Has the novelty worn off or has the message sunk in and your love of the video is stronger than ever? Here are some of the latest reactions, this time from Coldplays fans and general spectators on Youtube!

Chase Eagleson, with some inspiring words.

I honestly scoffed at the suits Chris and the woman were wearing at the start, but then I began to realize what it stood for. The fact that this band has no fear in putting such a video out there, the ability to make a beautiful story with people in comical inflatable suits is absolutely impeccable. I thought the video was perfect. It reminded me a lot of the movie "Radio" for some reason. Anyways, as a fellow musician, I give this 5 stars. Keep it up boys, I'm forever a fan.

Christopher Nesi, ponders the meaning but doesn't rate the video.

My take is that it's about people being "stuck" at some point in their lives, and that you never know when your chance is going to come. You see it literally here, but yeah the music video is pretty weak. It doesn't have anything to do with obese people though (in my opinion)..

Yuri Li, had an awe inspiring moment!

This is why Coldplay is and always has been my favorite band. They write their own lyrics, every album has a creative and unique album artwork, and have the most beautiful music videos like this :) Coldplay, you rock. <3

According to Chris Martin, the 'original' video, which was made before the one we all know, on the streets of Sydney, was "messed up" and they "didn't get it right".
Chris Martin performed for satellite radio station Sirius XM on August 10th and delighted us all with a mixture of old Coldplay classics and new 'Ghost Stories'.

For the first time, a video clip of Chris playing the closing track from the standard edition of 'Ghost Stories' has been released. The emotional expressions from the frontman are a joy to watch and for 'O', this may be the finest version of the song so far. Another memorable live version of 'O' was on the 'Ghost Stories' film but the track wasn't played live for the majority of Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' mini tour.

Coldplay have also released another video, this time of Coldplay's 2nd hit single on 'Ghost Stories', 'A Sky Full Of Stars' in a much more simple, striped back fashion! It was Chris Martin's first time playing the piano version of the EDM inspired track. Take a look....

Chris Martin also answered questions posed to him by the DJ's and the few lucky Coldplay fans present at the Sirius XM studios. In the below video, Chris talks about his advice from 'The Boss' himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Coldplay's 'True Love' video - Coldplayer Reactions.
The official video for Coldplay's 3rd single from 'Ghost Stories' was unveiled a few days ago. The wacky video, featuring Chris Martin in a sumo suit, with his dream of becoming a dancer at the big ballet received a generally positive response. Praise was given for the fun and humourous nature and the moral of the story, while there was criticism given for the visuals not matching to the feel of the song itself. Let's start off with the stat attack of the poll results so far! When compared to the previous two music videos you voted on (there wasn't a poll for 'Midnight'), 'Magic' and 'A Sky Full of Stars', Coldplay's latest visual effort scored pretty much the same as the 'Magic' video with 82 of the 144 votes 8/10 or above for 'True Love' and 184 of the 322 votes 8/10 or above for 'Magic'. 'Magic' received more 0 votes, while True Love's score on the lower end of the scale was spread out across 1,2,3 etc.. 'A Sky Full of Stars' appears to be the most popular music video for the Ghost Stories era with a massive 80/110 votes 8/10 or above. The new Coldplay single's video prompted a mixed response with 29/77 8+ rating votes on the forums, with a real mixture of votes below. Here are some thought's from Coldplayers on the messageboards and on the social channels...Grids wrote...

I do understand everybody has got different thoughts and opinions, but personally I'm okay with the video. I dont see anything bad or good with it. It's just okay and I think I get the message from what Chris wants to deliver, he expresses his feelings in a comedic way and more entertaining I guess. Strawberry Swing video entertains me, I love it. True Love...hmm, the very first time when I listened to this song I'd say it was my least favorite. But after listening to it for hundreds of times, I realized that Chris has gotten really deep feelings of himself brokenhearted, so behind the scene of this True Love song is really meant to be about someone is heartbroken because his "True Love" has gone away and probably would not come back, which is very sad. I think I'd appreciate Chris at this time regarding what he wants to express in GS album especially this song.

By Safy :

Now that I have overcome my initial shock. Here are some thoughts about the video:- It has nothing to do with the song, but maybe this was intentional. When I first read the song lyrics, I had tears in my eyes thinking they were such painful & heartbreaking lyrics :teardrop: This video gives the opposite feeling of the song. Perhaps because Chris has already left that dark place & moved to a brighter one. He would want to associate the song with something colorful & funny instead of some painful memories.- A video for his kids to enjoy as some of you have mentioned. It could be a possibility because he doesn't want them to feel bad because of their parents breaking up so he makes it up for them by making them feel special & cared after, featuring them on the record, filming a music video to their taste.- If the previous point is correct, then we will be stuck to such kind of childish videos till his kids grow older (late teens), provided that he doesn't have any more kids & we get to listen to nursery songs - The video is reminiscent of the Magic video. Same idea, same ending & even same Chris' character; a neglected talented janitor/ a neglected talented magician assistant. Add to this a beautiful actress ( Jessica Lucas is so pretty)who falls in love with him & a happy ending & you get 2 copies of the same video. Even one picture from Magic was used on True love! - The janitor's name is Hugo, the (anything is possible) message. The prism with the 7 rays of light..All could be hints for the new era. This makes me excited, though I can't decipher the codes for this. Remember the ghost doodle at the Atlas lyrics. There might be hidden hints also that we didn't pay notice to.

From Greengoose :

Video was sweet IMHO...just trying to tell you if you love something so much, irregardless if others say no...just follow your heart and your dreams. I had a feeling with the theme of things of late, it was going to be summat along these lines. BUT....I cant be the only one thinking that was the first time in like 10 years Chris has ever seen a black bin bag or taken the rubbish out to the tip lolol

@coldplaying I love that they ended the era on a comical note. As expected, A Sky Full of Stars has been Coldplay's biggest hit from Ghost Stories so far on worldwide radio. Will True Love better the 2nd single within the world of the charts? Being a polar opposite to the popular EDM influenced track suggests it won't but the 'unconventional' single may surprise a few. We will see over the coming weeks and the upcoming acrobat inspired official video will have a large say!

Continuing with the BBC link, the British broadcasters have released a very interesting advert/commercial involving A Sky Full of Stars and Chris Evans (unconvincingly) humming the upbeat song to the puzzled expressions of his colleagues.

Coldplay's acrobat inspired video for True Love on the way!

Chris Martin let out a few secrets for the band's upcoming True Love music video last evening, during an interview for Fuse.TV. The official video for Coldplay's 3rd single will be ready either today or tomorrow. This should mean the upload we are all waiting for is imminent as Chris revealed the acrobat theme within the video.

