As the Christmas season approaches, we all know the feeling of someone not giving due diligence to the gift that we spent so much on. But Coldplay hope you enjoyed the Xylobands they gave you during the 'Mylo Xyloto' tour - because they spent over £4million on them.

According to The Mirror this weekend, figures filed on Companies House show that Coldplay reportedly spent approximately £4.22million on Xylobands given out to fans during the Mylo Xyloto world tour.

The wristbands, which changed colour in time with the music playing, were made in Devon and invented by Jason Regler. The wristbands cost the band £3 each, and came in green, blue, yellow, red, pink and white - contain light-emitting diodes and were controlled by software which tells them to light up, flash and blink via a radio transmitter.

A source quoted by The Mirror states:

The Companies House records – filed by the band’s partnership Headlong Tours and covering the financial year to March 2013 – note in minute detail Coldplay’s world arena dates. Coldplay's world tour in support of their fifth album started in Madrid in October 2011 and finished in December 2012 in New York. The tour made them £35 million in total but £1.1 million was spent on the set, whilst £954,000 went on hotels and £100,000 on catering. Despite the expenditure, Coldplay recorded gross earnings of £35million (up from £22million) and once all the bills had been settled, made a pre-tax profit of £14million.

Coldplay have been forced to cancel the previously postponed Latin America tour expected in 2013. A short note from the band on the official webpage on 31st January read: "Dear friends in Latin America, We're sad to say that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we're unable to reschedule the postponed Mylo Xyloto tour dates in 2013. For this we're very sorry. It may seem small consolation now but we'll definitely have your corner of the world at the front of our minds when the time comes to do it all again. Thank you for your incredible patience and support. With love - Chris, Will, Guy, Jonny."

they (Coldplay) love latin america... but i can't understand this, they announce a tour and 3 days later they postpone it, that's not normal, planning a tour is not easy. I used to think that the reason of the cancellation was because of the grammys & brit awards (both are in february), but now, i don't know, really, maybe one of the members is sick? I appreciate that they finally came out and said "stop wasting your time, it's not happening". Nevertheless, I'm really really sad. Very, very sad news... At least now they officially cancelled it and killed our uncontrollable hopes due to 'postponed' mention in last announcement... Maybe it's just a matter of language difference, but in direct translation 'your corner of the world' made us feel belittled... (it can look like, but it's honestly not a complex, I've just realized many people had the same perception in Brazil). And I'm afraid the 'small consolation' won't happen at all, 'cause at this point we all know that many others interests come first whenever a new tour starts. I can totally sympathise with all Latin American fans, I really do, but when they say "your corner of the world", in no way are they degrading Brazil and South America. It is just a saying for a particular area of the world, so no, the band don't mean that in a "belittling" way. Honestly, coming from a fellow Brit like Coldplay I can 100% guarantee you they didn't mean anything bad. It's a term we use quite often over here not just for the world but for places in the UK too. Latinamerica all together is a HUGE part of this planet... calling it a corner makes it sound less important than what it actually is. I would have liked a better explanation that the one we got as well. I do not think it is fair for so many fans that have been waiting for so long to see them. Postponing the tour was already a let down, but now cancelling after two months of having them waiting in just plain disrespectful. I know they are people too, but in the end, the reason why they are successful is because of their fans, and i think we deserve WAY more than just a few lines statement. I just read the bad news and I still can't believe what my eyes see, it's really bad news. I was waiting the mylo xyloto gig so anxiously... after attending 2010's gig in my country with my family, I just couldnt wait to go to another "coldplay concert experience". Also, with the title "Dear Latin american friends" I expected good news, I was all excited about that title at first! But hell no... after reading it just makes me sad and a bit mad. It's such a bad news and so strange that it also makes me x42 times anxious, not just to hear the next album but also to know that they will visit my country or "this corner of the world" again soon. On behalf of all my coldplay support I can't believe I missed the mylo xylotour concert experience. I watched every live streaming that they did, pics, fan recordings, tv appearances, went to the cinema for the live 2012 and I'm sad and I'll miss grabbing a xyloband at the entrance of the stadium, and wear it for the light of it to set me in another human state, I'll miss hearing them play live in an awesome concert quality... I'll miss so many things it makes me melancholic and low-spirited to write them down. this is what I wanted to say about the news, this is a heartbroken coldplay fan in a sadness state when the news regarding the band couldn't be worst. 3 years waiting the band to come, and they were about to come you know? I was very sad to read the cancellation and I feel so bad for you guys. I don't think the reason has anything to do with money or the Grammys, for starters. If they say that it's due to circumstances beyond their control, I believe them. The fact that they don't tell us more doesn't necessarily mean that they don't want to, maybe they just can't. It may have to do with the logistics or the organization of the tour, and I'm guessing that, usually when a company is involved in any kind of project, if it fails, the partners don't say IT'S BECAUSE OF THAT PARTICULAR COMPANY, BOOOH. That would be unprofessional. It surely was unprofessional of them to cancel the tour like 2 days after announcing it, but that also convinces me that it has nothing to do with them wanting to record instead of touring. They have the whole year to work in the studio anyway, and, the way we know them, I just can't picture them cancelling such a huge thing and disappointing thousands of fans, simply because they change their mind. Also, I'm sure they'd have LOVED to come to Latin America! Well, I'm sorry for Latin America, but honestly this last tour was limited in many ways. They didn't play as many cities in the US as they had previously, and for those of us that can't afford a plane ticket to fly to NY or LA, and rely on being able to drive at least 5-6 hours to see them in Denver or PHX were screwed out of seeing them this time as well, b/c they didn't play either of those cities this tour. The closest to me was Dallas, a 12 hour drive or an expensive plane trip=no can do. The touring must take alot out of them. I know I couldn't do it over and over and over as much as they do. Glad they're taking time to live their lives with their families and children, and hopefully making more music. [thanks Yeshe]

