Rumours and discussion on the timing of Coldplay's new single and album have gone into overdrive in the last few days, as the band's festival tour dates loom large. Official sources are tight-lipped about any new release, but in 16 days Coldplay will hit the stage at the Rock am Ring/Rock im Park festivals in Germany whilst their new album hits the mixing tables in New York (or so we're led to believe).

We have previously reported what the media have said about no new festival material and of course the Oracle has discussed this before but until official dates are announced the rumour mill rumbles on (add your point of view now!).

So, we want to know what you think in our latest poll - when do you think we will hear a new single from Coldplay? If you're not sure - you're not alone! Here are just some of the latest comments to come out of the "When do you think LP5 will come out?" thread in the Coldplay forum...

My belief (not fact) in this moment, is that there are parts of the record being already mixed (Markus Dravs involved apart from the main mixers) or maybe (I say maybe) that it's possible that it's been totally mixed in this moment. In fact, if there's a single to arrive soon, in terms of a few weeks (like Mr. Buckland said) then it must have been already mixed or will be mixed in terms of just days, before the live acts begin. Have you checked Michael H. Brauer's (one of the main mixers of "Viva" and "Christmas Lights") twitter (twitter.com/mhb850) or website (www.mbrauer.com) in the last few weeks? He remains very silent about current projects..., except for courses in France, and then he's not in his New York studio. And Mr. Martin was photographed in New York just days ago. Expect a big anouncement sooner than you think. That's all I can say, folks [thanks locust7]

Personally I found the way of releasing/promotion LP5 highly confusing. Because we know album has name and biggest part has been already recorded. So why in this case they can't give us some info? Perhaps Martin is waiting until the last moment for some genius sparkle, I don't know. But I know exactly that lack of news is pissing me off. Thats why I think they have some problems with songs/sound/etc. Single should be announced at least a month before release and couple of month before album release. We have 2 weeks before first festival and band is working hard to be ready. There are simply no room for single, sorry guys. We are fans and hope for better but we shouldn't be delusional. Oracle told us no new material at festivals. We heard nothing about album. If the single would come we definitely will hear something, because it's impossible to prevent this sort of news from leaking. I prepare for worst. I have thought all along that they could not be headlining summer festivals all over the world without a new album out...4 LPs are not enough to keep mainstream rockers (not die-hard CP fans) interested with old songs, you know?....Just sayin'...it would be the best plan for them to release a new album before the touring begins.. Blagh. I'm so over waiting for something new from them. Seriously, no matter how little time or how long a time before a single/album was released that they announced something new was coming people will still buy it. Kind of disappointing Roadie 42 has been silent for over a month now. I think we got the impression we were going to be getting a steady stream of news. Something tells me that might be a good sign though. Obviously they're busy preparing for the festivals, but maybe we're closer to an album and single than it might seem. If they were still providing steady info at this stage, I'd have to imagine that meant they were trying to satiate us. Hopefully the pre-album unfolding will really kick into gear soon. I think we have to be positive about how they've already incorporated the new album themes into the presentation. That means a serious aspect of the final design is already complete or close to it. As far as I'm concerned, the album is at least nearly done. A single could easily be ready for presentation. Moreover, I never saw a clear statement that said: There won't be any new songs at the festivals. All I've seen was overinterpretation and a reaction to this that said something like "I don't think there's anything bad about playing a greatest hits set with old songs at festivals". Themes of the album are clear, the website shows that. Not only from the information in this thread, but also from the latest roadie blog it seems clear, that everything is near finished. So there must be songs that could at least be played live. => First new song(s) June, 3rd at the latest. And the following day it's not too unlikely that the peformance will be televised live on German TV. So we could hear the first high quality version(s) on June, 4th. [thanks r25d01]

Single could be present today by web, easily. But the point is promotion. That means shitload of interview, radio appearances, live show, etc all over the world, or at least in major markets like USA, UK, West Europe. People need to be aware, new Coldplay songs is coming. Not only fans, but other people too. For proper presentation they need at least month. And be sure something would definitely leak, because this sort of things arranged long time before. Coldplay isn't some small independent band. EMI suffers and needs money, be sure owners will squeeze every cent from biggest and popular band in the world. [thanks Odvan]

As you will know by now, as a 'thank you' to the fans, Coldplay handed out LeftRightLeftRightLeft, a free nine-track CD to everyone who attended one of the band's concerts last summer. If you did not go to a Coldplay show in 2009 where CDs were being handed out or simply couldn't find the supplies and therefore not able to receive your very own physical copy of LeftRightLeftRightLeft, worry not!