Chris revealed the inspiration for part of the upcoming music video was from two Russian acrobats. While talking to Fuse.TV, Chris mentioned "I saw in the circus one time, these two Russian acrobats doing this thing and we called them up and said can you please teach us how to do that?! Its a bit silly!"

On the subject of Coldplay's 3rd single, True Love and following their gut feeling, Chris explained, "Sometimes we'll pick a single knowing that it doesn't really fit into how singles should sound or do sound. Our whole philosophy, especially recently, has been to follow our gut feeling. If we feel like this record needs to be a bit smaller and shouldn't tour it, then we follow it, and we worry about the consequences afterwards. I think choosing 'True Love' as a single is probably the same kind of thing. Somehow for me it completes the trio of things that we want to represent the album".

Our charming frontman also chats about the band's writing process for songs and how he doesn't feel the need to praise or defend Ghost Stories, just to accept it as something they had to do! Watch the short interview below, with thanks to Fuse.TV

7th Coldplay album will be the 'completion of a story' & more plans.

Before this week, we knew very little of Coldplay's next album other than the band were set to be working in the studio more after their round of intimate shows for their 6th album, Ghost Stories. The early pre New York solo show interviews didn't reveal much on the new material front, with the interviewers focus being on Chris' personal life, the New York show and his musical influences. This changed as the other day, it was revealed by Chris that Coldplay have been working on their next project and a new tour will follow. With the tour itself, Chris has mentioned "a couple of years" previously, so whether LP7 will still be further down the line or the 'tour to follow' could essentially mean after the promotion of a new album (which could take a while!), is yet to be determined. The new rounds of interviews today bring us new information on the bands next studio effort and their plans for more fan interaction during the next world tour.

Chris interview with SiriusXM

This excellent interview reveals new facts about the upcoming seventh Coldplay LP and the next world tour, directly from Chris Martin himself. It's a must to read and listen to! Here are the main highlights from the revealing interview :

- On the subject of no world tour for Ghost Stories : "I didn't feel like I could jump around the stadium and sing them so then some other songs started to come through towards the end of it which felt like they wanted to become a bit bigger so we gotta kind of record them, it just felt like the right thing to do, I can’t explain it”.

- Chris came up with a rhythm for a new song during a recent live show. It came to him when playing live and he had to go off stage for a quick interval and note it down.

- Chris is loving writing and recording at the moment. Lots of ideas are coming through. Most of the writing takes place in the middle of the night.

- The boys are always in the studio recording over time. Chris says "life is short and you gotta grab it while you can".

- Coldplay's 5th member, Phil Harvey sometimes goes out and plays new songs for people and reports back.

- The next album / LP7 will be the "competition of some kind of story", ‘like the final Harry Potter book’!

- The most alive feeling for Chris Martin apart from having children is to have fans sing-along at concerts. “Infact we are trying to do a thing on our next tour where by we are trying to think of ways of connecting people while they are coming to the concert because as we all show up to these places and hang out with thousands of other people with exactly the same taste but we all disperse and never talk again so I love it when everyone comes together as one thing as its so poetic and makes me have faith in humanity”.

Much lighthearted chat and the usual Chris humour we love takes place. Chris chat's about his email inbox rejecting song lyrics he emails to himself as spam! The apparent release of albums during the summer period is explained by Chris (with tounge in cheek) as avoiding the reviewers while they are on holiday. His advice from 'The Boss', Bruce Springsteen is another highlight as Chris tells of his love of music. The two part interview can be heard below.

VH1 top 20 video interview

This was an interview with a more casual flavour and being able to see Chris in the flesh, in addition to his rapping skills during a clip from 2003. Chris was blushing a little there!

Chris Martin nominated Paradise as his favourite Coldplay video, telling us what his Dad said to him, "You’ll have to ride a unicycle when the music goes wrong"!

One of the highlights was Chris picking Parachutes as his favourite Coldplay album cover. “The truth is, I love our first album cover best, Parachutes, which came out in 1956” Chris explained, "We went to a stationary store in England & we bought a globe. Backstage in a city called Leeds, Guy span the globe & Will shot it” and that's how the band ended up with their first album cover!

The meaning of A Sky Full of Stars & more Chris Martin chat!

Another day and another bunch of Chris Martin interviews to bring. Could get used to this! Today's radio escapade brought an interview with station 103.5 KTU H20 Wireless, Sirius XM hits 1 and 95.5 PLJ on the Todd Show.

Chris Martin's time at 103.5 KTU started with the question of which celeb would he like to meet. Having met many celebs, the only person he mentioned was basketball legend, LeBron James, that's if Chris didn't meet him already! Chris said he would like to take his son Moses to meet Basketball players Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. When asked about the meaning of A Sky Full of Stars, Chris explained "A Sky Full of Stars is about when you just say to someone, whatever you do is awesome and I love you no matter what, even if you hit me in the face or steal my sandwich, whatever you do”, adding its essentially about unconditional love.

The jokes continued and Chris' witty humour was in full flow. "You know the band Coldplay? I met them once, in MacDonalds, they were not nice, very aggressive" while laughing. The Coldplay frontman was asked about Speed of Sound being rumoured to be the least favourite song he likes to perform and Chris, reflecting thought it was "63% true" and added that certain songs remind you of a certain period of your life and it was a rocky period but was adamant he still liked the 1st single from X&Y.

There were a few clips from Chris Martin's interview with Sirius XM, who will be broadcasting his solo performance tomorrow (Here is all the info you need on the day).

We heard Chris chat to Sirius about Avicii. "To me he's just a guy called Tim, he's such a sweet young man". On the subject of the actual radio station he was being interviewed at, he confessed to being a fan of Sirius XM hits 1, perhaps surprisingly mentioning of his delight of hearing A Sky Full of Stars on the radio as Chris has always appeared uncomfortable on the subject of listening to his own song's but Chris seems more comfortable with the EDM effort. The delight came from driving his kids, Apple and Moses and when A Sky Full of Stars came on the radio, Chris was like "ok, my life is complete, and they were like Dad, Dad! It just made me so happy".

Chris described the joy of having emotion in EDM and he cleverly substituted the 'Electronic' with 'Emotional' yesterday during another interview. "Thank you so much" was his response to Sirius XM hits 1 playing the 2nd single from Ghost Stories.

(massive thanks to gai!)

The Todd show interviewed Chris Martin in front of some lucky winners of the meet and greet competition. The talk started with Chris telling the guys in the studio of how it gets easier to be in a band longer with each other and mentioned “when we met we were teenagers so at that time lots of people were in bands and it wasn't unusual but at this time, to be with the same group of friends is amazing”. When the band do get annoyed, Chris jokingly would say they will send him to New York to play solo! During the very friendly and down to earth interview, the British frontman tells about the time Chris and Will tried to play on the street and were moved on by police and talks about Weird Al Jankovic.

