Do you know I think there's strong possibility they're both from Topman! The V was painted on though it's just a customized tee so you could technically get one from anywhere but if it really is, as I suspect, Topman then affordable to all - hoorah!

Q. I was watching MTV world stage with Coldplay, and when the big yellow balls fell from stage during the song Yellow I realized that after the song all the balls despair so I wanted to know what did you do with all those balls??? Their concerts are pretty awesome!!

The balls don't disappear as such, they're actually balloons and people pop them. Some folk have been known to keep hold of them until the end but it's much more fun to bounce them around and pop them! Speaking of the balloons, I was asked this week what they were made from as we had a fan with a latex allergy attending a concert. The balloons are made from latex and so thought I'd point that out just in case anyone else needs that information.

Q. Dear wise one, I have asked several questions that have yet to be answered. I will ask this one for a second time. I have a very large Coldplay CD collection however, there is 1 CD I need before my collection can be complete. It is the Safety ep. Would it be too much to ask the band if they could send me a copy? I am only the biggest Coldplay fan in the US Army. I even missed the last show in my home town due to my last deployment in Afghanistan. Would it be too much to ask for that in return for my sacrifices? Please reply. Thank you!

As much as your sacrifice is a great one, I know of other fans that are stationed in war zones and missed their shows, which is of course rubbish but you are the first to ask for a Safety EP. Unfortunately we don't have any spare copies lying around because as you know they are very limited. You are one of thousands looking to complete their collection and all I can say is, there are fewer copies than people wanting them so be consoled in the knowledge that the tracks on the EP are available in their original state on The Blue Room EP and Yellow single so even though you're missing the physical CD, you're not missing the recordings.

Q. This is a follow up to the roadie question. My son is a 15 year old aspiring musician. He says if he doesn't make it in a band he could be a roadie. Do roadies have music training? What is the scope of their work? It seems like a pretty tough life from Roadie #42's accounts.

The Oracle replies:

You don't have to be trained for certain roadie (road crew) roles but there's a precise knowledge needed to be a tech. A guitar technician for example is responsible for tuning, stringing, soundchecking and maintaining the guitar. There's not necessarily any formal training but a broad understanding of the instrument is obviously going to be helpful whatever the instrument. It is a tough life but they choose to do it but it wouldn't suit everyone. Rather than explain "how to become..." I found a useful site.

It's easy to see why Coldplay have become the world's biggest band in less than a decade. Quite simply they've got brilliant songs and plenty of them - a knack for timeless melodies first displayed on Yellow which stretches to triumphant anthem Viva la Vida - THE soundtrack to pop music in 2008, writes the Herald Sun, in an extended live review.

It's harder to see why Chris Martin has such a problem with his own band; his constant self-criticism is instantly negated by the euphoric and emotional reaction that greeted Coldplay at last night's Rod Laver Arena show.

Coldplay's Chris Martin regrets giving song to Natalie Imbruglia

Coldplay's Chris Martin has revealed his dismay at giving Natalie Imbruglia [pictured] a track that he claims could have been the "best Coldplay song ever".

The song is expected to be the first single from Imbruglia's forthcoming new album 'Come To Life', and may be titled 'Scars'. "A bit annoyingly we've given her the best Coldplay song of all time," Martin joked to Heraldsun.com.au. "But because we're off-cycle we can't do it ourselves. Half of me wishes we still had it. But she sounds fucking brilliant on it. I think she has a very unique talent and an incredibly unique voice."

'Come To Life' is expected to be released in May.