We still have a CD mailing exchange programme where you can sign up to receive a free CD from another member who will have spare copies from the shows they've attended - go there for full details. If you have been to a Coldplay show in 2009 and have spare CDs that you are able to share with your fellow Coldplayers, please let us know in that thread also. [thanks Cobalt]

So far, the CDs were handed out at over 60 shows. The album, which mostly features cuts from Viva La Vida, contains 9 live tracks in all that had been recorded during different stops on the band's worldwide tours of the last few years. In the hope of collecting useful feedback from Coldplayers on the CD giveaway at all the shows as they progress through the 2009 tour, please leave your comments at the Coldplay Live forum on how you got a CD, how many you were given (how many you could have got), and whether you got one at all. It would be useful to mention which show you attended as well.

Coldplaying has been receiving more messages from concertgoers regarding receiving a CD after the show, and there have been a lot of happy punters out there, but it seems that there were still some problems at the most recent shows, in Glasgow, Manchester and London. Here are some of the latest comments...

I thought the 'handing out' was not very well organized in the UK/Ireland as you literally had to go SEARCHING for the people with the CDs while in the Netherlands/Germany you just couldn't miss being given a CD. Didn't see anyone at Wembley on the 19th, handing out the CDs but I wasn't that desperate as I got my copy the night before ... [thanks LittleMissMessy]

Everything was arranged perfectly at Wembley, except for the handing out of the LRLRL cd's (although on the 18th it was quite easy to get one, didn't even have to wait, they were just standing outside) it seems. [thanks Stefan-C8]

I only got one on the second (Wembley) show, and I had to go around and search for it for quite a while until I found one. Didn't see anyone with a CD the first night, which was a bit weird, and obviously not any people handing it out either... It was very badly arranged indeed, it was very easy to get hold of one after the Stockholm show for example. On the other hand, that arena is a lot smaller, so that was probably why. Wembley the 2nd night there was even a guy given them out in a kebab shop in wembley! some girl just grabbed about 20 off him! Although i feel for those who didnt get a CD, i dont think people should be complaining, Coldplay probably put alot of money into giving these FREE Cd's away. [thanks Liam]

it was a nightmare at glasgow to find the cd people,they were handing them out from a small table a good bit away from the stadium and i had to go searchin,they were givin them out in bundles like they were just tryin to get rid of them so they could pack up n go,thats how i got 3,dont think Coldplay would've been happy bout the crap organization cos after all it was their gift to us fans. They were SO many LRLRL cds at Wembley that they probably had to throw away full boxes ! I have like 6 albums since when I was walking in front of the stadium many guys who were holding them kept giving me some It was so sad, there were many albums on the floor the first day, totally smashed and everything... Manchester distribution was a joke (didn't see ANY) and Wembley Saturday was a joke (didn't see ANY). That's four CDs my group were promised that we never even had the chance to get, and some of us have only subsequently been able to get copies from the kindness of people here. An absolute farce of organisation, and it was clear right from the start of this leg that giving them out at the end wasn't working....why not give each person one CD as they entered??? ^ I completely agree! Being right at the front, I thought that they might have run out of them by the time I came to leave. At my gate I spoke to an "information" person who said I should go to gate M, where I went - there were none. I spoke to another info person who said I should go to gate J - there were none. I then spoke to a third "info" person who said - round the corner - there were none. I gave up, as I didn't want to miss the last tube. I went to both nights of the Wembley Stadium tour and I found it Extremley easy to find and obtain my cd!! there was a huge push on the friday night and I still managed to get all 5 cd's for the people in our party. Saturday night was less busy as if people didn't even want a cd! both nights I wasn't the first out the Stadium and stayed for the full show! and still got my copys. I also had a tube to catch. I am gald Coldplay went through the trouble and am extremley grateful, what a gift! Both shows were amazing and I will remember the memories forever. I was amazed at how well organised everything was! first in last out allday queing all of this will add to the memories! The Olimpic way was well manned at the end of both nights and i got my cd the tube a maccies and was back at the hotel for 12!!! Brilliant!! I was at the Toronto show and I had an unfortunate time trying to get a CD. All of the exits were so clogged and painfully slow; my sister and I tried to find ways of getting out of there alive (it was really hot inside). We reached the exit to one of the gates and we saw a man (who works at the venue) and he was giving out the CDs but told us: "I have no more CDs, all of the boxes are empty" and I think a person in front of us said: "Well no wonder, I see people taking 5 or 6 CDs instead of just taking one". He replied to the man by saying there are tons on Ebay...it frustrated a lot of the people. So my sister and I thought that even though we didn't get a CD, we had the best time of our lives. We met up with our mum (who was in the 500s and had left a bit early) and she said she got us CDs because she knew something like this would happen since 45,000 people were trying to leave the gates! All in all, I think Rogers Centre could have done something differently so that each person got a CD. We saw a lot of people without CDs as well as others with 4 or 5 in their hands. [thanks Aunie]