Negative personal comments used to affect Chris but it doesn't anymore. The turning point for him was during Coldplay gigs in front of 20,000-50,000 stoked fans and he wouldn't want something small like that to affect him. When Chris was asked about potential solo projects down the line, he replied "no no, god no" and ended with “being in the band is the best job ever, its so fun”, “we had a list of things we would like to do when we were 18 and slowly we get to tick it together, its amazing”.

Coldplay recording next 'project' with a new tour to follow
Chris Martin, after his wonderful solo performance at The Box in New York last night, brought the morning sunshine to the Elvis Duran show earlier today with a light hearted interview in which Chris tells us how his solo show makes him realise how much he loves the band. The Elvis Duran interview was capped off with a performance of A Sky Full of Stars and Viva La Vida. A visit to Fresh 102.7 NY was also on the cards, including a meet up with his fans who had won the radio station's competition to meet and greet Coldplay's frontman. The one on one interview gave us a snippet of information on Coldplay's next album (LP7) and tour!
Chris Martin on the Elvis Duran show
Elvis Duran, who presented Coldplay's album release party a few months ago, was re-united with Chris and the two, along with the presenting team in the studio had a great conversation with the Coldplay frontman and talked about his solo show, the first experiences in Coldplay, musical influences and getting older in life. Chris, dressed casually, rocking a pair of blue headphones from the studio, talked about the band's first experience in America when they were younger. The band would open up for bands such as Limp Bizkit and would have items thrown at them on the stage such keys and CD's! Chris, being his hilarious self, quoted "either someone really hated our music or were just giving us their car"! Continuing the light hearted chat, Chris reflected on the time he was a cleaner and a strawberry picker (Reminds us of certain song!!) and when asked what happened to the Strawberries he picked, Chris replied "they were taken by a higher employee" adding it was hush hush and wasn't sure if it was legal! The writing of songs was discussed and Chris explained about the title for A Sky Full of Stars and how he tried to write it until one day 'it said, i'm ready' and he just had to write it! On the subject of getting older, as Elvis pointed out his landmark 50th Birthday, Chris said in his view, the more you get older, the more every day is a blessing. He goes on to mention Leonard Cohen's (who's lyrics inspired Up With The Birds) poem, "the crack is where the light comes in", meaning you sometimes have to go through pain to see beauty in things. On releasing songs, when suggested that personal songs could be held back because of their nature, Chris disagreed with "the more personal, the more likely it is to be released" and he added "If I feel like, that maybe someone will [like the song] and that's ok". Elvis wandered whether the fast paced and furious nature of the music industry affected Chris, to which the British frontman responded, "It did a while ago the first time the tabloid stuff hits you. The business angle, not so much" followed by "today, I got to play a song in its most simplest form but its all just noise [the tabloids] and chatter".As the interview drew to a close, the colourful and vibrant Chris Martin explained about writing songs for Rihanna and how he has written a few songs for her lately and her up front opinion on saying yes, maybe or no to Chris' lyrics. Asked why he chose to perform on his own, Chris hilariously replied, "I had to do the show on my own as couldn’t find the rest of the band.... they had car keys thrown at them and they all drove off!" sending the studio into stitches before revealing the status of Guy, Jonny and Will, "they are all in Europe" and that not being with them reminds him of how much he loves them and then goes on about growing up together, awwww!!Part of the interview was filmed.
Intimate Chris Martin show at The Box, New York.
Chris Martin completed an absolutely wonderful solo show for just hundreds of lucky fans at The Box theatre in New York on Wednesday 6th August. The one off Chris Martin gig had been planned for weeks and the venue, time and further details had been kept under wraps until the last moment. The concert was filled with Chris' family and friends and with fans who were lucky enough to get tickets through the New York radio stations promoting the event. One of the highlights of the night for many fans was the return of Sparks! You can watch Sparks live below and Chris' opening banter with the crowd.

New Coldplay material as soon as November?!!
November 24th, according to @DomenicaMena on Twitter (thanks @ColdplayAtlas) is the date to which Coldplay are 'confirmed' to be promoting music, coinciding with the planned return of U2 and Adele. Mila Fürstová stated on Twitter that True Love is the final single from Ghost Stories. There are suggestions based on this of new Coldplay material on the way, with a surprise seventh album as a possibility! A stand-alone single or a release similar to Prospekt's March is more likely though. Either way, Coldplay are set to end the year with a bang! ^ Thanks to atlas2000 for the image
Ghost Stories promo schedule
Earlier this week, Coldplay revealed the Mila Fürstová inspired artwork for True Love. The date on the official Coldplay website is set at '18th August' for the third single off Ghost Stories. Whether this is the date for the official video or a single release itself is unknown but with the Chris Martin solo show later and Coldplay at the iHeart Radio music festival in September to look forward to, there are still many events to come in the Ghost Stories saga before this apparent promotion.

Post by Coldplaying.

The official video for True Love is directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the same director as the Magic video and it will be on our screens soon!
Meanwhile...in New York
Chris Martin, who has a planned solo show later tonight (exact details unknown), has been doing the rounds across New York radio stations, with the visit of satellite radio station, Sirius XM where Chris was singing Clocks earlier on.

Chris Martin's top acoustic performances

The great people at Fresh 102.7 FM have compiled a list of Chris Martin's top acoustic performances over the years. Enjoy fellow Coldplayers, the are many gems to delightfully watch!

Viva La Vida

Off of Coldplay’s fourth studio album “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends,” this song is arguably Coldplay’s most popular song. Released in 2008, it is still being played on the radio six years later. This specific acoustic performance is extremely special to the New York City area, as it is from 12-12-12: The Concert For Sandy Relief.

Yellow

With the combination of the talents of two members of great rock bands, you are bound to get a pretty good acoustic performance. Chris Martin was joined by Oasis’ Noel Gallagher to perform Coldplay’s successful hit “Yellow.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThOrgHYuVhE

Trouble

This one is a bit of a throwback, but it could not be ignored. Chris Martin performed an acoustic version of one of Coldplay’s earlier hits “Trouble.” This song comes off of their 2000 studio album “Parachute.”

Tut tut, "Parachutes"!

Fix You

Joined by band mate Jonny Buckland, Chris Martin sang an acoustic version of “Fix You” for charity. From their third studio album “X&Y,” “Fix You” is one of Coldplay’s most beautifully produced songs.

Paradise

The success of Coldplay’s music has not dwindled since the beginning of their career. “Paradise” is one of their newer hits, released in 2011. Chris Martin performs the song acoustically, and flawlessly, on the piano.