This really doesn't sound like Coldplay. The tour was definitely making enough money and the tickets probably sold out... I think it might be a personal matter that one of the band members might have to attend to for the next few months- we'll probably never know. Thank goodness it's finally over!!! The worst era ever is over! A horrible album and a horrible tour. Very happy it's all over. Now hopefully they will get back in the studio and release something that's actually good! [thanks joecortazzo]

I think they're not being paid the tons of money that a production like Mylo Xyloto Tour requires, the Xylobands, the lights, the transporation of all of their equipment. I also think they preferred to take some rest and get ready to go to the studio again for the new record... I'm feelin really sad... I got to see them in Austin 2011 when the era was just beginning, I got to be in the premier of Paradise and Up In Flames (Live), and also I got to see them in New York this end of year 2012... but, eventhough I wanted to see them in my country with all of my friends, I'm feeling so low cause they were really happy that Coldplay was coming and really enthusiastic about the shows, they wanted to have a Xyloband, they wanted to see all the crowd jumping up in lights together, the band singing and doing what they do best, perform! and all the other show things such ass papers rain, balls, lights, fireworks... But now it's all gone... I just hope the next tour is better than this, because MX is their best production ever! (In my opinion). So, either way, my friends and I had decided for all next coming tours we're going to at least one US date first, and if they come to Latinamerica then we would go to that one too... Saludos a todos! For everyone saying the band are somehow "disrespectful", "unprofessional" etc. let me just offer my 2 cents: If the reason for the cancelation is some sort of logistical issue (with the local promoter etc.), and from the information we have available it really seems like it's something along those lines, the band are likely not at liberty to divulge any more information than they have. It really is that simple. Europe is the #2 global concert market (behind north america), and is also the band's home market. As much as it pains some people, SA isn't. Not fair perhaps, but that's the way it is. Though for the record, I can think of several bands who have cancelled major tours in major markets (not to mention the bands who simply don't go to places like South America, or if they do only tour there once every 10 or 15 years.) Objectively, measured against other bands, Coldplay have a damn good record for South American touring (which isn't to say they're the best, or that they hit everywhere their fans would like them to go.) Only that out of 5 major touring campaigns, they've had South American legs for 3, and 2 of those have been fairly extensive. To be frank though, they would still be a global mega band if they never sold/records or toured in SA, so let's not over-inflate the importance of the region in purely commercial terms. The band's commercial base is primarily in Europe and North America for better or worse. This thread has WAY too much hyperbole for my tastes. In all honesty, if I was in the band (or any band really) and read some of the things people have posted in this thread, I'd be sorely tempted to never go near South America again. -climbs off soapbox- [thanks fakfak]

