Attention German Coldplay fans!

Eventim.de writes that there will be three open air gigs in Germany in summer 2009. The shows will be in Düsseldorf, Hannover and Munich. Currently the dates and ticket prices are still unknown but you can register with their site now for the 'ticketalarm'. They let you know as soon as the dates of the concerts are confirmed and tickets become available.

Music publisher EMI faces a crunch Christmas as it struggles to deal with £2.7 billion of loans from Citigroup.

Analysts today warned that it needs to generate enough cash by March to meet its obligations with the bank. It also needs a bumper festive season to revive its struggling music business. Terra Firma, the private-equity firm run by Guy Hands which bought EMI for £2.4 billion at the height of the buyout boom in May last year, may be forced to inject funds to prevent a default on the loans.

EMI is set for a tough Christmas, the busiest part of the year for music sales. Its headline CD releases hardly set the pulse racing for music fans. They include a new album from Tom Jones, and one from Coldplay that is made up of songs which did not make it on to the band's last hit album, Viva La Vida.

Terra Firma put £10 million into the company three months ago to stop it defaulting on its loans, although it is unclear how big the new injection would need to be.

As previously reported, Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay, claiming the UK band's Grammy-nominated song Viva La Vida uses one of his melodies. In court papers filed on 4 December 2008, Satriani's legal team alleges Viva La Vida, the title track of Coldplay's current album, copies "substantial original portions" of his song If I Could Fly.

Satriani's song was included on his 2004 album Is There Love In Space? Speaking exclusively to MusicRadar on 6 December, Joe Satriani recalls the exact emotion he felt when he first heard Coldplay's Viva La Vida. "I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much," Satriani says. "The second I heard it, I knew it was [my own] If I Could Fly."

As it turned out, Satriani wasn't the only one who noticed the similarity between If I Could Fly and Viva La Vida. "Almost immediately, from the minute their song came out, my e-mail box flooded with people going, 'Have you heard this song by Coldplay? They ripped you off man.' I mean, I couldn't tell you how many e-mails I received.

WOW!!! That was awesome, excellent, incredible, amazing, great!!! I got some butterflies, whoop! Life In Technicolor ii was one of the best moments of my life. Lovers In Japan was one of the best moments of my life too. The whole show was one of the best moments of my life! My voice is wrecked and my hands are nearly bleeding from clapping so much, but I don't care I also saw Xavi Alonso (Liverpool player) and Robbie Fowler (ex-Liverpool, current Blackburn), so that was pretty darn cool. I saw the twice in Florida and whilst they were both amazing, this was just on another level. I think the mixture of a fantastic audience, them being in an amazing mood, plus them being completely on form performance wise made it the best evening of my life. And surely one of the best for the boys. They honestly did seem overwhelmed and dumbfounded by the response and I'm sooo glad I got to be a part of that. [thanks mimixxx]

This was my fifth Coldplay concert and I have to say it was by far the best. When I saw them during the X & Y album, they seemed to be a band kinda going through the motions. Last night was just four guys having the time of their lives. They all seemed so up for it - as were the crowd! I've had my fair share of moans about Liverpool audiences in the past, but last night they sang their hearts out. I could go on and on, but I'm still in the grip of the 'flu. I will say that 42 was brill - it's a song I've never been a huge fan of, and that Will sounded great on Death Will Never Conquer. I hope it's not the last time we get to hear him take a lead vocal.The absolute highlight, however, had to be Viva La Vida. The crowd went absolutley mental and maybe it was just me, but that song actually sounded louder than all the others. Everyone just had so much fun. [thanks RedGirl76]

