buckland while Jonno replies with a modest and cheeky smile, "Yeah, its alright" and talk was then about Chris having to convince Jonny to sit with him. Then, after being asked by Graham if people reckonise him, Jonny humorously commented, someone did this morning as he reacted in a mixture of aggression and surprise with "How do you know my name???!!!" with Chris adding "Its him you want!" referring to himself. Chris then explained a funny story which involved Jonny and Will at the Grammies which involved them being approached and being asked whether they are doing the catering!!! There were laughs all around as Chris re-enacted the scene with "these sandwiches are very good...".

Graham Norton asked Jonny and Chris whether they are planning to do a big tour as the guys quickly replied with "no" in a comedic moment which saw Graham pause then go "ok", "err..that's an exclusive right there!" following with "and, you can't buy tickets...now!" Chris hit us again with his sharp sense of humour that the band are infact "doing an extensive promo tour in Burkina Faso"!!! Oh Chris... The show finished with the brilliant red chair feature in which a lever can be pulled by the guests to eject the person featured from the chair. One person who wasn't ejected was Nicole, a production coordinator who according to Chris Martin who we are not sure whether he is joking or not, works for the band! Anyhow, the story about projectile vomiting was rather interesting but I won't go into further details!

Ghost Stories sales - Coldplay dominate the world album charts

Its been a week and a half since the new Coldplay album, Ghost Stories has risen to the fore to be crowned as the fastest selling album of 2014 in the US and the UK, probably in most of the world actually! It has been well publicized on our own Twitter and Facebook pages in addition to the official Coldplay one, that the band achieved their sixth UK #1 album on Sunday! More on that shortly but what we have been waiting for is the Billboard figures for the US charts too and the total worldwide sale figures for the first week of Ghost Stories! ^Coldplay : The British four piece dominating the world!

UK Charts - Record breakers in native territory

As reported during the midweek update last week, Ghost Stories had sold 105,800 copies, compared to the 122,508 Mylo Xyloto sold in the same period. The band's sixth album, Ghost Stories went on to sell a gigantic 168,000 in the first week of being on sale. MX sold 208,090 copies in the first week, however, the further dwindling of the music album market, has caused a declined in album sales. Mylo Xyloto was also release during the fourth quarter of the year 2011, a peak climate in sales so when put into perspective, Ghost Stories has done very well indeed!

As posted on the Coldplaying social channels, Coldplay only need one more number 1 album in a row to equal a record The Beatles set between 1963 and 1966 for most number 1 albums in a row! Coldplay now have 6 in a row with Ghost Stories. They also broke Keane's current record of 5 number 1 albums (since their debut) in a row.

US Charts - Billboard smash of the year

^ Photo by Billboard.comUS Sales info is a little less unavailable in between weekly updates but we had predicted figures appearing of over 360,000 sales which would alone break the record for the year so far of the fastest selling album!Coldplay did end up breaking the record in the US for the fastest selling album of 2014, selling 383,000 copies! Mylo Xyloto in comparison, sold 447,000 copies in its first week. Again, the sales climate and an quieter quarter of the year are to be considered, so good sales in the US for the first week and we can judge exactly how successful it has been with the end of year figures and other first week figures later on in the year! The Rolling Stone posted an article, which revealed 64% of sales for Coldplay's Ghost Stories came from digital downloads only! The snippet of The Rolling Stone article can be seen below

Coldplay's Ghost Stories sold a respectable 383,000 copies, easily enough to reach Number One — it's the best-selling debut week of 2014, beating Eric Church's The Outsiders, which sold 288,000. How did Coldplay pull it off? The band remains huge, of course, but this is an era of declining old-school rockers, when even once-reliable hitmakers such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park have trouble sticking to the charts. One possible reason: When I tried to play Ghost Stories on Spotify, all I found were three tracks and "the artist or their representatives have decided not to release this album on Spotify. We are working on it and hope they will change their mind soon." Ghost Stories sold 64 percent of its sales digitally, a total of 245,000, suggesting the band's strategy of making frustrated Spotify streamers switch to iTunes to pay for downloads may be paying off. Coldplay rule the world!

