Along with Coldplay's new album, 'Everyday Life' comes with it a bundle of new merchandise! Although Coldplay merchandise has not had the best reputation in recent years, this year's additions to the store have proven to be of high quality. These new additions would be a perfect stocking stuffer for that Coldplay fan in your life!

Our top picks are the Everyday Life pop-socket, water bottle, journal and hat. All follow the monochrome theme of this album and are of a perfect size for a Christmas stocking stuffer. You can find these on the official Coldplay store or on MerchBar, which tends to have different stock to the official store.

There is nothing a Coldplay fan will love more than the music itself. Coldplay offer their music through a variety of formats including CD, vinyl and more recently cassettes! All eight albums are available on CD and vinyl records. Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends, Live in Buenos Aires and Everyday Life are available on cassette.

Album CD's and Vinyl are readily available online and in-stores, however, cassettes are not common and most can only be found on eBay or Discogs. We recommend you buy your records through your local independent record stores instead of buying from stores such as Amazon. Support local!

Coldplay has an extensive range of t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, posters and more on their official store and in comparison to recent years, it seems that this year's merchandise saw a massive bump in quality.

The 'Coldplay: The Singles 1999-2006' boxset is an ideal gift for any Coldplay fan with a record player. The boxset includes every single the band have released in that period and is a perfect collector's item. If money is no option then 'Safety EP' is the ultimate Coldplay rarity but I would not recommend spending anywhere near the asking prices for it!

The first half of 2018 was quiet for Coldplaying but with the announcement of the A Head Full of Dreams Film and the live album, it felt like old times again! We were lucky enough to interview Mat Whitecross this year and our Twitter and Instagram saw a huge increase in followers. The site saw a slight redesign that made the homepage a lot more pleasing and easy to access. We have finally sorted out the backend for the Coldplay Downloads page and launched it in beta this year. We are hoping to upload more and more concerts and multimedia in 2019!

2000 Miles

This masterpiece was released in December 2003 as part of Best Buy's "Sweet Treats" promotional holiday disc and re-released on streaming platforms last year. Chris recorded this whilst on tour in New York. The track is a cover of 'The Pretenders' song '2000 Miles' released back in 1984 on their Learning To Crawl album with a few pronoun changes in the lyrics.

"We love Christmas songs but everytime we try and write one it's awful so we often cover them well once or twice actually. In fact, the song I would most like to have written is Fairytale of New York by de bloody Pogues of Ireland" - Chris Martin

Christmas Lights

The world famous "Christmas Lights" track was released on December 1st 2010 as a digital download. Described by the band as "a mid-tempo number" in the key of G major, the song was released to very positive reviews.

A few days before releasing a new single called “Christmas Lights”, Coldplay braved the cold weather to film its music video at the South Bank of River Thames in London. They are seen performing the song on a small theatre-inspired stage with red velvet curtains.

Several Elvis Presley impersonators play the violin (including Phil Harvey and Simon Pegg), and a boat full of Coldplaying members holding colourful balloons and singing the song in a choir-like fashion was floating on the river. “The idea for the video was like a magical, surreal theater show with loads of tricks packed in,” frontman Chris Martin said.

The band also invited one hundred lucky fans to be part of the video and sing a small portion of their new song. The loyal one hundred flew to London from all over the globe for this special boat trip across the River Thames and an exclusive first listen to the much anticipated new track from Coldplay. The devoted fans gladly braved the blistery winter chill on the outdoor boat deck holding balloons in the air which were to be released whilst singing in a choir-like fashion.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Mince Spies (2001, released only to the Coldplay fan club), consists of a cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and a remix of “Yellow”, limited to 1000 copies worldwide. 16 years later, the track was finally released to the masses on streaming platforms worldwide.

The track was recorded for Jo Wiley's BBC Radio 1 session. It would be some years before Coldplay attempted their own Christmas song, but this was certainly very good training…

White Christmas

Coldplay has played "White Christmas" multiple times at different concerts and shows throughout the year. Perhaps the best version is from Coldplay's show in Berlin on 21st December 2011. Oxfam released the video to celebrate thousands of fans joining the GROW food justice campaign on the December leg of the Mylo Xyloto tour.