I know this is sorta late, but i feal i have to just relive that, That was absolutely amazing, Dead centre front row! They Walked on carrying Sparklers, and imediately divulged into an energetic set. The set that we seen was the norm, however with a strange ending to Chinese sleep chant instrumental that i'd never seen before. Chris was realy up for it, and the Crowd more than Followed. Baloons during Yellow, and looking up into the skies to see a sea of glow in the dark butterflies fall gracefully onto you is awe inspiring. We Took our French flag with Viva la Vida on it, And thought that we should throw it on stage, so during the Politik we did, Chris noted it, Played on and then Just before Lovers, Picked it up and put it around him!! then put it around Will who smiled at us!!! At the end when they do there salute, it was around wills arms! At the end of the Show, we got a Set list off one of the techs, and Got a Plec of Johnny, Each!!!! And chris came over to us, and put two thumbs up. Didnt get the flag back like, but im glad because its nice to immagine where it is now. Absolutely fantastic Night. [thanks Bilbo-215]

I feel for you I really do but all I can say is, we did announce it on the website and updated the Live section. The responsibility lies with your ticket source so you would have to take the issue up with the point of purchase. This won't help you at all but I received a letter this week from someone from Mumbai who had they not been in the UK for the rescheduled date on Monday would have been having dinner with friends at the Taj Mahal Hotel back home, where one of them lost their father in the terrorist attack. That won't replace your lost cash but I hope it will make you see that someone benefited from the date change in ways that we hopefully never comprehend.

Coldplay's Life In Technicolor ii 2-track single promo has been found on eBay.co.uk. The CD features both the Radio Edit and the Prospekt's March EP version - the tracklisting written on the promo sleeve is as follows:

That was one of te best shows I've ever been to! 5th time seeing them live. Twice at T, supporting U2 at Slane Castle and last time at Bellahouston Park. This was the first indoor gig so I've been looking forward to for months. When we took to our seats (section K) I noticed there was a bit boxed off in the section next to me. I was 90% certain that they would play there and they did. What a buzz!!! If I wasn't so financially tight with Xmas I would be there again on Tuesday night but I'll just have to wait for Hampden now instead. Pics & Vids ot follow but now I'm away to get some rest for Kings of Leon tomorrow. Its the Carlsberg weekend for me. They even paid a wee tribute to Travis during Green Eyes by singing 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me' in one of the lines! Nice! Have to say the oddest (and also the funniest) part of the night was the couple sat to my right who left after 6 songs. They were all tarted up. You could tell they hadn't been to a rock concert before lets put it that way. She had the fur coat and all the bling on her fingers and probably elsewhere too (I never asked lol) and was so pissed off cos folk were standing in front of her. They buggered off never to be seen again lol! Was cool cos we could move about a bit more. Who leaves a gig after 25 mins anyway?? Pair of fuds! [thanks kevvvy]

That was just the best I've seen them! Such a great atmosphere. Everyone was dancing and singing, really up for it. I'm just ecstatic they played Green Eyes...I won't even begin to tell you. Have sooo many videos but have pretty much broken my friend's puter trying to upload them so I'll hold off for when I get home! Chris was changing lyrics all over the joint. It's a bit of a blur....lol He said something about being away from Tunnocks Caramel Wafers compared to this song - the hardest part lol. there was a couple next to us sitting down for most of it but everyone else was up dancing and singing. Dancing in the aisles and everything....twas great!! [thanks fudge]

The guys totally rocked. The crowd was completely up for it. The atmosphere was unbelieveable. The highlights for me were Yellow.... the whole place playing punch the massive yellow balloons back at Chris. The B stage set perform right in front of us. Lovers in Japan with thousands of luminous butterflies. The Scientist when Chris changed the words ...'Come up to Glasgow, dying to see you. Don't know how fucking awesome you are' ...superb. Not mentioned was that he sang the first verse and chorus of Take That's Back for Good. But perhaps the best thing was the crowd constantly singing the chorus from Vida La Viva even on the way to the train station....how cool is that! [thanks sg2006]

Soul music singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan stated that she wants to record a song with Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin, reports AceShowbiz.com.

"I actually want to do a song with Chris Martin," Jazmine confessed to People during an interview. "So maybe somebody will introduce me to him, or I can slip him an album and he can listen!"