A highlight for me, was of course, yellow - which was quite funny because members of the crowd up the front kept tapping the yellow baloons towards Chris, and he was hitting them with his guitar like a cricket bat. He got the crowd to sing the final part of Yellow, claiming that we were all auditioning fot TV show 'Australia's got Talent'. Very funny stuff. He also said that the track could be sold and that due to that performance the band could 'now be better than U2'. I was suprised with the addition of 'Glass of Water', but I rathered it than the 'Chinese Sleep Chant' to which it replaced. Most people didnt know it but I belted out the words! After that was Cemetaries of london, which sounded AWESOME. Encores were terrific, Chris sounded brilliant all night, his voice was right on key. So was Will's, as DWNC was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd as a 'jovial' moment of the night. I lost my voice singing LIT2, which was great because thats where the night ended! [thanks tauiwi]

Tonight's concert was incredible. I lined up from 2pm and got right on the barrier at the front. It was so unbelievably magical and amazing. From the interaction with the crowd to the butterflies and of course being right in front of Guy - he looked great tonight! Disappointed not to meet them after but very happy that I got someone's plectrum - could be either Chris' or Guy's because it came from that side of the stage. Loved that they did glass of water....shane warne was also in the crowd as well as kate cebrano who was going crazy for coldplay! [thanks sputnam]

Victorians have snapped up Sound Relief concert tickets with 60,000 selling in the first three hours. The original ticket allocation for the March 14 concert at the MCG has sold out but more seats have been released.

Sound Relief spokeswoman Reegan Stark said there were still thousands of seated tickets available for the concert, which will raise money for bushfire survivors. All standing tickets have been sold, Ms Stark said. Overwhelming demand for the $75 tickets caused delays on Ticketek's website this morning which have since eased.

More than 25,000 tickets have been sold for the SCG concert, to be staged simultaneously. Midnight Oil, Kings of Leon, Augie March, Jack Johnson, Hunters & Collectors, Split Enz, Paul Kelly and Jet will be among the performers at the Melbourne gig.

All profits from the Melbourne concert will be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal while half of the profits from the Sydney concert will go to the bushfire appeal and half to victims of Queensland's recent floods.

Coldplay and Kings of Leon are expected to play three to four songs early in the afternoon of the Sydney and Melbourne concerts respectively.

Incredible. Incredible. Incredible. It was amazing. Unbelievable, but I forgot how so enormously magnificent COLDPLAY are LIVE, live. Great finish – the butterflies in ‘Lovers In Japan’ were amazing against the backdrops – there were thousands and thousands of them! For the first time I didn’t feel disappointed after the end; most certainly because I still have two nights to go. Then as I was coming back up the stairs to my section, Miller was back removing the camera he’d previously set up, so I went over to him and asked if I could get his signature. He was really... cute, and terribly nice. He seemed a little surprised that someone was asking for his signature, but I was just like; “I know it’s a little strange, but we love you over at Coldplaying.com,” and he signed my setlist. Coldplay are bringing their highly acclaimed world tour to New Zealand later this month, and Stuff.co.nz has a CD and ticket giveaway prize pack to celebrate.

Coldplay, a British rock band widely hailed as one of the world's best, will perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on March 18 and 19. Producer Brian Eno [pictured] and former record label boss Alan McGee have become embroiled in an angry online war of words. The argument, on the micro-blogging website Twitter, began after McGee suggested Eno's productions were all capable of making people fall asleep.

Referring to Eno's latest collaboration with Coldplay, the former Oasis manager added: “Was it your idea to dress up Coldplay as the Beatles?” Eno replied to McGee's message (known on Twitter as a 'Tweet') this morning, saying: “Fuck off, wanker.”

In two further tweets, McGee also called the producer “obnoxious” and asked him what “boring shit” he planned to produce next. He added: “I would have stuck to the art installations more chance of having a decent conversation with a bulb than Coldplay or Dido/bland.”

Coldplay's Chris Martin has laughed off a personal slur by one of the world's most sanctimonious singers - Bono. The U2 singer playfully called Martin a "w--ker," a "completely dysfunctional character" and a "cretin" on live UK radio last week, as well as a "great melodist."

"I always thought he felt that way," Martin joked. "I think it's great that we're arch enemies. That's a joke too." Martin has long used U2 as the benchmark for Coldplay, with U2 saying Martin's band also keep them on their toes. The mutual lovefest continues: Coldplay are now playing U2's new single Magnificent just before they come on stage as a mark of respect.

