Coldplay have today released a powerful video for “Trouble In Town,” taken from their acclaimed number one album, Everyday Life. Inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm, the video is set in a dystopian world populated by animals, including politician pigs, street-hustling foxes and an officious snow leopard cop.

The video was directed by Aoife McCardle. You can watch it at 

All proceeds from the song and the video will be split between two organisations: the Innocence Project, which works to overturn wrongful convictions in the US, and ACFS, a charity for vulnerable children in South Africa, some of whom provided vocals for the original track.

To celebrate the release of their acclaimed new album, Everyday Life, Coldplay have announced a special, intimate show at the Hollywood Palladium on Monday, January 20.

The MLK Day concert will support Reform LA Jails, which campaigns for prison reform and advocates alternatives to incarceration.

The event will also feature performances by Compton hip hop artist Boogie and upcoming rapper Bobby Gonz. The guest speakers will be Patrisse Cullors, founder of Reform LA Jails and co-founder of Black Lives Matter Global Network, and actress America Ferrera, co-founder of Harness, which activates artists and activists to advance social justice.

To ensure tickets get into the hands of fans, not scalpers or bots, the band have partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan® platform. Fans can register for the onsale now through Wednesday, January 15 at 10pm PT by signing up HERE. Registered fans who receive an invitation code will have access to purchase tickets on Friday, January 17 at 10am PT.

The show is in addition to the previously-announced, sold out #CitiSoundVault show at The Hollywood Palladium on January 21, in support of A New Way of Life, which provides housing and support to women rebuilding their lives after prison. The guest speakers that night will be A New Way Of Life founder Susan Burton, and the actress and activist Natalie Portman.

On Wednesday (Jan 15), Coldplay will give an exclusive acoustic performance for SiriusXM & Pandora at SiriusXM Hollywood. That afternoon, the band will also be guests on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Then, on Friday (Jan 17), KROQ will host the band for an intimate show to celebrate the grand reopening of their HD Radio Soundspace. The following day (Jan 18), Coldplay will perform at iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO at the LA Forum.

Everyday Life is Coldplay’s eighth studio album, described by Rolling Stone as “Coldplay’s rangiest and deepest release by orders of magnitude, maybe even their best,” with Stereogum calling it “a truly great album”.

The album’s lead single, Orphans, topped both Billboard’s Rock Airplay and Adult Alternative Songs charts, equalling the record for most Number Ones on the latter chart (with 13 across the band’s career).

The video was directed by Karena Evans, the 23-year-old Toronto native responsible for many of Drake’s recent videos (such as “God’s Plan” and "In My Feelings”).

The song is the closing track of Coldplay’s acclaimed new album, Everyday Life.

In other news, the band revealed that they are to partner with YouTube Originals for the launch of Everyday Life, with two exclusive performances streaming live from Jordan on November 22, the day of the album’s release.

Coldplay: Everyday Life – Live in Jordan will take place in Amman, Jordan and mirror the two halves of the 52-minute double album: Sunrise and Sunset. The Sunrise concert will begin at 4 am GMT, with the Sunset concert following at 2 pm GMT. These will mark the band’s first-ever performances in Jordan.

The band said: “These two broadcasts have been our dream since we first started work on this album. It’s a bit impossible and a bit scary, like all the best dreams. YouTube is the perfect home for it.”

Coldplay have released the music video for 'Orphans', the first single from their eighth album 'Everyday Life'.

The joyous track debuted yesterday on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show to a flurry of excited fans.

Fans were treated with a Q&A from drummer Will Champion in YouTube chat before the video premiered. He spoke about the recording process, filming the music video and the future!

One viewer asked what it was like to shoot the new music video: "The shoot was great fun. Having dancers always brings amazing energy to a video shoot".

Champion spoke about the "rolling rig" featured in the music video: "I have to admit to feeling a little bit wobbly for a few hours after being in the rotating room ('rolling rig'). It was quite disorientating".

Will also confirmed a filming location of the video: "Bits of this video were filmed on El Matador Beach in Malibu".

Another fan asked if Will had any main vocal features on the new album: "no, just backing vocals on Champion Of The World. It is a great title, though!"

When asked about the recording process, Will replied with: "The creative process involved six short but very intense sessions over the last year or so. It was incredibly exciting!"

Will also expressed his love for director Mat Whitecross: "It's always a pleasure to work with Mat, who directed the video".

Surprising to all of us, Will said "Yes, we still have a couple more surprises up our sleeves". TELL US WHAT SURPRISES WILL!?!?

The famous drummer also joked about his WiFi: "I'm watching at home, on terrible WiFi!"

Two songs from the album, Orphans and Arabesque, are available to download / stream now alongside lyric videos. A 7-inch vinyl single featuring both songs is also available now via Third Man Records.

Both tracks were produced by The Dream Team. Arabesque features vocals from Stromae and horns by Femi Kuti and his band.

The album's cover image is based around a 1919 photo of guitarist Jonny Buckland’s great-grandfather’s band. The artwork was teased last week in mysterious posters and billboards all around the world, from São Paulo to Tokyo.