Chris also utilized the success of “Paradise” to experiment with featuring different genres. He has performed the song live with Rihanna and rapper Jay Z.

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

Again, band mate Jonny Buckland teamed up with Chris Martin for an acoustic performance of the hit song “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall.” The song is featured on Coldplay’s studio album “Mylo Xyloto,” and was chosen as the first single, leading to its success.

Wedding Bells

While Chris Martin mostly sings Coldplay’s best hits, in this acoustic performance he sang an unreleased song. “Wedding Bells” was meant to be on “Mylo Xyloto” alongside “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” and “Paradise,” but it unfortunately did not make the cut.

True Love - Coldplay's heartbreaking love story

The fourth track off Coldplay's emotional album, Ghost Stories, has a distinct sound and feel from the previous fun and upbeat track, Ink. The tone change is reminiscent of Fix You proceeding White Shadows. The ending of the latter with the haunting organ sound provides a great transition to the anthemic ballad, while in probably the most cohesive Coldplay album to date, the start of True Love is a more of quicker transcend into darker side of the Ghost Stories, one which dominates the core of the album. Lyrically, True Love is perhaps the most open song Chris Martin has ever written. You get the feeling that this is what Chris wanted to 'get off his chest' the most. The link to his personal life and the 'uncoupling' with Gwyneth Paltrow could be interpreted with the lyrics, "and I wish you could have let me know, what's really going on below, I've lost you now, you let me go" and the heartbreaking lyrics, "remember once upon a time, when I was yours and you were blind, a fire would sparkle in your eyes, and mine". Possibly looking back to the love which was once so bright, portrayed across during the first three tracks. True Love is Coldplay's heartbreaking love story, an emotionally powerful ballad which does not end on a high. It is heartbreaking part of this wonderful ghost story.

Guy Berryman formed the bass line of the second track, Magic, which was the backbone of the song, while Jonny Buckland's heartbreak guitar solo towards the end of True Love, really captured our hearts and the feel of the song. It feels like Jonny is reaching out to his best friend Chris and saying 'I feel for you Chris, its ok', for something so personal, to still have that 'Coldplay soul' to it is tremendous. Of course, a song like True Love, which is emotionally very deep, the meaning can be looked at in a variety of ways and Chris prefers to leave the lyrics to our imaginations!

From mysterious beginnings to the 3rd single

True Love was one of the low key tracks off Ghost Stories. There was little hype, even after the secret shows, where surprisingly, no one was descriptive of the track, we mainly knew there would be a 'slicing' Jonny guitar solo, which for some Coldplayers, was enough for love at first sight! It was still the polar opposite of A Sky Full of Stars, which had received such unbelievable hype. Fans who were the lucky ones at the Beacon Theater, in New York, heard the track for the first time in public. Even then, Chris asked everyone not to record the final track (to which Chris described as the best track he had written) on the night, to which the majority complied. A low quality recording was leaked on the internet and this was days before Ghost Stories was about to stream to iTunes and didn't reach further than the odd link on Twitter and the private message boxes of some Coldplayers. Within the first few days of streaming, True Love received a great fan reception, ranking within the top 3 Ghost Stories songs, as measured via the main site and forum polls.

True Love turned out to be a regular feature in Coldplay's post-release setlist, even appearing during the album release party at iHeart Radio out of half a dozen tracks performed on that evening. The multi million dollar screen at the secret show in LA, then broadcast as the Ghost Stories film on TV stations across the world, featured a beautiful burst of colour during the band's performance of the emotional song and it was very much a highlight of the intimate and magical show.

On July 1st, news escaped via Twitter that the official video for True Love was being filmed and the rumours of True Love being the follow up to A Sky Full of Stars were looking to be certain. The video is set to feature a couple of ballet dancers. Chris, who was interviewed by 'Elliot In The Morning' (featured below) on 30th July, commented that a 20 minute edit of the official video for True Love has been filmed.

The band are set to appear in 'strange costumes' for the official video, perhaps tying in with Chris' comment of a special costume coming through the mail last Friday, suggesting a live filming of Chris rocking the outfit to cap off the video (similar to Paradise!) and it appears True Love is likely to be released to coincide with the upcoming iHeart Radio music festival in Vegas this September!

The date of the official video or even the release of another EP are unknown but it is believed to be after the summer promotion of the current single, A Sky Full of Stars, most likely in September, when Coldplay will visit Las Vegas for their iHeart Radio music festival appearance and are also strongly rumoured to be featuring at the iTunes festival in London.

Influences and recording

Paul Epworth, who was one of the producers working on Ghost Stories, was largely influential during the recording of True Love and before the album release, posted a picture on instagram of the orchestra recording Coldplay's fourth track from the new Coldplay.

Star producer, Timbaland, who has appeared alongside Chris Martin in person previously, gave the band a helping hand by recording the bass drum line for True Love. Chris talked about Timbaland with Zane Lowe, during the revealing interview a few months ago and said he spent a day in the studio with Chris working on the song.

Fan reviews

Lets have a look at a selection of fan reviews. True Love, since release, has consistently being rated within the top 3/4 songs of the album by fans.

A very positive review by RhysBP

True Love would have to be one of the three best songs off the album. It can be compared to older Coldplay as it sees the band going back to pre-Viva days when strings wouldn’t make such a dominating presence.

At first, the song sounds like it is continuing on with the upbeat vibe left over from Ink. However, as Martin takes centre stage, you can tell it’s going to be another story of separation agony. The chorus is made up of Martin asking his lover that even if she doesn’t love him, she should lie to him anyway. Ouch! From then on, you can tell that True Love is one of the saddest songs on the album.

In similar fashion to Strawberry Swing, the percussion heard on True Love is very minimal but very effective. Featuring a mix of electronic drum beats and a bass drum from an unlikely source in Timbaland, the riff is capped off by what sounds like a hand clap. It doesn’t change much from that formula but its repetition doesn’t seem to drag the song down. You can almost thank the string arrangement for being played at over the top of it.

There are two really shining moments on this song, the first being Martin’s falsetto. He doesn’t sing pass the three minute mark but in that short time, his falsetto is magical. It is well exemplified in the chorus, where he draws out the world ‘lie’.

The second part occurs not long before the end of the song. Buckland comes in with a demanding guitar solo from that literally slices through the song like a hot knife through butter. If it wasn’t for this solo, the song would’ve petered out very quickly.

Overall, this song is so heartbreaking but so addictive to listen to at the same time. I won’t be surprised if this was released as a single in the future.