At the Rogers Ctr. show in Toronto, people exiting were funnelled through sets of barriers to be given their CD by venue staff. Becasue it was so hot and humid that night, it made for a very uncomfortable, prolonged mass exit. At least one person passed out, causing congestion on either side of that line. The public areas between the stadium and the exits were not well ventilated and we were packed like sardiines. I know some people were quite claustrophobic and near panic, which was a little scary for a moment. The "handing out" involved a venue staffer holding a stack of CD's in one hand a a box of them in the other. One could have taken as many as they liked. In our party of 3, two of us each took one, and the 3rd person declined, preferring to download it to his MP3. LOVE the CD! It's like re-living the concert over and over! [thanks Ziggy]

I was an Oxfam volunteer at the Atlanta show. We were given the task of handing out the CDs at the end of the show... There were hands EVERYWHERE! For the most part everyone was very kind, took one CD and said thank you. Others were slightly greedy and would try to hide the one they already had and grabbed another one. It isnt easy to concentrate when you have 14,000 people coming at you with their hand out... I was able to keep one cd for myself. When the last box I had was down to 20 CDs and there were still a few hundred people comeing out I handed them out as quick as possible and then FLED THE AREA like OJ at a murder scene... At Lakewood in Atlanta it was very mellow. The crowd to leave was a bit ,well crowded. My wife and I walked up to the exit and got our CD and out of the venue quickly. They had other exits for those who did not care to stand in line as well. When you come in could be better and quicker I think, but it is the venues staff not CP's. Here’s what happened - there were Oxfam volunteers at the gates, standing under butterfly balloons, handing them out. And I have talked to audience members who saw them - at this point, it’s only been people who went out the north exit, near the main entrance, who did - and saw that there was a mad dash for them. i thought it went very smoothly in atlanta. if you didn't want a cd, you could exit on the sides. i got one cd and it's great. however, i wonder why they just didn't give people a download code or something for itunes or something. could have saved them tons of money and saved a lot of waste, as much as they are into saving the earth and all, you know? at least there's no plastic covers on them or anything. anyway, i didn't run into any problems and was near the middle of the pack exiting, although i was in the pit. we just ran to get out to make sure we got a cd [thanks librahi]

The CD's were being handed out by Oxfam volunteers and I felt VERY bad for them. They were being bombarded with people. People were even trying to take the boxes away from them, I wanted to stay and help them out but my friend was in a rush. I don't know how they'll arrange the CD giveaway at the next venue, but the way it was at West Palm Beach, you just have to look for where there is a crowd bombarding each other. Getting there early won't help, the hand out CD's after their performance. What I did was make sure not to leave without a CD. Yes, the volunteers handing out the CD's was a bit hard to find at first, but there were several volunteers. Look for one who isn't being completely bombarded. And be nice! Don't attack them! I could not find the free CD LeftRightLeftRightLeft that was supposed to be given away last night at Cruzan Amphitheatre in W. Palm Beach. I asked several Cruzan personnel in several different areas and they all responded that they had no information about a “supposed free CD from Coldplay” at that show. I asked some jocks at a radio station booth and they said the CDs would be given away as everyone exits. We were funneled out of the venue, past dozens of Cruzan staffers and none were giving away the CD. No one leaving had a CD.