I don't know if they are involved with touring or to what extent, but it could have something to do with their label. I know it's been suffering lately. Maybe they are also waiting to work out a new contract with Coldplay before continuing or something, cause isn't the band's contract up or something? Some random thoughts about that cancellation: - I was expecting it but still when the band message came out I couldn't help but feel sad & disappointed & I don't even live in Latin America, so I can't blame ppl who were promised concerts on the band's official site being extremely sad & angry. - I don't expect any further explanation from the band, no reasons were offered before when the band (on previous tours) cancelled a concert, so don't ask for it now. - I don't think the cancellation decision from the band itself at all. I don't believe any of the personal rumours about illness & all. I think it had to do with their management & organization stuff that I don't understand much about. - The whole problem came because of the official announcement of the tour, probably without a final confirmation from the organizing company maybe someone got wrong information & was enthusiastic to share it. - It could be that they were trying to work things out the past two months to make this tour happen, but eventually failed. Or they could have known it all along but waited for an unknown reason to announce it. - though the band message came out as friendly as possible ( addressing dear friends, not dear fans & offering clear apology) the phrase "corner of the world" for a non native English speaker could sound a bit degrading, esp. coming in a sad context. - I watched the concert at Rock in Rio & thought that the audience was really great, loud & enthusiastic & the band members were clearly enjoying themselves, so no, I can't even imagine that they wouldn't love touring there. The energetic atmosphere ot the MX tour would've mixed wonerdfully with such audience..Alas!! It's the loss of the tour itself, though I doubt it may offer any consolation to the disappointed fans. I'm destroyed... if they'll be working on a new album... honestly it doesn't make me feel any better this tour was the one to see and i won't now... and when i could see them again here? 2015 2016? last time i could see them was back in 2010 in buenos aires! i've been checking their website every day or every 2 days since mylo came out to see when they were announcing the latin american tour, after the cancelation also... and imagining how i could be dressed like to watch them, which tickets to buy, the plan for that day... it's not just "well, bad luck, i'll see them with new songs in the future." The launch sounds like it could be a space shuttle flight. "We're good on deck, good for show", a male voice intones over a wireless communications system, writes News.com.au in a preview to the forthcoming Live 2012 concert film, due out later in November, and the Australasian tour that starts in New Zealand on Saturday (10th November).

The "show" is Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto world tour. Within only the first 30 seconds of their Coldplay Live 2012 DVD, as the goosebumps rise along your arm, it becomes apparent this ambitious light and sound extravaganza could be the musical equivalent to a rocket launch. The technology involved in assisting these four musicians - Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - to realise possibly the biggest show on earth by a rock band is mind-blowing.

There are the LED wristbands, the confetti cannons, the lasers, the state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems - if Coldplay is making money on this tour, it isn't much. Yet for all the bells and whistles, Chris Martin and his bandmates remain the focal point. And, even with his tongue firmly in cheek, the frontman [pictured] admits some nights are tougher than others.

"In the build-up to a concert I just get really excited. I'm aware of everyone running around. There's always a panic about something," Martin says. "You know, the rain's coming down or ... the wristbands aren't working ... or Will's bench-pressed too much and his abs have burst. I don't know what the problems might be - Guy's just become too handsome to be lit properly ... or Jonny's fingers have started moving too fast and he's gonna play too many notes. Whatever the problem is, I always enjoy watching it get solved before 9pm."

Martin is a marathon performer, almost sprint skipping across the stage and down the lengthy runway into the middle of the crowd, designed to give those up the back that closer look at the action. The rock'n'roll myths fade away when you see him backstage, contemplative one moment, exploding with energy the next. "Then I start getting real adrenalin and start doing Rocky shadow boxing and all that kind of stuff. So I get as excited as anyone else," he says.