RATING - 5/5

Another from getithom

And a more critical review by the_escapist

Although it starts with kind of some upbeat notes, from the moment Chris starts singing the lyrics one notices that it is going to be heartbreaking song. Probably for such reason, throughout the first minute, the attention is centered on Chris voice and lyrics while those same notes that started the song provide a sense of ambient which suits perfectly. This song is Coldplay at what it probably does best - mellow and sad songs. Will's backing vocals suit perfectly and while listening to the chorus, once can really feel the pain behind the message that the song is trying to convey. And last but not least, and probably out of nowhere, Jonny comes out with the most heartbreaking and original riff he has made up to date. Sounding a bit out of tune, the guitar screams pain and sorrow while Martin sings the last notes and the song ends abruptly. A solid song for a great record. 7/10.

True Love received votes of 9/10 or 10/10 from the majority of Coldplayers on the forums!

In the darkness, before the dawn

It was the first track he had heard from Ghost Stories and was quite the statement! On the album, it provides the ambient 'cushion' following the emotional rollercoaster. Midnight will be the next ghost story article!

Next Coldplay tour in a 'couple of years' & more revelations

Chris Martin has been a busy body with several interviews since the announcement of the Coldplay Las Vegas festival appearance a few days ago. Today, he has been involved in four interviews with various US radio stations. Y100, Radio 104.5 Philadelphia, The Kevin and Bean show and 104.3 MYFm (which airs on Monday). Coldplaying.com will bring you the breakdown and the links to listen to all interviews! We will start off with the highlights from the personal questions

Friends, Paparazzi and personal life

- Jay-Z is a close friend to Chris (as we know) but when asked about Kayne West, Chris explained that he doesn't know Kayne so well and they work together on material sometimes.

- Performing with Jay-Z and Rihanna at the Paralympics closing ceremony in 2012 was a personal live highlight for him.

- Chris featuring as a guest advisor on The Voice USA changed his views on reality shows. He now thinks a singer's career is benefited by showcasing themselves on reality shows such as The Voice and XFactor.

- The media/paparazzi presence when out with the kids (Apple and Moses) used to upset Chris but he now adapts to it and is more accepting. Chris views it as how it is and feels for single mothers such as Adele who are young and have to deal with even attention.

- Chris denies rumours that him and Gwnyneth Paltrow are back together. 104.3 WHYFm quoted (as their interview airs on Monday) :

"The truth is... Well, I don't really love talking about this stuff," explained the singer. "But the thing we told everyone at the beginning of the year is true. We are very close, we are not together. But, we're... you know... thats the truth... and uh thats it. You know, there's a lot of love. So there's nothing... No scandal i'm afraid. I wish i could give you scandal."

(thanks The Master)

A Sky Full of Stars video

- There was another video made for the 2nd single, a week before the eventually 'streets of Sydney' official video. The first video was "messed up and didn't get it right" (the one we can assume is in the shop window during the official vid)

- The whole official video was filmed in just 15 minutes!

- Chris says the reason for the "busking outfits" during the official video was they wanted to make a video that was the opposite of the "Dancing and nightclubby" vibe the song gives.

- During the shooting of the video in the streets of Sydney, news crews would approach them and ask them questions to which Chris laughed about and added that in the end, they were on the same wavelength and continued with the video.

Upcoming tour dates and plans

- Coldplay full tour in a "couple of years".

- One of the reasons for not touring much recently was that the band wanted to break the cycle of touring, they did not want the same pattern of a tour every few years. The band felt this was right and it would make sense when the next tour starts to happen.

- Most of the dates planned for the Ghost Stories era have happened.

- Chris is confident and certain of future plans.

- Chris has a special outfit which has come through the mail and plans to use it during one song at the upcoming Vegas festival. He can't reveal any further details! (Rumour mill - iHeart - True Love - clip for official video, Chris dressed as a heart?! Your thoughts please!)

- Upcoming shows described as the feeling of "being let out of the box again".

- Chris is looking forward to the solo show which will be 'a bit different'

- When asked about Coldplay's live highlight, Chris stated one of his highlights was the Paralympics closing ceremony in London 2012 (where he mentioned Jay-Z and Rihanna)

The Freedom of Exeter campaign and Wish I Was Here

- Kevin and Bean advise Chris of the popular internet campaign to give him recognition in his hometown of Exeter. Chris has no idea of this and said it "sounds great"! He name dropped Bono who told him the benefits of having the freedom of the city with being able to park anywhere and ability to have sheep on public land!

- Chris never wanted to sing Wish I Was Here. He also thought a Woman's voice would suit the track and that Zach Braff suggested Cat Power to him.

Ghost Stories sales so far!

It has been also two months since Coldplay released their sixth studio album, Ghost Stories to the world of excited fans. The band's latest effort is a very open and honest offering, from Chris Martin's personal lyrics and has been given a mixed reception, with many fans praising the immersiveness and emotional feel to the album. A few critics, as Chris expected, did not take to the new album.

Commercially, Ghost Stories sales have matched expectations or have even beaten them, depending on how you look at the figures. Album sales are down year on year and so far, its sales of over 400,000 copies in the UK so far do not even surpass the sales of X&Y during its first week on sale but if you put it in the context that Ghost Stories is the biggest selling album of the year in the UK and many countries, Coldplay's power in the charts hasn't faded away, it has stayed firm just like the band's hunger and chemistry.

Single updates

A mini update for Magic and A Sky Full of Stars :

- A Sky Full of Stars reached new peaks in Australia (#2), in UK (#9) and few other countries

- A Sky Full of Stars has been rising on US radio and on Spotify

- Magic is still doing well on Spotify and it will become one of the fastest songs to reach 100M streams.

Ghost Stories sales to date and totals

Ink - Catchy, fun and upbeat!

For next article in the series, after we looked back at the rise of first single from Ghost Stories, Magic and Guy's creative brilliance, we move on to one of the more uplifting tracks from Coldplay's new album, Ink. The highly rated third song from Ghost Stories has a fun side to it that contrasts to the tracks that proceed it within the album. Catchy, fun and upbeat, Ink summarized in a few words.

Ink is reminiscent to Strawberry Swing in the build of the song and the popularity. Strawberry Swing was popular from the beginning but it wasn't seen as a focal point within Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends, that was until the relaxing and upbeat tune was sealed as a fan favourite as it grew more and more with many fans over the course of the era and was eventually a radio only single with an

! Ink seems to be heading the same way, with more fans who didn't initially rate Ink as their standout track from Ghost Stories, increasingly loving the uptempo song.

As a single choice, it was thought to be the next release after current single, A Sky Full of Stars. Coldplay opted for True Love, with Ink possibly becoming the band's fourth single from Ghost Stories if they decide to continue with the promotion of their latest album, most likely in the new year of 2015.

The mysterious track from Ghost Stories

Ink ended up being the most mysterious track from Ghost Stories, with the studio or the live version not being heard in public until the actual official iTunes stream was made available a week before the global release of Coldplay's new album! The same could be said about True Love, for those who didn't listen to the live version at Beacon Theatre, New York, which was leaked in low quality after the gig.