We were promised this by Chris Martin and now it seems to be an empty promise. How can it be that the personnel in charge knew nothing of this giveaway? They were dismissive of my request for information. I even went back over to Cruzan this morning to speak with someone in authority and got nowhere. The woman at the ticket office was rolling her eyes over my request for information or help. She said they were not responsible and did not know anything about it and to call the front desk on Monday. I am being swept aside.

I want to know if Coldplay members have any idea of the thousands of fans that are now left with bitter feelings regarding the CDs. I will call Cruzan’s front office on Monday but a fat lot of good that will do me, and I know it. Why did this happen? I feel robbed now. If I find those employees horded the CDs that were supposed to be for ticket-buying fans and are selling them on eBay, I will be calling all the major newspapers and TV stations in the area. I want the CDs (one for my daughter and one for me). [name supplied]

Some greedy bastard obtained TEN copies of LRLRL and is selling them [edit: already sold for $100 not including P&P!] as a bundle on eBay. It was supposed to be 1 CD for 1 ticket, therefore some people missed out because of this guy! [thanks Benjamin]

At the Rogers Ctr. show in Toronto, people exiting were funnelled through sets of barriers to be given their CD by venue staff. Becasue it was so hot and humid that night, it made for a very uncomfortable, prolonged mass exit. At least one person passed out, causing congestion on either side of that line. The public areas between the stadium and the exits were not well ventilated and we were packed like sardiines. I know some people were quite claustrophobic and near panic, which was a little scary for a moment. The "handing out" involved a venue staffer holding a stack of CD's in one hand a a box of them in the other. One could have taken as many as they liked. In our party of 3, two of us each took one, and the 3rd person declined, preferring to download it to his MP3. LOVE the CD! It's like re-living the concert over and over! [thanks Ziggy]

I was an Oxfam volunteer at the Atlanta show. We were given the task of handing out the CDs at the end of the show... There were hands EVERYWHERE! For the most part everyone was very kind, took one CD and said thank you. Others were slightly greedy and would try to hide the one they already had and grabbed another one. It isnt easy to concentrate when you have 14,000 people coming at you with their hand out... I was able to keep one cd for myself. When the last box I had was down to 20 CDs and there were still a few hundred people comeing out I handed them out as quick as possible and then FLED THE AREA like OJ at a murder scene... At Lakewood in Atlanta it was very mellow. The crowd to leave was a bit ,well crowded. My wife and I walked up to the exit and got our CD and out of the venue quickly. They had other exits for those who did not care to stand in line as well. When you come in could be better and quicker I think, but it is the venues staff not CP's. And I have talked to audience members who saw them - at this point, it’s only been people who went out the north exit, near the main entrance, who did - and saw that there was a mad dash for them. i thought it went very smoothly in atlanta. if you didn't want a cd, you could exit on the sides. i got one cd and it's great. however, i wonder why they just didn't give people a download code or something for itunes or something. could have saved them tons of money and saved a lot of waste, as much as they are into saving the earth and all, you know? at least there's no plastic covers on them or anything. anyway, i didn't run into any problems and was near the middle of the pack exiting, although i was in the pit. we just ran to get out to make sure we got a cd [thanks librahi]

The CD's were being handed out by Oxfam volunteers and I felt VERY bad for them. They were being bombarded with people. People were even trying to take the boxes away from them, I wanted to stay and help them out but my friend was in a rush. I don't know how they'll arrange the CD giveaway at the next venue, but the way it was at West Palm Beach, you just have to look for where there is a crowd bombarding each other. Getting there early won't help, the hand out CD's after their performance. What I did was make sure not to leave without a CD. Yes, the volunteers handing out the CD's was a bit hard to find at first, but there were several volunteers. Look for one who isn't being completely bombarded. And be nice! Don't attack them! I could not find the free CD LeftRightLeftRightLeft that was supposed to be given away last night at Cruzan Amphitheatre in W. Palm Beach. I asked several Cruzan personnel in several different areas and they all responded that they had no information about a “supposed free CD from Coldplay” at that show. I asked some jocks at a radio station booth and they said the CDs would be given away as everyone exits. We were funneled out of the venue, past dozens of Cruzan staffers and none were giving away the CD. No one leaving had a CD.