The first details of Everyday Life were revealed earlier this week when the band mailed typed, hand-signed notes to 500 Coldplay fans around the world. 

On November 2nd Coldplay will perform for the sixth time as musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live. 

Coldplay have just premiered two new songs, 'Orphans' and 'Arabesque' on BBC Radio 1!

The tracks are taken off of Coldplay's upcoming album 'Everyday Life', set for release on November 22 via Parlophone/Atlantic. The album will be split into two parts, called 'Sunrise' and 'Sunset', with 8 tracks on each side. 

The world-exclusive premiere marks the first Coldplay tracks in over two years! Annie Mac played both songs, entitled 'Orphans' and 'Arabesque', on her coveted 7 pm BBC Radio 1 slot.

Frontman Chris Martin told Annie Mac: “It’s all about just being human, Every day is great and every day is terrible…It just feels kind of free. There’s so much life bursting out on the planet.”

Speaking to Annie Mac, Chris explained the inspiration for the album: “[The album] is our reaction to the perceived negativity that’s everywhere. And there is a lot of trouble, but there’s also so much positivity and so much great life happening. So in a way, it’s just trying to make sense of things, saying what we feel and what we see.”

Martin went on to explain how the modern socio-political landscape and world events had also inspired his new lyrics. “The truth is there was something about our last tour that made me at peace with speaking openly and not minding if people disagree, this has been the first time we’ve felt like ‘We’ve got to this place as a band so there’s really nothing to think about career-wise.’ You can just speak completely freely and let all the colours of life come through."

He continued: “Some of it’s very personal, about real things in my life, and some of it’s about things that I see or we see, and some of it’s about trying to empathise about what other people are going through.

Martin added: “It seems to me that one of the things that might help people have a better time is to put themselves in other people’s shoes, whether that’s these kids who have to leave Syria, or who grew up in Baltimore, or whatever it might be. Rather than judging from afar, maybe to think ‘I wonder what it’s like to be there.’”

OH MY GOD Arabesque. I can also see the similarity with some of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds work in the beginning. Brass. That verse in French. Totally different from what they have done in the past. I may have been harsh with Coldplay recent work sometimes regarding their (imo) lack of inspiration, I can only be satisfied. Orphans is quite short but catchy as hell. Even Chris' voice (which I was a bit tired of in the last era) does not bother me at all. -VCF

Orphans: A near perfect indie-pop single. Guy's bass is incredible, Jonny contributes nice guitar licks, the chorus vocals are back, production is RICH -- lots of fun details sprinkled through the mix (a flute?). Love lyrics too! My only criticism is that it feels like they didn't have a strong bridge to the chorus, so the song is shorter than it needs to be and the chorus comes on kind of awkwardly (like no drum fill or guitar to fill the space between the bride and chorus? And Jonny's guitar could be louder).

Arabesque: Wow this is truly new for Coldplay and quite incredible. Reminds me a bit of something that could have been on Arcade Fire's Reflektor. Incredible groove, tons of horns, saxophones, weird sax solo that isn't very good but has character, someone sings a verse in french? Jonny? What I love the most about this is how LITTLE Chris is in it. -lennyrott1

I genuinely haven't been this excited for a Coldplay album since Viva. They really have reinvented themselves. My sort of review of how the songs sound : 'Orphans' is definitely the more 'pop' of the two - reminds me of so many things, it has the funky bass of AOAL but is almost stadium rock sounding. Some fo it reminds me slightly of U2 with the chorus reminding me a bit of Foals.

Coldplay have completely done it in their own way though - very catchy song, once of the best Coldplay songs I've heard in years actually.

'Arabesque' is definitely the 'experimental' track - clocking at about 5 and a half minutes, the only thing I can compare this to is 'Tusk' by Fleetwood Mac, has a bit of a re-accuring brass section then jazz trumpet in the middle of the track with a ball-sy ending that king of reminds me of DLIBYH (but Arabaesque' is a lot slower, more of a groove.

Orphans was the one I thought was like LU from the snippet, but it is more like MX/AHFOD with better production than either of these albums.

Yesterday, Jo Whiley commented on the album: "I think it's brilliant, it's brave, it doesn't fit in with anything else that's out there at the moment. There's some classic Coldplay stuff and then there's also very much non-classic Coldplay stuff." Whiley also shared her favourite tracks, namely 'When I Need A Friend', "It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, makes me cry every time".

Coldplay have just updated their website to include a countdown clock for their new single!

Fans have been receiving letters from Coldplay since Monday announcing their new double album entitled "Everyday Life".

Today, the band have updated their website from the simple 'sun and moon' graphic to a photo of the letter and an interesting countdown clock. The clock counts down to 7:30 pm on Thursday in which we can expect a new single!

Fans were quick to point out that this time coincides with Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show in which she premieres music with the artist present.

Also, a rumoured tracklist and album art have been leaked on Amazon today showing the titles of each song from both discs of the album.

Several Coldplay fans have received a golden letter in the mail today confirming not only a new album but a double album!

Coldplay fan @lena_tayara on Twitter received a letter from Coldplay this morning and posted it online asking if it was fake. Fans were quick to point out that the golden signatures on the letter looked authentic and the text style mimicked that of the band.