A handful of lucky fans did hear Ink live a long time before the eventual iTunes stream. The venue was the secret show in LA, which was the location of the Ghost Stories film. Reactions to the song were interesting to say the least! It was described as a 'Coldplay classic' with 'upbeat' and 'Chris on acoustic guitar' mentioned frequently with Ink usually listed as one of the favourites from the show by delighted fans who could only share their experience in written form.

The mysterious cloak surrounding Ink began to unravel when Coldplay revealed an official lyrics hunt on their Facebook and Twitter page, sparking a worldwide hunt for clued up fans! The lyrics for Ink were found by a Coldplayer called Courtney, in a libary within Johannesburg, South Africa

The lyrics were generally praised as one of the best off Ghost Stories, while the opening two lines, starting with "Got a tattoo that said '2gether thru life", did not receive the greatest reception on the Coldplaying forums!

Live highlights

Ink has been played sporadically over the Ghost Stories intimate shows, with the first live appearance outside of the secret shows being in the same place once more, in Los Angeles, that time at the Royce Hall on 19th May, the day of the album release.

The highlight, was no doubt, the magical arena where the guys jammed away to the potential fan favourite. This is part of the Ghost Stories film, aired in multiple countries around the world, originally filmed towards the end of March at the Los Angeles secret show. The screens, which were largely part of the $4 million Coldplay spent constructing the 360 degree stage, beamed a beautiful pattern of the stage and stars surrounding the arena, it was truly a brilliant moment!

Fan reviews

Ink was ranking within the top 3 since the stream and release of Ghost Stories, according to various polls on the forums and on the main site. Let's take a look at some written fan reviews of the catchy, fun and upbeat track.

By Wilson on the forums

This song might very well be my favorite song off the whole album (this or Midnight)! I like how it's low key yet it's still a little up beat at the same time! The lyrics are pretty simple yet that contributes to the rich melodies very well! All I know is that I love this song so much that it hurts! I'd give it a 8/10

By 42JTR on the forums

I'm listening to Ink as we speak. I've loved Ink since the beginning but now I realise, this song might be one of their best since the Viva era in my opinion. It's a mix of Strawberry Swing, Rainy day, Magic and the classic Coldplay. Jonny's riff is lovely, Guy has some really nice bass lines and the drums are mostly acoustic (not electronic) The lyrics are simple but beautiful. It's a classic Coldplay song, upbeat, relaxed and meaningful. I particulary love the ''Yeah's'' and the Will's parts. He really has a lot of beautiful vocals in this song. That's all I can say about this song. Beautiful, piece of art.

9/10

and finally, another review from lennyrott2

Ink is an unexpected track on Ghost Stories as a solid, upbeat, and slinky pop song. A surprising array of instrumentation dances around a light drumbeat as Chris, like on the single Magic, convincingly delivers ambiguous and cheesy lyrics of love and loss in perfect pop-star form. Much more than other tracks, Ink feels like an audible jam session that delves into more light-hearted and worldly sounds, which not entirely unique in the context of music, or fitting in the context of the album, still makes it a stand out.

8/10

These polls results, rating the initial reception of Ink, after the release of Ghost Stories really show the popularity of the track!

Not 'Call it Magic' but 'Call it True Love'! The heartbreak love song that proceeds Ink on Ghost Stories will be the next article in the series and a look at the beginnings and influences of Coldplay's 3rd single....

Two delightful Chris Martin interviews on UK radio.

Our charismatic and witty frontman was back to the usual rounds of light hearted chat before the London shows recently. During the Ghost Stories era, Chris and the band have not done a great deal of interview, in comparison to the previous two eras which is inline with the lower key release for Coldplay's sixth studio album.

Chris Martin on BBC Radio 2 - with Steve Wright

Chris Martin visited the BBC headquarters, where he recently had that very open and personal interview on BBC Radio 1, with Zane Lowe. This time, it was much more of a casual visit, with Chris being his wacky self!

During the fun interview, Chris Martin states his love of scones, missing them due to living away from home! When he was asked "You're a vegeterian of course, right?", to which Chris replied, "not really", "well, I eat meat" as Steve Wright chuckles before Chris added "I was a vegetarian for quite a long time" but stated it changed for various reasons but his daughter, Apple Martin has been a vegetarian since birth. Chris says he doesn't really eat much meat and may be tempted to go back! The interview moved along the same lines with Chris explaining that would only eat something he can kill such as a fish, he wouldn't like it but he could! then amusingly joking, just as Steve Wright was changing the subject, Chris said "a Giraffe" which resulted in more great laughs all-round! The chat moves on to Ghost Stories, and on the subject of the critical reception, Chris said "the pact we made among ourselves in the band was to follow our gut instinct" and that they don't worry about the critics so much anymore. Moving on to influences, Chris mentioned that they are inspired by Scottish band, Travis and influenced now by artists such as Ed Sheeran and Rudimental. 'Alchemise' has been Chris' favourite word since his experience with a sufi teacher and he mentions it a lot during the later part of the brilliant interview, including his gratefulness of being able to have the job of being in Coldplay. To finish off, Chris was asked what was on the agenda next to which he replied, "A tennis academy"! Oh Chris!

Chris Martin on Absolute Radio - with Pete Donaldson

In an interview that was aired only an hour before the stream on the July 1st Royal Albert Hall show took place, Chris Martin talked with Absolute Radio's Pete Donaldson about their live gig preparation, experiences and thoughts about the critics. Chris reminisced about his first Albert Hall experience, seeing the Black Crows live for the first time and how the lead singer smiled towards him which sticks in his great memories! Chris explains the closeness within the band and how they appreciate being with each other and do not take anything for granted and states its a rare trait to which only a few bands such as U2 and Radiohead have. Pete asked Chris, "Does it help being British a little bit, like if someone gets too big for their boots, that you get dragged down a little bit?" and Chris wholeheartedly agreed, "100% I think that's key. Anytime any of us goes a bit off, the others say comon man", "get down" Pete added as Chris agreed. Chris goes over the subject of 'alchemy' once more and the experiences of the album making him stronger. Classic Britpop band, Pulp also remains a favourite for Chris, particularly All Sorted for e's and whizz , which was played presumably through request during the middle of the interview. First single,Magic and the bass line provided by Guy was the next topic during the interview. Pete commented that the album made had him feel drained emotionally and Chris replied semi-jokingly "sorry, it was a selfish album, I needed it!". Chris reflects some more over the reception of the album and the band generally, speaking "A lot of people of people don't really like our band but lots of people do and we really do and I love it, I love being in our band and I think we're great" before laughing and adding, "its such a great feeling". The interview, nearing the end, launching into a tremendous life talk from Chris, prompted Pete to gasp "I wanna high five you Chris". On the subject of critics, Chris mentioned "Who cares if someone scores your album 2 out of 20" with Pete bantering, "who scores albums out of 20??!", the pair laughed.