We were promised this by Chris Martin and now it seems to be an empty promise. How can it be that the personnel in charge knew nothing of this giveaway? They were dismissive of my request for information. I even went back over to Cruzan this morning to speak with someone in authority and got nowhere. The woman at the ticket office was rolling her eyes over my request for information or help. She said they were not responsible and did not know anything about it and to call the front desk on Monday. I am being swept aside.

I want to know if Coldplay members have any idea of the thousands of fans that are now left with bitter feelings regarding the CDs. I will call Cruzan’s front office on Monday but a fat lot of good that will do me, and I know it. Why did this happen? I feel robbed now. If I find those employees horded the CDs that were supposed to be for ticket-buying fans and are selling them on eBay, I will be calling all the major newspapers and TV stations in the area. I want the CDs (one for my daughter and one for me). [name supplied]

Following on from Cobalt's excellent Prospekt entry sweepstakes back in March 2008 onwards, the time has come to begin the new phase - Roadie #42 LP5 blog sweepstakes (bookmark the thread - new polls will start after every blog!) - which will lead all the way up to the release of said (as yet untitled) album.

It has become a Coldplaying tradition that every couple of months the World Of Music forum holds a mixtape exchange. Over previous years it has been run by Coldplayers 'Eglantine', 'Redgirl76' and 'The Escapist'. To start off the summer, 'Kite' has once again stepped up to the role of hosting the next, the 6th, mixtape exchange.

The idea is that you get together a mix of songs that people may not have heard, that you enjoy, and sound well together (or that were just pulled out of a hat - though this option is not particularly advised!). It is really up to your musical interpretation. Basically, if you love to listen to new music and discovering new artists and genres, this is for you. AND, you can influence others' music with your style too...

Here are the deadlines: Sign up here before 5.00pm on Saturday, 3rd July (GMT+1) and please submit your mixtapes by 7.00pm on Saturday, 10th July. Tapes will be sent out around the 11th July.

Here are the rules (as read by Kite) that have been copied from the efforts of RedGirl and The Escapist in previous Mixtape Exchanges and are still valid...

1. Sign up saying you want to participate - leave your name on the thread or PM me direct

2. When the deadline for signing up is over, you'll get a PM from me giving you the name of another participant in the Exchange. You will be making a mix for this person, whoever they may be

3. You mustn't reveal who you are making the mix for

4. Make your mix-tape (average length is around 50-70 minutes) and delete the info for each song.

5. Upload the mix-tape to something like rapidshare and send me the link and a tracklisting. I will then send it to person assigned to you, keeping your identity a secret of course!

6. When you receive a mix-tape, listen to it, write a review and post it in this thread.

7. The person who made the mix-tape will then post the track-list and the link so everybody can download it. Simple as that.

Coldplay.com have today reported that Guy Berryman wants YOU to find old photographs for an art project. The article doesn't specifically say it is linked to the forthcoming fifth album, but stranger things have happened. If you think you will be participating the let us know at the Coldplay forum. Good afternoon. We have a mission for you - or rather, Guy does. Here's the info from the man himself: "Hello. I'm looking for your help to find old photographs, for a personal art project. They can be good photos, or completely out of focus. They can be black and white or colour. The point is that they are pictures dating back to the 1960s and before, that have been thrown away and found again - rather than your own old family photographs. Thanks for your help. I'm really excited about this!"

At the beginning of May, we'll be giving you the details of a PO Box address to send photos to - which gives you a few weeks to start rooting around your local charity/thrift stores and antique/secondhand shops. Unfortunately, we won't be able to return the photographs - but, as Guy says, he's looking for found/discarded photographs, rather than your own personal ones. Happy old photo hunting! Anchorman.