Coldplay may not be coming for the Sunburst music fest this year but the organisers have other stars in the line-up, the New Straits Times are reporting today.

It's a definite no-show by British alternative rock band Coldplay for the upcoming Sunburst Kuala Lumpur 2009. Instead, music fans will be treated to performances by Korn, Erykah Badu, N.E.R.D, Naturally Seven and Skye on March 21 at Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club, Kuala Lumpur.

“It is expensive to bring in Coldplay,” said Pineapple Concerts managing director Razman Razali. “If we bring the band down, then Sunburst would only be Coldplay and the local acts,” he added. “There wouldn’t be any diversity in the line-up.”

Korn and Erykah Badu seem to be the perfect fill for the void left by Coldplay.

Coldplay will open the Sydney Sound Relief event with a full band instead of the previously announced acoustic show.

In making the announcement, organizer Michael Chugg said: "We were thrilled when Coldplay first agreed to be a part of Sound Relief, even just with an acoustic set, considering they already have eleven shows to play while they are in Australia. But now with the news that they will be opening the day in full band/electric mode, well, what a way to kick off this massive event!"

Sound Relief, which will be held on March 14, was announced last week to raise money for the victims of the Victorian Bushfires as well as those effected by the Queensland floods. “Sound Relief is shaping up to be the greatest charity concert Australia has ever produced, we hope the whole of country can get behind us and show their support when tickets go on sale on Wednesday morning”.

For a man who has been a bona fide star since he was 23, Chris Martin appears to be well grounded. He may enjoy a lavish lifestyle with a movie-star wife and all the trappings of modern celebrity but where it matters most, in the studio and in concert, Coldplay's sandy-haired frontman is working as hard as ever.

On Friday night in Perth, on the first date of their Australian tour, Coldplay took to the stage in French Revolution-inspired gear - a touch ironic for millionaires, one would think - and showed that the mantle of biggest band in the world rests rather comfortably on their shoulders.

They have been building towards this moment with four hugely successful albums; if they are at the pinnacle of "when I ruled the world" - as they describe on Viva La Vida - they are doing it with style.

This show does not rely on showbusiness schtick or overpowering personalties. Nor should it, for these are not Coldplay's stocks in trade. Yet if personality was in limited supply, energy certainly wasn't as the four-piece delivered a big, bold and spectacular 100-minute set where they used much of the space within the Burswood Dome to draw 17,000 people to them and inject an appreciable amount of intimacy.

They played all the hits - such as Clocks, The Scientist, In My Place, Fix You and The Hardest Part - in straightforward, instantly recognisable fashion. They utilised eye-catching effects such as hanging massive globes from the ceiling that transmitted distorted images from the screens at the front of the stage, and confetti-filled balls that bounced through the venue. They also played mini sets at other points in the room, including the nosebleed section up the back, but the show never outshone the material.

On their first national Australian tour, halfway down the bill at the 2001 Big Day Out festival, Martin looked almost overwhelmed as 20,000 people took up the stirring chorus to their first hit Yellow. Since then, Coldplay have achieved almost out-of-the-box success. This time around, Martin looked at home as he separated the audience into three sections to orchestrate a huge singalong.

The result was impressive enough but even better was the manner in which the crowd began singing (not shouting) in new songs such as Lost! and Viva La Vida without any prompting from the band. At those moments it was apparent that their reign looks set to continue for some time yet.

It's Made With Love in Brazil, part of Made With Love, "a non-profit global initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for NGOs* aiding women and children in need through the production and sale of fair trade indigenous products". It's not the band's rules, different venues have different restrictions and Wembley just happen to have an "All children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult" policy. It's probably a safety issue given the size. There doesn't seem to be the same age restrictions for the Glasgow & Manchester shows if that helps?

Actor David Hasselhoff, star of Baywatch, has revealed that he is a fan of Coldplay, according to GigWise reports.