Last Christmas

Coldplay's famous Christmas video messages only lasted a few years but while they did, the band usually got up to some crazy antics. In 2007 they gave fans an acoustic version of Wham's Last Christmas. Those Jonny fans out there will love this video as it features Jonny's majestic moustache and cap while playing "some tambourine thing!"

Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid 20

Band Aid 20 was the 2004 incarnation of the charity group Band Aid. The group, which included Daniel Bedingfield, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Bono of U2, and Paul McCartney, re-recorded the 1984 song "Do They Know It's Christmas?", written by Band Aid organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. The song was recorded on 14 November 2004, to benefit Sudan's troubled Darfur region, and was released that same month. The single became the UK's biggest seller of 2004 as well as the Christmas number one.

Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid 30

Band Aid 30 is the 2014 incarnation of the charity supergroup Band Aid. The group was announced on 10 November 2014 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, with Geldof stating that he took the step after the United Nations had contacted him, saying help was urgently needed to prevent the 2014 Ebola crisis in Western Africa spreading throughout the world. As in previous incarnations, the group covered the track "Do They Know It's Christmas?", written in 1984 by Geldof and Ure, this time to raise money towards the Ebola crisis in Western Africa. The track has re-tweaked lyrics to reflect the current Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa with all proceeds going towards battling what Geldof described as a "particularly pernicious illness because it renders humans untouchable and that is sickening".

The song was recorded by some of the biggest-selling current British and Irish pop acts, including One Direction, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora. Bastille and Guy Garvey of Mercury prize-winning band Elbow were also on board, along with Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Bono (U2)—the third time he has contributed to a Band Aid recording.

A Ghost/Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

A ghost was played once by Chris Martin on American radio station KCRW on 10 December 2001. The song was intended for A Rush of Blood to the Head but trashed. Although the track isn't seen as "Christmassy", it does transition into Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas which puts it on our list!

Gold in Them Hills

This is one of those unintentionally Christmas sounding tracks that fit in perfectly to this list. This collaboration between Ron Sexsmith and Chris Martin came about in 2002. 

“Chris was asking Ron all kinds of questions because Ron was one of his songwriting heroes, and Ron mentioned that he writes a lot of songs at the laundromat. Chris asked, ‘Don’t you have a washing machine at your house?’ Ron replied, ‘I don’t have a house. I rent an apartment; I can't afford a house.’ And Chris Martin looked like he was going to faint.”

Christmas With The Kangaroos

While on tour in Australia in 2016, Chris wrote a Christmas track in his dressing room before the show. Written solely around Christmas in Australia, the crowd seemed to adore the track, cheering after every lyric sung!

So just who is this talented team at @Coldplayedits and why are they generously sharing their time and talents with fans? Here is how flockofbirds222, a.k.a. Emilia explained it.

Emilia's Inspiration

"I've always enjoyed to draw or work with editing programs on the computer." Like many of us, responsibilities took her away from this love of art, but it was Coldplay and their fandom that inspired her to put on her creative hat and apply her talents to making edits. While @coldplayedits has been around awhile, flockofbirds222 joined the team about a year ago.  Since another team member briefly stepped away, flock has been doing most of the edits.  Lucky for her, she now has help again to keep up with the demand her skills have generated!

Originally inspired by an edit she made for herself, Emilia had an idea: Why not build on everyone's excitement about Kaleidoscope and offer us the chance to send in the words we would like on our own covers? Brilliant! Expecting a meagre 10 or so responses to her offer on Twitter, Emilia was pleasantly shocked by the number of requests. "It makes me so happy that so many people like my idea."

A Sense of Purpose

She adds, "Creating things is where I can forget time and feel like I have a purpose." Self-taught, she started doing edits on a phone app and keeps learning by trying new things that bring her joy. To aspiring artists, flock has this to say: "I think that's the most important thing to remember is do what you feel passionate about. It doesn't matter if others seem to be better at it, what matters is if you like it."