Buckland explains that the concert's graffiti bursts of psychedelic colour, accentuated by the fluoro shades emanating from thousands of wrists pumping the air in concrete and steel stadiums, stemmed from a much simpler concept. "I think the initial image we started with for the Mylo Xyloto album was a rose bursting through concrete. That was the kind of starting point of the whole thing ... the splash of life and colour and passion in a bleak, grey place," he says. Off stage, Coldplay describe themselves as a "circus family".

They play football and cricket and like any modern business person who has to travel for work, they miss their families. Drummer Champion felt the heartache of absence on the last tour. "The toughest bits are when you're away from home, from family. I remember we were playing in Las Vegas, which is a very silly place at the best of times," he says. "I got a call saying that one of my kids was in hospital and there I was in Las Vegas, you know, and I just thought ... there couldn't be a worse place to be when you know your kid is not very well. So it's hard and anyone that travels has that kind of thing to deal with often. We're not the first band to come across these problems by any means. But, yeah, those moments are pretty tricky."

For every tough moment, there is a triumph. All four band members, and their tightknit team, cite the Mylo Xyloto tour as Coldplay finding freedom in the connection with their fans and no longer caring what the haters think. "I see this tour is the last, kind of, shackles being thrown off of being worried about what anyone thinks. Through the course of Mylo Xyloto I'd say that as a band we're functioning better than we ever have," Martin says.

"We've been through the breakups and addictions and arguments and financial disagreements and ... not working properly together in the studio or falling out about which hours someone likes to work. We're a very private band, we don't tell anyone very much. We definitely don't tell anyone about all the darker side of things, because we don't really believe in that rock'n'roll cliche, myth thing." [Article ends]

As we hinted several days ago, Chris Martin has rubbished reports that Coldplay were going on a 3-year haitus and that he was merely referring to the length of time it would take the band to return to Australia on a world tour. This is according to an article in today's Daily Star who were at the launch of the MX artwork exhibition in London yesterday in aid of children's charity Kids Company. The Daily Star continue: Coldplay fans have got an early Christmas present – the band is secretly working on a new album. Laughing off reports that he and the lads are taking a three-year break, Chris Martin told me in an exclusive interview that they had begun working on the follow-up to last year’s mega-selling Mylo Xyloto. Chris, 35, told me: "I’ve been writing songs and I’m so fired up about the band’s future. I’m fortunate to do what I do and no way do I want to stop. This three-year break idea only came about because I said at a gig in Australia that we might not be back there for three years. That’s probably true, but that’s just how a world tour works. No chance are we taking a three-year break."

The charming frontman was speaking at the launch of an exhibition of Coldplay photos and artwork in aid of children’s charity Kids Company. And the dad of two reckons working with them inspires the band to keep making music.

Chris said: "If we don’t work hard we make less money to give Kids Company. We’re very spoiled and that’s a constant motivator to keep going. Our work with the charity is ongoing. We just tried to buy a building for them near our studio in London, but got gazumped. It was probably Radiohead that outbid us."

The exhibition includes the huge canvas the band helped paint for the cover of Mylo Xyloto. Chris laughed: "It’s mildly embarrassing to see the painting again. It’s not exactly a Monet or Matisse. But it’s for a good cause and I’m happy to see it because it reminds me of all the ideas we had for the album, which I’m proud of." [Article ends]

Chris Martin took the unusual step of telling the world from the Brisbane stage that Coldplay would take three years off from touring - if the media circus is to be believed over the last 24 hours. We think differently, however - it'll be three years before they next return to Australia for the next album era - which is about the right timescale considering it was 2009 when Coldplay last took their Viva La Vida tour down under (who could forget that Sydney Sound Relief dash?)