Hasselhoff, who is known to audiences around the world as lifeguard Mitch Buchanan, said he had been introduced to the British group by his children. He praises the British band saying: "My daughters turned me on to Coldplay a long time ago. I follow their lead," he told XFM. "They’re so hip, they’re 16 and 18 and they know what’s going down."

Hasselhoff attended the BRIT Awards last month, where he presented the prize for Best British Band to Elbow.

Coldplay is claiming the copyright of concert pictures taken by professional photographers, demanding complete ownership of the images, according to WebVivant, a British freelance photography site based in France. They write:

This is becoming all too common. Coldplay is just the latest in the line of high-profile bands who want to grab the rights to pictures taken of them in concert. If you're a professional photographer, you won't get a pass to take pictures of the band during their gigs unless you are accredited to a magazine. And even then, you'll need to sign an agreement that forces you to give away your pictures.

This is part of a larger trend, one that involves no small amount of hypocrisy. One the one hand, photographers' clients are reducing fees, using amateurs (so-called citizen journalists, micro-stock etc). There's a strong implication that the skills and artistic talent of photographers isn't worth much - certainly not as much as it used to be.

"I realised it could have been, but there was no friction on either side. First of all they know each other. Bono said he thought it was a good idea. Gates opened about 6.15pm. I wasn't the first one INTO the Dome, but somehow I managed to run/walk past everyone else in front of me to be the first at the barrier. So front row centre it was. Straight to Coldplay now, the boys started out with LiT, Violet Hill, Clocks and IMP, same as the previous concerts. Not much variation in the setlist. I'll get Chris to post the setlist, I left mine in my room hahaha. I was holding up a sign that said 'Jonny is my Guitar Hero' to the dismay of Chris beside me . The guy working the video camera told me to hold it up and he took a shot of it Chris saw it during the ending of Violet Hill and he winked at me and gestured to Jonny. I tried hard to get Jonny's attention, the people beside me helped as well, but it was only after DAAHF when they were leaving the stage before the encore that he say it. He smiled so sweetly at me. Of all the songs, LiJ was definitely my favourite live. I managed to stuff my bag full of butterflies at the end of the gig The Scientist too, and LiT II. At the end of the gig, we tried getting Hoppy's attention but he had earplugs on so he couldn't hear us. The security shooed us away from the barrier, but I ran to the sound booth and asked them for a setlist. This was when the soundman told me he saw my banner just now from the stage and it was the best banner he's seen so far this tour. Managed to get a setlist. [thanks but a dream]

The gig tonight was brilliant! Loved all of it. First time I've seen Coldplay live, and am so glad I went. We had tickets in the front mosh. Especially loved Politik, plus, Viva La Vida, The Scientist, Lost.. oh the whole set list was fantastic. And the balloons and millions of butterflies just added to the whole show. [thanks cocoperth]

The media are calling it Coldplay bloody Coldplay. But yesterday the BBC were forced to apologise after Bono called Chris Martin a "w***er" and a "cretin" live on Radio 1.

The U2 frontman had just played the Live Lounge with his band and was speaking with Jo Whiley when he reportedly made the comment about the Coldplay singer. A BBC spokeswoman apologised for any offence the remark may have caused to listeners. "An on-air apology was made immediately for the language used," she said, adding that she was not aware of any viewer complaints lodged following the interview.

As part of a new weekly concert series from MTV Networks International, Coldplay's show at the Tokyo Saitama Super Arena on 12th February was screened on 62 MTV channels around the world tonight. Coldplay's show in Toronto in July has not only had a new venue announced, the date has also changed. More discussion on this show and the build up to the ticket scramble next month at the Coldplay Live forum here onwards [thanks rchop]. Here's Anchorman with more details:

Good afternoon. We can now confirm that the venue for Coldplay's previously-announced Toronto show in July is the Rogers Centre. The show has also moved back a day to 30th July. Tickets go on sale from here on Monday 9th March at 12noon EST.

Meanwhile, a presale for Coldplay tickets at the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Sacramento, CA on Tuesday 14th July will begin at 10am (local time) on Saturday 28th February, from Live Nation.