Apart from her desire to collaborate with Chris Martin, Jazmine Sullivan also shared her excitement concerning her being nominated for four nods at 51st Annual Grammy Awards, which is to be held on February 8, 2009, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. "It was surreal," she claimed. "I've been working for this my whole life and to see it finally pay off is just wonderful."

Jazmine received five counts; Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Contemporary Album, Best R&B Song, and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance; for the upcoming Grammy Awards. In Best New Artist category, she will compete with other contenders, Jonas Brothers, Adele, Duffy and Lady Antebellum.

Rock guitarist Joe Satriani has sued Coldplay, accusing the Grammy-nominated stars of plagiarizing one of his songs, reports Yahoo today.

Satriani's copyright infringement suit, filed on Thursday in Los Angeles federal court, claims the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" incorporates "substantial original portions" of his 2004 instrumental "If I Could Fly."

The 52-year-old guitar virtuoso is seeking a jury trial, damages and "any and all profits" attributable to the alleged copyright infringement. Coldplay, whose soaring atmospheric tunes are often compared to those of Irish rock band U2, received seven Grammy nominations on Wednesday, second only to rapper Lil Wayne. Among its mentions were nominations in the key record and song of the year categories for "Viva La Vida," which comes from the band's chart-topping album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends."

Q. Dear Oracle, I understand you are a busy man, however, I am spending a small fortune to come to the UK and would like an answer before I do. I bought tickets to the Wembley show, ticketmaster said they could be delivered as late as 10 days before the show because the promoter is supplying the tickets. I would hate to be traveling to the UK and the tickets arrive at my home in the US. Do you know when the tickets will be sent?

No I do not. It is standard practice not to post tickets until closer to the show date and so you need to contact them directly. Try their online FAQ first. Ask what their policy is for international purchases. Ticketmaster sometimes have a print at home option at the time of purchase so maybe they could arrange this for you now?

I move about quite a bit and do not have a permanent address. I also reside outside of UK. So the question is can I change the address given at the time of booking, later? Will they send me the tickets in time to receive it before I leave to the UK for the concert. I am the slightly (okay, highly) panicky sort. So a lil reassurance would be nice. The competition is over so I am all yours! Hoorah! When I go to See Tickets I can access my own account and it clearly says: CHANGE DELIVERY ADDRESS so it should be that simple for you too. I suggest you get them mailed to an address within the U.K though. I only received tickets yesterday for an event in less than two weeks so if you do it now, you may be in time.

I can't assure you it's abnormal no, as it's very commonplace and has been around for centuries. They are just words. I know not everyone agrees and it is a personal choice. It is also a form of expression and as that is personal too it cannot be something one is told not to do. I don't wish to sound uncaring but whatever Chris says, it's no worse than kids hear in the playground these days or on television. It does seem to be more acceptable than previously but I am quite sure he wasn't effing and jeffing every other word. Swearing can sometimes perfectly illustrate a passion, mood, reaction and can be humorous. If it makes you feel any better as a father, Chris' Dad doesn't like Chris swearing either!

British acts have dominated the nominations for record of the year at the Grammy Awards. Coldplay, Adele, Leona Lewis, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and MIA will all compete with each other for the major honour at the awards show on February 8.

Coldplay, Radiohead, and Plant will also face each other in the album of the year category while Welsh singer Duffy, who shot to number one with her catchy single, Mercy, and fellow British soul singer Adele were among those nominated for best new artist. In all, Coldplay received an impressive seven nominations but rapper Lil' Wayne - with eight nods, including album of the year for Tha Carter III - is expected to be the big winner on the night. Coldplay don't plan to retire early after all, reports Chartattack.

Two weeks after singer Chris Martin hinted that next year may be the last for the world's biggest selling band, he says that's not the case and that the band plan to record and release the follow-up to Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends in 2009. "We're proceeding as if it's our last, because it's the only way to proceed," Martin told Rollingstone.com. "You've got to have deadlines, you know. What that means is we're going to pour everything we can into next year and not think beyond that. We always say that and we always mean it. But every time we say it, someone writes that it's over. I don't think we'll ever split up, but we have to do a lot before we're 33."