Our editing wizard, flockofbirds222 also posts her art on Instagram at justaflockofbirds. To her favourite band, she has this message, "I am grateful to Coldplay because, without them, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing." I am embroiled in an imbroglio; exactly which version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” did Coldplay record for the limited edition EP Mince Spies, back in 2001? Was it the one that you have on the time line on this site, which is also the one that was recently (re-)aired, and put up for download, by Radio 1, who said Chris had come especially to record it in their studio, or is it the version where Chris says at the beginning of it “This is take 4 of Have yourself a merry christmas, just for *something sounding like “Kay”* Rock, Los Angeles. Ready?”, which is also the version to be found on Youtube, adorned by a cover of the EP, when you search for “Coldplay have yourself a merry little christmas”?

I know I have a habit of writing criminally long sentences. Apologies.

It was the former version you mention. Recorded for a radio 1 Christmas show session that appeared on the Mince Spies CD. The latter was a recording for an American radio station KROQ.

Major changes have been made to the Coldplaying forums, as some of you may have already noticed. This comes after major issues with the forums, over the past week. Our site developer, Stephen (Stephend2000) has kindly been working to bring the forums back up and the best option was to migrate from Vbulletin4 to Xenforo. This in turn fixed many issues and the new forum will be more stable for the site in the long term.

The change to Xenforo was something we've been considering for the future and while it's not happened at the most convenient time, it's faster, more stable and is fully mobile compatible and is considered by many to be the best option for an internet forum. The downside is the customization that's disappeared from the removal of Vbulletin. Several of the desktop features, such as the chatbox, extra smilies, profile info will have disappeared but there are many new options we'll have for the new forum version, so we'll look to bring some features back (if possible) and also add helpful new ones!

The forums are ready to use again, so you can freely discuss 'A Head Full Of Dreams' and catch up with all the recent news. While using the new messageboards, please let us know if you discover any bugs/glitches.

More Halloween Madness, On Our Community Forums!

Santa returns to the Coldplaying forums for Christmas 2015. He doesn't have a copy of 'A Head Full Of Dreams' i'm afraid but he's here to inform you of secret Santa 2015 and spread the festive cheer! It's basically your opportunity to exchange Christmas cards with other Coldplayers, from around the globe.

You are now able to choose if you want your card sent to someone within the same continent. This makes it easier for anyone who has postage restrictions or is unable to afford postage fees for far away destinations.

Secret Santa is an on-going tradition for many years in the Coldplaying community and we're looking forward to seeing many photos of the lovely Christmas greetings!

The Coldplaying forums have just hit the huge milestone of 100,000 members! Yes, over the period of 15 years, we've had 100k accounts created. The first one was an admin account created in the year 2000 by Busybeeburns A.K.A Ian, who managed the whole of Coldplaying.com for a magnificent 14 years! The site was then sold in April 2014 and I've been running it from that point (Sparky).

Back in 2005 (when I originally signed up), the Coldplaying forums were not the largest as Coldplay.com had it's own official forum. Usually, most fans would have come from those forums first, including myself. CPing was seen as a more tight-knit community and a place for fans to browse through multimedia/un-purchasable downloads, along with Coldplaybootlegs. When the official forums closed in 2006, Coldplaying became the center of the community for Coldplay fans and the activity increased. There have been so many great times over the years, with all of the multimedia contributions, polls, discussions/debates and live concert threads. I'm sure no one forgets the chaos which took place every time an album was streamed or leaked. Thousands and thousands of fans flooding onto the forums, the servers working on overdrive and crashing every 10 minutes! I'm sure there's some of you who remember the Coldplay fan invasion on the Justin Timberlake forums, when 'VLVODAAHF' leaked and that huge mega thread just before the 'Ghost Stories' release, which eventually imploded from the sheer weight of all the posts! Many great times and we hope for many more during the 'A Head Full Of Dreams' era :)

Like any forum, it's also had huge challenges to face such as spam, disruptive behavior and inactivity at certain points but Ian maintained it and we wouldn't of had so many great moments if it wasn't for him. All of the moderators who have helped run the forums over years deserve great recognition too! Our feature, Coldplaying asks Coldplay is currently on hold until further notice. We asked you to submit questions to propose to the band themselves and the winner was voted on. A selection of the top questions have been collected, ready to ask Coldplay but they can't answer any questions for us at the moment because they're fully focused on recording their new album and are "working very hard".