As you will know by now, as a 'thank you' to the fans, Coldplay have been handing out LeftRightLeftRightLeft, a free nine-track CD to everyone who attended one of the band's concerts this summer. If you did not go to a Coldplay show in 2009 where CDs were being handed out or simply couldn't find the supplies and therefore not able to receive your very own physical copy of LeftRightLeftRightLeft, worry not!

We have a CD mailing exchange programme where you can sign up to receive a free CD from another member who will have spare copies from the shows they attend - go there for full details. If you have been to a Coldplay show in 2009 and have spare CDs that you are able to share with your fellow Coldplayers, please let us know in that thread also. [thanks Cobalt]

So far, the CDs have been handed out at over 60 shows. The album, which mostly features cuts from Viva La Vida, contains 9 live tracks in all that had been recorded during different stops on the band's worldwide tours of the last few years. In the hope of collecting useful feedback from Coldplayers on the CD giveaway at all the shows as they progress through the 2009 tour, please leave your comments at the Coldplay Live forum on how you got a CD, how many you were given (how many you could have got), and whether you got one at all. It would be useful to mention which show you attended as well.

Coldplaying has been receiving more messages from concertgoers regarding receiving a CD after the show, and there have been a lot of happy punters out there, but it seems that there were still some problems at the most recent shows, in Glasgow, Manchester and London. Here are some of the latest comments...

I thought the 'handing out' was not very well organized in the UK/Ireland as you literally had to go SEARCHING for the people with the CDs while in the Netherlands/Germany you just couldn't miss being given a CD. Didn't see anyone at Wembley on the 19th, handing out the CDs but I wasn't that desperate as I got my copy the night before ... [thanks LittleMissMessy]

Everything was arranged perfectly at Wembley, except for the handing out of the LRLRL cd's (although on the 18th it was quite easy to get one, didn't even have to wait, they were just standing outside) it seems. [thanks Stefan-C8]

I only got one on the second (Wembley) show, and I had to go around and search for it for quite a while until I found one. Didn't see anyone with a CD the first night, which was a bit weird, and obviously not any people handing it out either... It was very badly arranged indeed, it was very easy to get hold of one after the Stockholm show for example. On the other hand, that arena is a lot smaller, so that was probably why. Wembley the 2nd night there was even a guy given them out in a kebab shop in wembley! some girl just grabbed about 20 off him! it was a nightmare at glasgow to find the cd people,they were handing them out from a small table a good bit away from the stadium and i had to go searchin,they were givin them out in bundles like they were just tryin to get rid of them so they could pack up n go,thats how i got 3,dont think Coldplay would've been happy bout the crap organization cos after all it was their gift to us fans. They were SO many LRLRL cds at Wembley that they probably had to throw away full boxes ! I have like 6 albums since when I was walking in front of the stadium many guys who were holding them kept giving me some It was so sad, there were many albums on the floor the first day, totally smashed and everything... Manchester distribution was a joke (didn't see ANY) and Wembley Saturday was a joke (didn't see ANY). That's four CDs my group were promised that we never even had the chance to get, and some of us have only subsequently been able to get copies from the kindness of people here. An absolute farce of organisation, and it was clear right from the start of this leg that giving them out at the end wasn't working....why not give each person one CD as they entered??? At my gate I spoke to an "information" person who said I should go to gate M, where I went - there were none. I spoke to another info person who said I should go to gate J - there were none. I went to both nights of the Wembley Stadium tour and I found it Extremley easy to find and obtain my cd!! there was a huge push on the friday night and I still managed to get all 5 cd's for the people in our party. Saturday night was less busy as if people didn't even want a cd! both nights I wasn't the first out the Stadium and stayed for the full show! and still got my copys. I also had a tube to catch. I am gald Coldplay went through the trouble and am extremley grateful, what a gift! Both shows were amazing and I will remember the memories forever. I was amazed at how well organised everything was! first in last out allday queing all of this will add to the memories! The Olimpic way was well manned at the end of both nights and i got my cd the tube a maccies and was back at the hotel for 12!!! Brilliant!! I asked several Cruzan personnel in several different areas and they all responded that they had no information about a “supposed free CD from Coldplay” at that show. I asked some jocks at a radio station booth and they said the CDs would be given away as everyone exits. We were funneled out of the venue, past dozens of Cruzan staffers and none were giving away the CD. No one leaving had a CD.