^ Coldplay's last album, Mylo Xyloto, sold over 1 million copies in its first week!In 2011, Mylo Xyloto sold just over 1 million copies worldwide. In fact, X&Y and Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends also passed the 1 million mark on their first week of sale. With the UK and US sales of Ghost Stories just under the MX sales for the first week, was this record about to end? The answer was no. Coldplay's continually growing popularity, helped massively by the hugely successful Mylo Xyloto tour and quite obviously, the increase in population and the access to digital music across developing countries in the world saw total one week sales of over 1 million too with the new Coldplay album topping the iTunes of over 100 countries this time around!There were early suggestions from Coldplayzone.it that Ghost Stories had sold over 1.2m copies worldwide! A few other sources state over 1 million which is believed to be the more likely figure (At least 1m is a cert) but there is no concrete information as of exact sales yet but there should be soon!Sales information for each country is still slowly coming in but here are the chart positions and sales so far across the world with huge thanks to Mackplay and other Coldplayer contributors for gathering the information on our forums!

Coldplay at Big Weekend, BBC Radio 1 festival in Glasgow

It was 9.55 PM in the UK, 4.55 PM in the US (eastern time) and Coldplay were about to step on stage to one of the most explosive gigs they have ever done! Glaswegian fans have a high reputation for being very involved during festivals and gigs and today was no exception! Coldplay wasted no time at all pulling out the big hitters from the word go starting with a closer to a few previous shows, Paradise. The song then transcended into Charlie Brown to which the band gave a slightly longer version of at the end with added confetti cannons! Unexpected but the crowd was delighted.

As Coldplay moved further into the short but sweet Big Weekend show, Yellow made an appearance and Chris sang One Direction's, Best Song ever just before Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall which got the crowd jumping up and down! Viva La Vida was given an audacious reception by the crowd and was trending on Twitter across the globe. Chris Martin paused after the massive anthem to explain that the band wish they could play for longer and they were going to play one more slow song before the fast songs carry on proceedings. The slow song in question was Oceans, a song which sounded so intimate on the festival stage, a definite highlight of the night. The boys then made the place rock as A Sky Full of Stars was belted out to raptures of people jumping up and down, it was a joy to behold! The band rounded off the main part of the show before returning for the encore which was Fix You. The track started with another short rendition of another One Direction song, Story Of My Life and then, particularity during the climax of Fix You, the festival go-ers at Glasgow showed their singing ability once more as we have seen during previous festivals.

The suggested interview with Chris Martin which was originally planned for last week then apparently moved to yesterday's show, was not aired. The reason for this is unknown so the top interview this era so far remains with Zane Lowe's personal interview with the Coldplay frontman. The band play on the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Glasgow!

Coldplay are set to amaze Scottish festival goers on Saturday evening as the band take to the stage with a peculiar setlist to be guessed as Phil Harvey queried fans for setlist ideas a few months ago on Twitter. Have ideas for what songs the band should play? Discuss them here. If I was a betting man, A Rush of Blood To The Head might just make an appearance, with the band sound checking the Coldplay classic before previous shows recently!

UK Coldplayers can watch the show live on BBC 3, at 9.55 PM live from Glasgow, Scotland as advertised by Radiotimes. Coldplayers across the world are best advised to watch the Coldplaying forums for advise from other fans around the time of the show.

Remember Coldplay's last festival outing in Glasgow? Was in 2011, when the band performed a stunning set alike to Glastonbury at the T in the Park festival. The performance below of Fix you, following the cover of Scottish band Travis' Why Does It Always Rain On Me? has to be one of the live highlights of that year, the crowd were absolutely mesmerizing the whole way through!

Reactions to Coldplay's "Ghost Stories" so far...

Yesterday, it was thought a stream of Coldplay's new album, Ghost Stories would be available to stream a week in advance, it was a likely but hopeful prediction and a few fans on our forums mentioned previous recent albums, such as Turn Blue by the Black Keys were streamed from around 8pm GMT and in the end, it was exactly what happened with Coldplay! Swarms of Coldplayers gathered around their online streams or radio's to listen to the Zane Lowe show on BBC Radio 1 around 2pm EST, 7pm GMT as their producers had advised us on Twitter, they were playing new Coldplay tracks from Ghost Stories. Parts of the now famous Chris Martin interview were aired once more as Always in My Head, A Sky Full of Stars and O were played in full this time. This was superseded by the announcement of the album being streamed in full on iTunes.