Its so much of a circus over this story that ContactMusic have been playing Chinese whispers as well. They reported, 'The British rockers played a concert in Brisbane on Wednesday after which frontman Chris Martin suggested the band has grown tired of touring (!). Coldplay has been on tour since October 2011 promoting their latest record, Mylo Xyloto. "This is the last big show for three years or so," he told reporters after the show (!), while adding, "I don't want to stop."'

Did anyone else recall Chris Martin taking a break in between songs to speak to reporters or go rushing over to them as soon as Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall finished? No we didn't think that happened either. In fact most of the articles still think the Latin America tour is still going ahead, when in reality it has been postponed, including the following sources - EntertainmentWise, The Sun and the Belfast Telegraph.

It doesn't mean that Coldplay is going on hiatus. It's more likely that they'll start work on their next album - one with a more easily pronounceable title, as Chris explained earlier in the week. And if you want to know what Chris Martin is really thinking, just ask the Coldplayers...

I think he might have just refering to Australia cause he tends to say that thing of "We're not be touring here for three years" in lots of paces. The article might have just omitted the "here" part. Anyways, they do deserve a break, but it would be lovely they re schedule the La tour first, if not we'd have to wait for another 5 or 6 years for them to come back and I don't even want to think about it. One day journalists may learn that Chris is not a reliable source of information, especially not in the middle of a concert. For example, at the concert i went to during the VLV tour, he said Guy was going to be on America's Got Talent as a naked flamenco dancer. did this happen? [thanks coldplayisawesome]

He did say they were opening a theme park! In any case, this is non news. I think he meant it's their last big show in Australia, he says that in LA every time he's here,"we won't be here for a long time." No big deal. Rest. Next album. Next tour, simple as that. [thanks kittybitty]

I just read this too... Considering it definatly isnt even the last big show of this tour, I wouldnt trust the article. Coldplay have signed a new 5 album contract recently (so i read somewhere). I suspect what chris meant was that would be the last big show the band play in AUS for 3 years.. [thanks Jack1505]

Well, they said they would take a break after X&Y didn't they? But the gap between the albums was pretty much the same, I think he was just saying they wouldn't be playing in Australia for the next 3 years, that makes more sense. [thanks Prospector]

Take everything out of perspective and take out words to make things sound much bigger than they are.... [thanks Linus71]

i heard it from a friend today. i was out and i told her that that was absolutely impossible for many reasons... but in the way home i started panicking... there were legitimate reasons for panicking. if someone said that before they'd announced the cancellation of the latin american tour i would say they were insane. but after that and after all the confusion i didn't and i still don't, but in a lesser degree, know what to think. i've read the comments here, and specially taking into account the comment of the ones there in brisbane... i'd say he meant going to australia as he always says... it's the same for every end of every important leg of the tour he always says that. and if they weren't coming here (lat america) for 5 or 6 years it would be totally rude, illogical and almost impossible. BUT there's no official confirmation or denial about this... one more thing: they always take a 3 year (more or less) break between albums... some to rest (and we encourage that they deserve it!) and to work on the album properly (and we encourage that! it takes time to make a great album... i'd be worried if they were announcing a new LP in a year or so...) Feedback from Coldplayers on the news of the Latin American tour postponement:

It hasn't even been a week just a couple of days They even removed completely the dates from the live section, not even a "postponed" thing next to them. But this is so sad I know it says they'll reschedule, I just hope things don't get complicated and they cancel the tour... So I guess the waiting begins again. I'd like to believe that it was a logistical problem but why wouldn't they realize it sooner? It's been just 3 days since the announcement, also wouldn't they list it in the site as "logistical circumstances"? This is all too weird. Let's wait and see what happens. [thanks Arantza]

This is truly very weird. I think that the promoter maybe have gone bankrupt or there is very fishy surrounding this. For me personally it will cost me a bit. I booked a flight from Sweden to Santiago for this. [thanks Rodan]