We were promised this by Chris Martin and now it seems to be an empty promise. How can it be that the personnel in charge knew nothing of this giveaway? They were dismissive of my request for information. I even went back over to Cruzan this morning to speak with someone in authority and got nowhere. The woman at the ticket office was rolling her eyes over my request for information or help. She said they were not responsible and did not know anything about it and to call the front desk on Monday. I am being swept aside.

I want to know if Coldplay members have any idea of the thousands of fans that are now left with bitter feelings regarding the CDs. I will call Cruzan’s front office on Monday but a fat lot of good that will do me, and I know it. Why did this happen? I feel robbed now. If I find those employees horded the CDs that were supposed to be for ticket-buying fans and are selling them on eBay, I will be calling all the major newspapers and TV stations in the area. I want the CDs (one for my daughter and one for me). [name supplied]

Some greedy bastard obtained TEN copies of LRLRL and is selling them [edit: already sold for $100 not including P&P!] as a bundle on eBay. It was supposed to be 1 CD for 1 ticket, therefore some people missed out because of this guy! [thanks Benjamin]

2. Your list must be ranked. UNRANKED LISTS WILL BE IGNORED;

3. The album's original release date must be between January 1st 2000 and December 31 2009;

4. Live Albums, EP's, Rereleases and Compilations are NOT ALLOWED;

5. Movie Soundtracks are allowed, as long as the majority of the tracks were original at the time;

6. Any questionable albums will be debated by a committee consisting of winigwl;

7. You can vote for in rainbows;

8. Nickelback albums are allowed, but looked down upon;

9. Any questions should be asked and your lists accepted in this thread up until February 1st, 2010.

Another year has passed and Coldplayer 'Chris's Nuts' is asking you to submit your top 25-50 Coldplay songs in ranked order in the new 2010 Top 50 Coldplay Song List mega poll which marks the end of the Viva La Vida era and of course the end of the noughties decade.

Your lists are being submitted until January 31st, 2010 in the Coldplay forum here - please also make sure that you are aware of the rules before posting your lists.

In 2006 The Scientist [pictured, top left] was voted Coldplay fans' favourite Coldplay song, and it wasn't knocked off number 1 spot until mid-2008 when the newly released Viva La Vida was voted the fans' favourite Coldplay song, after reaching top spot in the singles charts in the UK and US simultaneously. The question is, come the beginning of 2010 will it stay as fans' favourite?

The results of what was polled in mid 2008 are here - this was of course before the Prospekt's March EP and people have also had enough time to change their opinions on their prior songs, perhaps even drastically. If you did this back in 2008 then you might want to start with your old list from the original thread and make changes.

Here are the rules (same as previous polls):

1. Collaborations are ok, as long as the entire band was in on it (aka no Homecoming, All things come to, etc...)

2. Covers are allowed

3. Different versions of songs do not count (No Lost? Lost+ or Don't Panic Blue room edition etc...) This does mean that you count Life in Technicolor (both version 1+2) as one song. I know that might bug some but that's so people don't split votes between the 2 versions and both place poorly. If you like one over the other rank THAT version accordingly in your list. So if you put version 1 or 2 I'm throwing out the # indicator....

4. Remixes do not count.

5. The songs must be ranked in order. No exceptions.

6. Unreleased songs (but performed live) are ok.

7. You can do a minimum of 25 songs and a maximum of 50 songs in your list. So 25-50 songs on lists are ok.

8. If you want to edit your list later that's fine. Just do not reply post your edits into a new post. Use your original post.

The world’s attention is focused on Haiti following the devastating earthquake. World leaders are pledging to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Haitian people and help them to build a brighter future out of the rubble.