Coldplay's final bow on the Ghost Stories tour
After a very successful opening night at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday, Coldplay would repeat the feat once more, for the last time on the short and intimate Ghost Stories tour. Tuesday's show was astonishing, while Wednesday was set to be even better, with many fans from Coldplaying attending the show! I (Sparky/Marc) was one of them, heading to my first show since taking over Coldplaying from April . Myself, like many other fans, couldn't get tickets during the initial rush but with luck and generosity from other fans, the majority of Coldplaying could attend the historical Royal Albert Hall show! A few Coldplayers, such as Wisna/Zuzana, who I met outside RAH (Royal Albert Hall) on the first night along with Mayurshikotra, were staying in London for many nights before the shows. My stay was two nights, with sleep being very brief this morning as I replay the memories during my journey home (in my head and on the phone!) that made Coldplay at the Albert Hall one of the best nights ever! The first memories of hearing Coldplay at RAH were shared with thousands of you on Twitter, listening to the brilliant Absolute radio stream with Céline/Coeurli and I updating the Twitter feed as the breathtaking setlist, which saw the return of some golden oldies took shape. The reaction was a joy to see after the gig with reviews on the forums and Twitter straight away from delighted fans. The following morning, the great summer weather in London continued as a group of us on the forums : Myself, Grids/Afi, Linus, Zuzana/wisna and Mayur(shikotra) met up opposite RAH, buzzing in pure excitement for the day ahead, perhaps even more for Linus and I since we didn't see the show on the previous night. We started the Coldplaying day with a trip around Hyde Park, near the Princess Diana memorial fountain. After lunchtime, we left to roam the streets of Camden and heard through the grapevine that Chris Martin was close by, at about 3pm, enjoying the London sunshine too! We met more Coldplayers on the way such as Thalia/Batman and Jelena/Danceteacher and by 6pm, we met for the planned Facebook meet at the statue opposite the Royal Albert Hall, where around 15 of us turned up, ready for the show of our lives. Met many more friendly faces including Ian/ColdplayAtlas, the hugely popular Twitter page for Coldplay updates and video projects. As we all went in one by one or two by two, we met at door 6, where the merchandise was sold, for a few drinks before the show and meeting more great fans and discussing Coldplaying.com. It was close to showtime at that moment and we had missed the support act, AlunaGeorge who was getting mixed reviews. Me and Zuzana were sitting in the stalls, on row L which was actually a great view, pretty close and overlooking Guy with a clear view of Chris' mic. There the odd empty seats as there were the previous nights and I was advised to look out for a Scottish fan with a ginger beard if I needed an empty seat closer but the view was clear so we stayed put but I read on the forums of AROBTTH14 getting arena seats, through this gentleman who had a backstage pass. It would great to know who this is as AROBTTH14 wants to say thanks. The generosity seen during the whole tour has been heartwarming, it really has, it really proves we have the best fans in the whole world!Everyone was shortly seated as the clock struck 9 o clock and Brian Eno's, An Ending built up the anticipation further and a good Coldplayer friend, Vince told me an exert of the same track was actually used in the build up to shows for the A Rush of Blood to The Head tour, interesting! Coldplay entered to soaring cheers, for their presumed final show of the emotional Ghost Stories era. Always in My Head was the usual opener with laser harps in the middle of the 360 stage. The crowd of Coldplayers were on top voice the whole night, singing along to every lyric. Charlie Brown soon followed after Chris Martin, who acknowledges everyone with "I see you there" and then emphasizing "we're in it together, its just you and its just us", "nothing could be better!" and it was true, the army of Coldplayers in RAH went wild to the crowd pleaser from Mylo Xyloto. The boys belted out hits such as Paradise, with a giant sing along at the end and the thunderous Clocks, where Will Champion shows his extraordinary drumming skills. There was a second night for The Scientist, which returned to the setlist on Tuesday for the first show at RAH. Phone wavers galore for another epic sing along. Chris also joked during the crowd interaction, telling the audience they will "play some new songs, some old ones and some One Direction songs"!Coldplay continued to rock with God Put A Smile Upon Your Face performed. The roof being blown off the place during the climax, which then turned into a more somber tone, with Til Kingdom Come, which featured Guy Berryman on the harmonica. The best part of the show in my opinion was the following song, Don't Panic, to which Jonny Buckland sang three times, yes, 3!!!. Chris, who admitted this himself, may never be able to get Jonny to do such a thing today and being the last intimate show for a while, it seems the perfect opportunity to spur on his band mate and best friend. The reaction from the Coldplay fans in the Albert Hall was insane, the whole place was rocking! During Tuesday's show, Jonny sang twice, before being called a 'hero' and a 'legend' by Chris. Now, there isn't any words to describe the wonderful man! Everything's Not Lost continued the show with another moving Coldplayer sing along, followed by Ink, as the stars on the decorated trees around the theater started, quite fittingly, to shine! The emotional True Love prompted bursts of colour from the mini discs all along the roof of the hall and captured the intimacy of Ghost Stories and the venue itself. It wasn't possible to fit Will's drum and bell on the main 360 stage for Viva La Vida, so Chris and Will moved towards the choir end of the Theater, who had been viewing the back of Chris for the majority of the gig and were treated to close proximity performance with ecstatic fans reaching their hands out for Chris, dancing and moving next to them. The laser harps were back for the ambient Midnight, featuring Guy and Chris playing the wonderful instrument and the eccentric moves by Chris, fitting to the 'trippy' theme of the Midnight video. In contrast to Midnight, the crowd mover Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, sounded as great as it did during the Mylo Xyloto tour, prompting many Coldplayers to go crazy and that, I did. One of the three white spotlights was practically shining in my face while I was jumping like I've never jumped before, automatically bringing back fond memories of the last stadium tour! Everyone was given a chance to cool off (just as tad!) as there was a short break before the encore. The band came back to rapturous applause's to play Oceans, a track which although I always liked, has grown on me even more with these shows, it really is so magnificent and atmospheric live and Chris is on top note the whole time. Another big stand out of the night, the current single, A Sky Full of Stars sent the whole theater wild once more, with every fan bouncing up and down and star shaped confetti raining down on the crowd towards the later part of the song. The official Coldplay page posted the following Vine which sums up exactly how it was for us...