Extra weird!!! I'm worried 'cause to postpone a tour this way is certainly a tough decision that comes with a big motive they kept the US shows which rules out some bad possibilities but i'm still worried. Talking about myself, It was terrible, had booked flight tickets and planned lots of things. And God knows how hard will it be to do it twice. Last but not least, can't believe our moaning for not having a tour will start again. Really hope that everything will be fixed soon (and they don't reschedule the shows for impossible dates to me). I feel bad saying that it sucks that I bought airline tickets just last night, but I'm truly worried. I don't think the band takes these things lightly. If they had to cancel something, it must be because of something really big. And considering it's only been three days since they first announced it, it sounds like something bad. [thanks nanda]

I suspect the most likely thing is a promoter issue. If the current promoter has pulled out, fingers crossed they find another one quickly and get the shows back on track! I wonder if its something logistical? Visa problems maybe? Or something to do with moving the set? The fact that they haven't cancelled the rest of their Australia leg or the New York shows in December would suggest that its not something more drastic than that! Oh my. I feel terribly sorry for everyone who had planned to go to these shows. I am sure you're distraught, and I sympathise with you totally and share your pain. I'm worried why it has been postponed so suddenly. It's a bit unprofessional from the band to do this (although I know it may have been out of their hands). I hope they're okay. what a bad news , i think coldplay have canceled Latin America tour because they had problems with organization(prices of tickets),because they mentioned they have been forced to canceled the tour, i think they dont have problems with the band,now its time to wait for the annunciation of the new dates. So I've been investigating a little and apparently Time For Fun (the promoters) has reconsidered bringing the tour to Latin America. It seems the Lady Gaga concert was a HUGE flop in sales in the region and they fear the same happens with Coldplay. [thanks JM-SP2]

Tours and logicists are planned out far in advance. They have the money for planes if shipping was an issue. My guess would be an issue on the other end. Is the same promoter doing the whole tour? Can't believe this was actually canceled. Really hope they reschedule. I wasn't planning to go but the sudden announcement of being canceled was strange. Also, the lack of explanation is very vague. I'm sure they'll tour there sooner or later. They always do. [thanks LiquidSky]

I dont think its a problem related with promoters, basically because almost every country has its own, even here in mexico sometimes there are several promoters for one single tour within the country. My guess is that its something personal, makes no sense any issue with promoters, sales, logistics etc, the tour announcement wouldve been avoided in first place. [thanks hugo]

After months of speculation, Coldplay have today finally announced their 2013 Latin American tour, that will take them to two concerts in Brazil, one in Argentina, one in Chile and finishing with three in Mexico. Tickets for the concerts will begin on 21st November for the two in Brazil, with all the others going on sale on 24th November (except for Chile, tickets for which has yet to be announced.)

The Oracle said back in October last year, "There are no steadfast tour plans other than what we have announced. I wouldn't like to say yes or no but if there's a world tour coming, I'd be surprised if they didn't visit you again sometime." And when asked back in 2010 after the Coldplaying boat trip, whether Latin American fans would have to wait 2 years after touring begins (as in 2007 and 2010) for Coldplay to come back to Latin America, fifth member Phil Harvey said, "We haven’t made any firm plans for touring yet. But personally speaking… I’d like to get back to Latin America asap."

For the second time in two years Coldplay will join Jay-Z for a New Year's Eve show, it has been announced via coldplay.com and many other media sources tonight. The co-headlining concert will take place December 31st at the House that Hov Built aka Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

The New Year's Eve show will be preceded by two headline shows for Coldplay, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on December 29th and at Barclays Center, Brooklyn on December 30th. Naturally 7 will be the supporting act for the December 29 and 30 shows. The three year-end dates mark Coldplay's only remaining US shows for 2012. The two Brooklyn dates also mark the first shows that Coldplay has put on sale in NYC since September 2005. The full list of shows (and discussion links) are as follows:

Coldplay have been chosen as one of the finalists for the 2012 Billboard Top Draw Award, according to various sources including RTT News this week. Other finalists in the category include Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters. The Top Draw award is given to the tour that sold the most tickets. Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto tour, the fifth concert trek from the band, was launched in support of their album of the same name. It begun in October 2011 and expanded into a full-blown production in December of that year.