Truthfully, the first expected revealing of Coldplay's new album was thought to be a leak as had been the case with previous Coldplay album's and the majority of album releases nowadays. There was a huge 'megathread' on the Coldplaying forums discussing the possibility of a leak and it became massive, growing at over 100 pages a day with over 4,500 posts from enthused Coldplay fans! It become so huge in fact, the forum decided to swallow it up just after the streaming announcement! A number of users on Twitter reported having the album early although there was a lack of evidence for most cases. Coldplay's record label, Parlophone can count the streaming announcement as mission accomplished as they had achieved the best possible scenario in a very openly shared environment that exists online. The news was all about the streaming rather than the leak and the record label can focus on a potential huge first week for the album release. Coldplay fans greeted the album with very positive reviews all over Facebook, Twitter and our forums. We asked Coldplayers on our messageboards, to vote for their 3 favourite tracks off Ghost Stories after the initial streaming. The results were in favour of Always in My Head, True Love and O as the top 3 popular 'Ghost Stories'.

Now, featuring the first thoughts Ghost Stories according to the world of the Coldplaying forums : First track and beautiful opener, Always in My Head, according to bdevil89

The opening instrumental into AIMH is an opiate like no other. It is pure Coldplay bliss - I could listen to a 10 minute track of these two songs just looping - it's that beautiful

The upbeat and fun, Ink, in the view of the aptly named, The Philosopher

I think this one has a tribal/exotic vibe through the song, and reminds me of Strawberry Swing somehow. It's probably the catchiest song on the album, beside Magic and A Sky Full Of Stars, so maybe the next single?

The distinguished guitar solo from Jonny Buckland on emotional heartbreaker, True Love is explained excellently by Skypala

He starts out the notes playing out of key, but then bends them into the scale-- I believe it's supposed to represent sharp pangs of heartbreak that comes with the one you love lying to you when they really don't feel the same way.

Valypan had this to say about the haunting, Another's Arms

The studio version surprised me. What I noticed: *Very minimal electronic percussions *Less Jonny boy than the live version * Definitely a more synthetic vibe overall However that said, I think the studio version has a wonderful claustrophobic feel to it. Like Oceans, it seems like you are underwater when you listen to it. Converys beautifully the emotions of the song, drowning in despair so to speak. And while there is less Jonny, his riffs in the end is a bit different than the live version and I like it more Overall a beautiful track, very heartbreaking, with outstanding Chris vocals. For me it´s 50/50 with the live version. They will both find a place in my iPhone playlist

Great imagination from Indnsky, reflecting on Oceans and the outro to A Sky Full of Stars

This one is amazing. I love the hidden part... The sound of the ocean and that one sound for some reason reminds me of lighthouses. You know that light that goes in the circle. It reminds me of that. Its like being on a deserted beach in the dark. Amazing

And for the last properly unheard track from Ghost Stories, O (Fly on), howyousawtheworld tells us

Fly On pierces my heart. ASTONISHINGLY beautiful, it is the best song they've recorded since Amsterdam. It's music like this that makes you want to go out and create beauty around you.

The final track off the album features an outro that cycles back to the intro of Always in My Head, as Chris Martin told Zane Lowe, features his daughter, Apple on vocals. . O (Fly on) was also liked more times than any other track on our Facebook page.

With the release of Ghost Stories in North America and the UK is just over 1 week away, Chris Martin will feature in an exclusive interview this week, Wednesday 14th May to be precise, on the Ellen Degeneres show to talk about the upcoming album. More information will arrive soon for the show times and links for non US coldplayers!

We have obtained a picture (with thanks to rafaelchampion on our forums for finding) of Chris Martin and Tim Bergling, A.K.A Avicii when he was in the studio, helping to produce A Sky Full of Stars, when Chris felt like he was 'cheating' on the band by bringing the star studded producer into the band's studio. Timbaland was also brought in to produce the drum beat on the upcoming heartbreak tune, True Love. As many of us know too, Jon Hopkins, along with handsome Guy Berryman, produced "Ghost Stories".

As previously reported, Coldplay will play live tonight in New York. They have already played an earlier setlist at 5PM Eastern US time which added because of the insane demand for the show!