The Royal Albert Hall is literally bouncing for A Sky Full Of Stars! A https://t.co/j8bjEyA1Rb
— Coldplay (@coldplay) July 2, 2014
Fix You ended the unique and outstanding night and was dedicated to a fan, called Jonny/Johnny, who Chris mentioned is very well and has various medical complications and does not have long left on the planet, it was really heartbreaking but Chris said he was told by him "Live every day likes its your last". The whole performance was moving and Fix You capped off one of the best Coldplay gigs where the band have not only returned home but have delivered their final 'proper' show of Ghost Stories. The memories from the last few months, mainly online, sharing every bit of news and info with Coldplayers and the fans who went to the show, have made this a very memorable time.^ Image thanks to 42-coldplay on TumblrMany Coldplayers gathered at the end, by the exits to exchange experiences. Mayur managed to get a copy of the setlist from the stage which you can above and it was a repeat of Tuesday's setlist. A number of us stayed in London for a few hours after, coming across Star confetti on the ground and other fans who just had the time of their lives! A lot of us parted ways, until the next time which we all hope would be for any Christmas gigs or at least, for the next tour, looking likely to be towards the end of next year, to relive the most amazing experience together once again. There was also a group of fans I met near the venue between 1-2am who were very kind, talking about Coldplaying with me and expressing their thanks for taking over the site, I am very grateful to have met you guys, along with everyone else on the way. It's been a real pleasure everyone, the enthusiasm everyone has is such a great joy, here's to the next tour and the even greater memories it may bring!
More on the way!
There will be pictures, videos and more reviews from other fans on the way so stayed tuned over the coming days as we continue to celebrate the intimate shows which captured our hearts and are now part of history.

True Love is Coldplay's next single and the video is on the way!

True Love is Coldplay's next single from Ghost Stories!

After speculation that True Love, along with Ink, are the most likely candidates for the next Coldplay single, True Love will be the 3rd single to be released from Ghost Stories. The dark heartbreak theme from the fourth track on Coldplay's new album will be a contrast to the current 2nd single, A Sky Full of Stars, released worldwide two days ago. The release date for the single or EP release is unknown at this time but its to believed that A Sky Full of Stars will continue to be promoted on radio as summer reaches it peak! True Love features a bass drum beat from star producer, Timbaland.

Anchorman, on the official Coldplay website has announced that the forthcoming single release of A Sky Full of Stars, scheduled for June 29th in the UK, will be released worldwide on Sunday 28th June as part of an EP and will contain a radio edit of Coldplay's 2nd single in addition to the previously unavailable tracks outside of the US from the Ghost Stories deluxe edition sold by US retailer 'Target', which includes All Your Friends, Ghost Story and O (reprise).

Chris Martin mentioned during the famous Zane Lowe interview before the album release, the extra tracks are set to be released 6 months from said interview. Could this EP be what Chris was referring to, perhaps originally planned at a later date, for the 3rd single? Or with an array of tracks not making the album cut and with Coldplay's impending studio return after the Ghost Stories tour, we may even see more tracks released by the end of the year!

Here is a preview of Ghost Story on the official Coldplay Youtube channel, from the deluxe version of Ghost Stories and the forthcoming A Sky Full of Stars EP, which is very highly rated by the fans who have heard it so far, as described in the official Coldplaying Ghost Stories review!

Swedish superstar Avicii's edit of the Ghost Stories track, A Sky Full of Stars, which he produced alongside Paul Epworth, surfaced online, revealing what the energetic, EDM inspired track would be like if the Swedish producer had it all his way! The chorus is full blown EDM, opposed to the mixture of styles Coldplay wanted, to fit into the sound of Ghost Stories.

A notable inclusion within the Avicii's edit was the guitar playing before a new set of lyrics, "cause in your eyes, cause in your eyes is a spark" which is an apparent fan favourite from this edit. You can listen to the new edit below via Soundcloud...

Good version but I think what made it on the album was much more concise and polished.
A Sky Full of Stars official video
Since arriving in Australia earlier on this week, the boys have been busy recording the video in the streets of Sydney, in which 250 fans had a chance to be part of. It was hinted that the A Sky Full of Stars official video would be ready shortly after the making of it, pointing towards a more simpler and fan oriented production, opposite to the Magic video which was very structured and acting oriented. After the band completed their successful Australian leg of the Ghost Stories tour, the official music video to A Sky Full of Stars was uploaded to Youtube! Many Coldplayers rushed to give their opinions on the Coldplaying forums and the video was trending on Twitter and Facebook.Without further ado, the A Sky Full of Stars official video!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPRjCeoBqrIThe video was produced by director, Mat Whitecross, who produced many previous Coldplay music videos, most notably Lovers in Japan and Paradise and his videos are widely praised among fans with the odd one splitting opinion, such as Charlie Brown.
Fan reaction
What do Coldplayers across the globe think of the video? Here are the reactions from the forums and Twitter!from bdevil89

I love Matt Whitcross and the videos Coldplay have done together - especially what they did for Paradise, Lovers In Japan... and I like the street vibe visual for the song - but this song is so epic and grand - heavenly and outer space kind of hit, or at least something to do with a sky full of stars - I could come up with some really great ideas for them to make a legit music video that captures the out of this world nature of this song. I am bit disappointed to be honest - it's nice, but not the right fit for this majestic song. They could have incorporated fans into the video by being out in a field under the sky full of stars - I'm sure there are some amazing sky full of stars there in the outback, and across the world. The title itself is such a beautiful visual (e.g. the visual animation of the cover art) - ahhhhh, was hoping for more... but it the official video (I wonder if they would do a second one like they did with Viva - that is more in line with EDM aspect of the song and an actual sky full of stars)

@coldplaying it's so unique how Coldplay has come together with fans in Sydney, Australia to create this spontaneous and exuberant video!
— Hunter Brittingham (@BrittinghamHB) June 19, 2014
from Strawberry Hill

It's fun and bright, but I think it's the wrong concept for this song.

Coldplayer reactions

The A Sky Full of Stars video shoot has enticed many fans so far on our forums with the following positive reviews from Coldplayers :

by ColdplaySheffield

This looks like it has the potential to be one of Coldplay's best videos yet! It looks brilliant! They looked to be having a lot of fun shooting it what the hell are they wearing though?! Hahaaa.

Really can't wait to see this !

"

FJK_12 preferred the route Coldplay were taking for this video

Im so glad they've gone down this route for the video. The more serious, big budget overblown videos never have any character and no element of fun in them. Can't wait for this video!

Apparently, a Koala advised a fan (as they do!) that the video for A Sky Full of Stars video will be ready as soon as later on today! A simple and raw video would be in order if that was true and would make a complimentary contrast to the heavy production on the song itself. Phil Harvey also happened to be dressed as a Koala bear on the set of the video...hmmm.....