The awards are based on numbers which were reported to Boxscore from October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2012. Finalists for the 2012 Billboard Touring Awards boast a diverse mix of genres, touring strategies, venue types, and positions on the career arc and their broad geographic footprint points to the increasingly global nature of the touring industry.

The Billboard Touring Awards are primarily based on actual numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore, reflecting real business being done, as opposed to any sort of voting procedure. The exceptions would be such honors as Legend Of Live (Neil Diamond), the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award, the Humanitarian Award (the Apollo Theater), the Road Warrior Award presented by Shell ROTELLA, and the Creative Content Award (Michael Jackson Immortal by Cirque du Soleil), as well as the Eventful Fans' Choice Award, the latter determined by online fan "demands" at Eventful.com for Boxscore's top tours.

Among the other finalists are mega-tours by such veteran artists as Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Madonna and Kenny Chesney, along with newer stars like Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, the Black Keys and Taylor Swift. Nominees for the Top Breakthrough include the Black Keys, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert. Jeff Dunham, Michael McIntyre and Flight of the Conchords are all up for Top Comedy Tour.

Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons have shot down any comparisons often made about them and Coldplay, saying they don't find the band's success appealing, according to Entertainmentwise this weekend, The band have enjoyed success in their own right with their debut album Sigh No More peaking at number two on both the US and UK charts and their most recent release Babel soaring to the top of the charts in several countries including the US.

With their fame steadily rising, Mumford & Sons have often been pitted to likes of Coldplay, who rose from the underground to world domination with several number one albums and singles, world tours and awards. Despite the similarities, Mumford & Sons are keen to distance themselves from the Indie group, saying they don't feel the needs to sell arena tours and other success.

"Oh, God. Is that appealing? Not really," Marcus Mumford replied to GQ magazine when asked if they are flattered by being branded the next Coldplay.

"No disrespect to Coldplay. But we want to do things pretty differently. It's not about being as big as we can be. We don't want to conquer anything," he continued. "We just want to play good shows. We may change our minds but stadiums are something we never really want to do. Arenas are plenty big enough."

Finally, As you may know, Coldplay have recently teamed up with Album Artists to raise funds for Kids Company, a London-based charity which aids some of the most vulnerable children in the London area. The fundraiser includes original Mylo Xyloto artwork, digital prints, canvases, and even the infamous "MX wall", hand-painted by Coldplay and Paris: Coldplay's "artist in residence".

With just weeks until Coldplay embark on their biggest Australian tour to date, they will add an intimate performance in Sydney to their itinery, The Music Network have announced today. The Today Network, Channel V and MAX are giving away double passes, flights and accommodation to the November 15 special event, which coincides with the release of CD, DVD set Coldplay Live 2012 on November 16.

via Music Feeds: With an Australia tour planned as massive as Coldplay’s up-and-coming run of shows, it’s easy to lose the sense of intimacy with your crowd, which is why the band have announced an intimate, and so far secret, gig in Sydney. It’s looking like right now the only way in is to win your tix. The Today Network, Channel V and MAX are all giving away double passes, flights and accom for those fortunate enough to win. The show will take place Thursday, November 15, so you will be privy to the new tuneage a full day before the new album and DVD Coldplay Live 2012 is officially released...

The competition will close November 11th, and according to The Music Network (TMN), only then will fans learn the location of the show. As the US tour comes to an end, attention immediately switched to the reports that Coldplay will be heading for Latin America to tour sometime around March 2013 for a South American leg of their Mylo Xylotour.

This was according to various sources in Brazil, including the UOL website, who were quoted as saying: "Coldplay might come to Brazil in 2013. The site Popload said the band will do 4 or 5 shows in the country in March and one of them will be at March 7th in Porto Alegre, at Grêmio Arena, stadium that's going to be opened in December."

There has been no official word yet about such a tour, but the countries most likely to be host to potential concerts include Brazil (3 dates), Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Peru seems to have been ruled out by a promoter recently. Hopefully we will get more more on any new dates soon - the 2010 tour in February/March of that year was announced almost six months earlier.