Coldplay have apparently started experimenting with new material in various studios. They're in the midst of a U.K. tour and will perform in Japan and Australia in February and March. Jay-Z, who collaborated with Coldplay on "Lost+" on the newly released Prospekts March EP, will open for the band at three U.K. stadium shows next September.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin [pictured] has revealed that the group will unveil a new image in 2009 – because their current garb smells too much, reports Gigwise.

Coldplay's present pseudo-military look, inspired by the themes on their latest album 'Viva La Vida or Death and All Hist Friends', has drawn a mixed response from fans and critics. Many have questioned whether the group have worn the same outfits for their entire world tour. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Martin said: “The Pittsburgh Steelers wear the same outfit every week, and no one expects them to change. But wear the same outfit on both Leno and Letterman, and suddenly it's an issue."

Asked why the band planned to unveil a new image, Martin replied: "We're not sick of the theme - just the smell.”

Coldplay have added a second gig at London's Wembley Stadium after their first sold out.

The group sold out their gig at the massive venue on September 19 2009, but have added another night there on September 18. Coldplay have also announced that Girls Aloud will support them at a newly announced second date at London’s Wembley Stadium. Chris Martin has been vocal in his fandom of the band, who will appear below Coldplay on Friday 18 September. Jay-Z is already lined-up to support them at their three previously-announced mega-gigs in Manchester, Glasgow and Wembley.

London Wembley Stadium (18, 19)

Tickets for the new gig go on sale from 9.30am on Friday 5 December.

Girls Aloud will reportedly serve as an opening act for Coldplay's live concert at London's Wembley Stadium. If the rumor is true, the all's girl group will take the Wembley's stage alongside the "Viva La Vida" hitmakers on September 19, 2009.

"Coldplay are huge pop fans. They love Take That and all the mainstream chart stuff," a source told The Sun. "Girls Aloud are the ideal support group. They will get the Wembley crowd worked up into a frenzy before the main attraction. Chris Martin is a fan and had them on his wishlist from the start of tour plans."

Just got back from the concert. Absolutely amazing night!!! I didn't keep a note of the set list but the set list in the image is wrong. Trouble was not played. Though green eyes was!!!, which was amazing. Also it is the the wrong order for instance the talk remix was not played after DWNC. So basically don't rely on it. (Just a few things I instantly noticed...its late). Nope cemeteries wasn't played unfortunately. The concert itself was epic. Coldplay really do sound just as good live as on CD, if not better. At the start me and my friends were the only people to stand up in our block to LIT but eventually everyone got on there feet to chant the 'whoooaaa' bit towards the end. Chris and the band, as expected, put on an amazing performance with the lights (lasers were amazing) , sound, music, everything just being perfect. Chris also does a great job of getting everyone singing and 12,000+ people singing fix you ended up with one of my friends in tears. It was that incredibly moving. The support band was ok apart from a DJ (Don't remember his name) who seemed to be playing the same music for about 25 minutes to some very strange video.

Coldplay will perform a concert in May 2009 at the Gland-based music and multimedia studio Dinemec, marking the first of a series of half a dozen shows a year for a very select group of spectators, reports website swisster.ch tonight.

The invitation-only events organised by the studio aim to team-up artists who are fighting for a cause with some of the decision-makers of humanitarian and environmental organisations.

Coldplay have announced a third Melbourne concert - before the first two have even gone on sale, the Herald Sun are reporting today.

The band will now perform at Rod Laver Arena on March 3, 4 and 5 next year. All tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow from Ticketek, priced between $120 and $140. Promoter Michael Chugg said seeing the intense demand from an early pre-sale of selected tickets prompted the multiple shows. "We decided that we needed to add these extra shows now so that the fans know there will be tickets available for them tomorrow," Chugg said.