However, the debts that Haiti owes will hamper efforts to rebuild the country and lock them in poverty for years to come. Haiti currently owes over $891 million in debt. If these debts aren't cancelled, Haiti will be sending tens of millions to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other international bodies even as it struggles to rescue and rebuild.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and yet the IMF's response to the earthquake was to offer a $100 million loan. This loan would increase Haiti’s debt burden at this time of crisis. Please e-mail the head of the IMF Dominique Strauss-Kahn to demand that when leaders meet on Monday, they cancel Haiti’s debts immediately. The IMF has said that it will work to cancel the debt, and this now needs to happen.

An album of Friday's telethon performances is available on iTunes, allowing people to keep giving to the cause. You can also simply donate to Hope for Haiti Now by visiting the Hope For Haiti Now website. The two-hour telethon is believed to have raised around $57 million, according to organizers, with money still coming in. The event certainly echoes the scope of efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and 1985's Live Aid telethon, which raised millions for Africa. It is estimated that the earthquake, which hit Haiti on Jan. 12, took the lives of as many as 200,000 people and left countless others homeless and separated from their loved ones.

Coldplay play at the London studios of the 'Help For Haiti Now' telethon (22nd January 2010):

It has become a Coldplaying tradition that every couple of months the World Of Music forum holds a mixtape exchange. Over previous years it has been run by Coldplayers 'Eglantine', 'Redgirl76' and 'Kite'. To start off the new year and the new decade, 'The Escapist' has stepped up to the role of hosting the next, the 5th, mixtape exchange.

The idea is that you get together a mix of songs that people may not have heard, that you enjoy, and sound well together (or that were just pulled out of a hat - though this option is not particularly advised!). It is really up to your musical interpretation. Basically, if you love to listen to new music and discovering new artists and genres, this is for you. AND, you can influence others' music with your style too...

Here are the deadlines: Sign up here before 7.00pm on Saturday, 23rd January (GMT) and please submit your mixtapes by 7.00pm on Saturday, 30th January. Tapes will be sent out on the 1st Feburary.

Here are the rules (as read by The Escapist) that have been copied from the efforts or RedGirl and Kite in previous Mixtape Exchanges and are still valid...

1. Sign up saying you want to participate - leave your name on the thread or PM me direct

2. When the deadline for signing up is over, you'll get a PM from me giving you the name of another participant in the Exchange. You will be making a mix for this person, whoever they may be

3. You mustn't reveal who you are making the mix for

4. Make your mix-tape (average length is around 50-70 minutes) and delete the info for each song.

5. Upload the mix-tape to something like rapidshare and send me the link and a tracklisting. I will then send it to person assigned to you, keeping your identity a secret of course!

6. When you receive a mix-tape, listen to it, write a review and post it in this thread.

7. The person who made the mix-tape will then post the track-list and the link so everybody can download it. Simple as that.

8. At the end, I will link all the tapes, tracklistings and reviews to the first page so everyone can download them.

Ryan was a healthy, happy three-year old until the last week of her life. After spending the weekend laughing and playing, Ryan spent much of Monday exhibiting signs of exhaustion. On Tuesday exhaustion was joined by fever and nausea, and on Wednesday June 27, 2007 she was seen by her pediatrician and immediately sent to the closest hospital.

Within a few hours, she was airlifted to Georgetown University Hospital suffering from Acute Liver Failure. The following day she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her liver never recovered causing severe brain trauma. Just five days in the hospital, Ryan passed away in her Mommy’s arms while Daddy held her hand. Nearly three years on, here is the story of Ryan's Mini Adventure...

Ryan was a big fan of Coldplay. At two, she could point out each band member and tell you their name and instrument. We spent hours and hours together listening to their music and watching concert videos... she was my true Coldplay buddy. I had planned to take her to a show on the next tour which would have been Viva La Vida but it wasn't to be...

Ryan was just three when she passed away suddenly two years ago. In an effort to keep our daughters memory alive, we started a project called, Ryan's MINI Adventure. We invite people to take her favorite toy, her Red Matchbox MINI Cooper on journeys near and far to visit, meet, and experience all the wonders that this earth and beyond has to offer. Each journey is captured in a photo. In fact, her little red MINI just returned from trips to Antarctica, Stonehenge and the International Space Station, but there are many places yet to visit.