Hope is building for Latin American Coldplayers. The Oracle said back in October last year, "There are no steadfast tour plans other than what we have announced. I wouldn't like to say yes or no but if there's a world tour coming, I'd be surprised if they didn't visit you again sometime."

And when asked back in 2010 after the Coldplaying boat trip, whether Latin American fans would have to wait 2 years after touring begins (as in 2007 and 2010) for Coldplay to come back to Latin America, fifth member Phil Harvey said, "We haven’t made any firm plans for touring yet. But personally speaking… I’d like to get back to Latin America asap."

Live Nation (Ontario) revised their camera policy publicly via twitter this week ahead of Coldplay's two Toronto shows next Monday and Tuesday (23rd & 24th July), sparking rumours that the #coldplayfilm DVD would be coming from these shows.

Despite originally tweeting that no cameras would be allowed at all citing the Coldplay tour had requested this, they revised this policy to what we expected it to be, saying that no professional cameras (lenses exceeding 75mm) and no audio/video recording equipment were allowed. Anchorman followed this up with a tweet from the Coldplay account, "Re a few folks asking - you're welcome to bring your camera to a Coldplay show (as long as it's not a professional / removable lens one)."

The Oracle had already previously posted about general Coldplay shows: "Who says you're not allowed to take a camera? Apart from camera phones which I know many people do have these days, you are allowed to take cameras - as long as they're not full professional kit. Leave the telephoto lens at home but snap away and then share your pics via Live Transmission."

Since the original policy was 'at the request of the tour' I'm guessing Coldplay amended or at least ok'd the amendment. But non-professional camers haven't been allowed anywhere on the tour, so why the temporary blanket ban? I think it's because they don't want to may flashed interfering with their own filming. #ColdplayFilmLiveInToronto,lol. *daydreams* Back when they started the #ColdplayFilm, Phil asked for suggestions for where it sould be filmed, and many including me said Toronto. Some even said we deserved it because of the canceled DVD in '06 and I wouldn't be surprised if they did. [thanks TracieMorgan]

I can't believe they're doing this... Coldplay must have a reason though. Maybe they figured, eh, we'll enjoy the show better if we're not holding a camera recording? Just a new rule for the rest of the tour. Hmmmm... or maybe they decided to film the whole show for a DVD??? I think I'll go check what the other venues are doing. [thanks randomnames]

It's so confusing! Oracle says yes, ACC says no. Wish there was just an official statement saying definitely yes/no. I just called ACC and they said "Strictly no cameras, or audio, or video recording devices". They didn't tell me why! They said that phones would be allowed, they can't take away phones, but ANY camera will be confiscated. When I asked why the lady said that it was someone in the tour that requested it, like a manager or high up producer person. It wasn't the ACC who made the decision, or related to the ACC in any way. The woman said she thought it was odd because in the past Coldplay allowed point and shoot digital cameras, but she had no idea why this time. I told her I hope that CP record it and release a DVD, and she agreed. Haha. [thanks alexis16]

Wow... they BETTER be filming the concert there, cause this is really unfair especially for the amount of money you pay for the ticket. Just wondering, does it say anywhere on the ticket that no cameras are allowed. I was just on the ACC website and it said that no cameras are permitted, which is weird cause every concert I've been to there has allowed cameras. [thanks Cristina42]

I'm confused, too. I have VIP tix for both the 23rd and 24th and in the communication they sent out it says "Non-professional cameras and cell phone cameras are allowed during the concert and at the VIP reception." But the LiveNation Advisory I received in Email said no cameras are allowed. So I'm going to only take my cell phone on the 23rd and if I see that cameras are getting in I will post something on this thread for the benefit of the folks attending on the 24th. This is really making me think that they are going to record these shows for the DVD. They like the Air Canada Centre (remember the 2005 video?). [thanks JillyBlue]

I thought that was *always* the policy, at least in regards to the recording equipment. Either way, the first time I saw the lads they filmed it (for How We Saw the World) so it'd be nice if they filmed again and actually got released this time. That said, with floor seats I'm worried that everything will be obstructed by gear if they are indeed filming. Either way, we'll find out Monday! See you there! [thanks adamschoales]