The letter contains several typos as it was written on a typewriter. Interestingly, 1919 was 'the year of the portable typewriter'! The letter also contains the sun and moon symbols that we have seen recently.

The letter explains that the band have been working on a 'thing called Everyday Life' for the last 100 years. It confirms that it will be a double album with one half called 'sunrise' and the other 'sunset'.

The golden letter also confirms the November 22 release date and is about 'how we feel about things'. The letter is signed by each member of the bands first name except drummer Will whos second name is included and capitalised with 'esq.' written under it meaning esquire. 

Along with the signatures of each band member is an Arabic phrase that has also been seen on the black and white posters seen around the globe. The phrase reads 'سلام و حب' meaning 'Peace and Love' in English.

Coldplaying are predicting a new single this Friday with more teasers expected before then.

Coldplay have teased new music with a short 15-second video clip on social media this morning.

Coldplay are back! After nearly four long years since we first heard the teasers for A Head Full of Dreams, the band have returned to treat us once again!

Over the past month, fans have been speculating when Coldplay would return to the music scene. An insider at the Daily Star led fans to believe that Coldplay would release new music in November and a second album in 2020. New music was all but confirmed as Coldplay updated their social media to match the new era.

Posters began to appear around the world showing the band in a vintage setting and the date 'November 22, 1919' written above. This led fans to believe that the band's new 'experimental' album would take on a genre of Jazz!

However, following this mornings teaser clip, the euphoric orchestral sound slightly contradicts this belief. Radio DJ's and critics have been getting early access to the new single with one DJ from Mix100 Denver saying "I was able to hear some new Coldplay stuff that hasn't been released yet. It was good, and what impresses me about that band is that they are always able to reinvent themselves.".

Coldplay have changed their profile picture and updated their website to feature the new sun and moon logo.

The keen-eyed 'Coldplay Investigators' on the Coldplaying forum have found that Coldplay have updated their profile pictures to feature the sun and moon symbols that appeared on several youtube thumbnails yesterday. 

Fans are currently trying to decipher the meaning of the image. Along with this image, posters are showing up all over the world showing Coldplay in a vintage setting with a number of unknown musicians by their sides.

A poster of Coldplay has shown up in São Paulo showing the band with the date November 22, 1919!

Fans have been speculating all morning after a mysterious poster showed up in São Paulo showing Coldplay in a vintage setting with German philosopher, poet, composer and scholar Friedrich Nietzsche.

The poster appeared at the Paulista metro station in São Paulo and was subsequently removed. According to staff, the poster was not supposed to be put up until Thursday 17th October. Perhaps this means we will see a single this Friday! Ken19, a legit festival insider on efestivals.co.uk suggests that Friday will see new Coldplay news.

Several leaks from discord user 'Kirboh' have suggested that the album will be called 'Fool's Gold', perhaps after the 1919 film of the same name. 

Kirboh also suggests that 'One Way Train', the supposed lead single of the album will be released Friday with a live performance at TIDAL X Rock The Vote. According to the leaker, the album has a style similar to X&Y and A Head Full of Dreams with 'One Way Train' having a similar tempo to Hurts Like Heaven.

Kirboh is also reporting that 'The Race', a track found by Coldplaying last year, has evolved and is in LP8. It apparently features French electronic music duo Daft Punk!

Coldplay have appeared to register two new songs on APRA for possible future release on their upcoming album!

User @driftaguy on Coldplaying has uncovered two song titles registered on APRA (Australasian Performing Rights Association) . 'Sine Spe Recuperandi', a nautical term meaning 'no hope of recovery' in Latin, was registered under Jonny and Will's names with engineer Daniel Green listed as a composer

The second song, 'That Sister is My Brother' was registered with each member of the band listed as composers.

It is important to note that these will most likely not be the final titles. Fans were quick to point out that Coldplay often registers their songs under fake names to keep the element of surprise.

Coldplay are rumoured to release their much anticipated eighth album this November according to The Daily Star.

It's been four years since Coldplay released their seventh LP 'A Head Full of Dreams' and the band have been quiet ever since the conclusion of their world tour in late-2017.

James Cabooter of the Daily Star states that the band are said to be repeating the success of their Ghost Stories/A Head Full of Dreams releases by dropping an arty LP first ahead of a more mainstream pop album the following year. 

Cabooter's source said, "The first album is the more experimental side of Coldplay, they probably won’t tour until 2020 when the next one arrives."

Following the release of his Coldplay biopic, we interviewed director Mat Whitecross last November on the future of the band: "I think whatever they do next is going to be different and surprising... They’re definitely hatching something."

Whitecross also stated that the hiatus will last a year, confirming rumours that November is a possible release date for a new album. "Chris is certainly in the studio every single day, he’s writing new songs all the time." states Whitecross.

Chris Martin has appeared numerous times over the past year, most notably under the pseudonym 'Los Unidades' and with Global Citizen.

A close source to Coldplaying has confirmed that the band have 100% been recording new material for upcoming releases since at least May of this year. Our source points to a session in London back in May and recording sessions were confirmed by French media in July.