We've got a selection of your questions ready, so when the band start promoting again, we'll resume. It might not be in the same format as you've seen previously (with one question), so we may have a bigger surprise for you on the way ;)

Freshly uploaded audio, from a handful of Coldplay concerts during the 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' tour and the 'Twisted Logic' tour have been kindly re-uploaded (old links died a while back) by 'Lukestar1991'. These include: Savvis Center, St. Louis (2002), National Indoor Arena, Birmingham (2002), Earl's Court, London (2005) and the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Charlotte, NC (2005).

We've reached a landmark for the number of downloads of our new mobile app. 'Coldplaying' has been downloaded and installed over 1,000 times on the Google Play (Android) store since it's launch, a few months ago! The current figure on the Android platform stands at 1,030 downloads, while the iOS app has a figure of 750 downloads, bringing the total figure of Coldplaying app downloads to 1780!

Thanks for downloading the app and we hope you're enjoying it. If you haven't tried the app yet, you can find more info here. The app will come into its own during the next tour, when you can discuss every concert and if even meet up with other Coldplayers, so we're very excited for the future of the app!

A call to the Football fans among us! Join us for the 2015/2016 season Coldplaying Fantasy Football League. The free game is available through the official fantasy.premierleague.com website (they also have an app for it). You receive a budget and within that budget, you can sign 16 players and throughout the season, you can manage that team, make transfers and check your progress against other Coldplayers in our league!

Wikicoldplay.com is back! The comprehensive encyclopedia had been offline for around a year but after some much needed development work (with huge thanks to Stephend2000!), WikiColdplay is back online, in it's full former glory.

We posted about Wikicoldplay, our sister site recently but we've made some changes since then, so that it's available for everyone. The main change is the mobile friendly view, which was sorely lacking before. You can visit WikiColdplay on your mobile's browser or through the new 'WikiColdplay' option on the Coldplaying app!.

There's additional, updated content now, with an accurate Coldplay discography and new song pages, for tracks like 'Miracles'.

We still need your help though, to update certain pages like Ghost Stories and Ghost Stories Live 2014 (pages need updating are listed on the homepage). If you would like to help out, you can register for an account, here.

We are very happy to announce that Wikicoldplay, our sister site is back online! The comprehensive Coldplay Wikipedia had been offline for almost a year, as the software needed upgrading and a migration from Mediawiki to Wordpress had been planned, to make the site more mobile friendly and easier to use.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Stephend2000, on our forums, who is a developer and has kindly helped us out with updating the site and the current transition towards Wordpress.

The 'old school' Mediawiki software is still in use, while we migrate the site in the background. Hopefully, we'll be able to bring you the new and updated Wikicoldplay.com in a few weeks.

In the meantime, we need your help to update the site, from the beginning of the 'Ghost Stories' era, up until the pre-LP7 era of the present. To offer a hand, you can visit this forum thread.

'Spraycan Soul' on the Coldplaying forums has pieced together a map of Coldplay fans across the world! This gives us a picture (literally!) of just how diverse Coldplay's fanbase is. It's a lovely little project, in which your help is needed. Simply post where you are from and your favourite Coldplay song to add your pin to the map.

'Spraycan Soul' posted the first version, a few weeks ago. He's had many more responses since then (an estimated 400 so far!) and has updated the map to version 2, featuring 46 snaps!

You'll notice a Facebook feed to the right of the page and a brand new poll. On the forums, there's a new Twitter feed, Instagram feed and a Tinypic Image uploader.

The gallery of Coldplay fans from across the world

We are pleased to announce the completion of the Coldplaying.com gallery. We have over 125,000 Coldplay images, within 90 albums to get very nostalgic over! There are photos you may come across, which haven't been seen by Coldplayers for a long time. For those who follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you will see some golden oldies pop up from the collection. You can also share your favourite pics from the gallery by tweeting them to us @coldplaying or posting to our Facebook wall.

The homepage slider (on desktop version) has also been updated with gallery photos

All credit goes to the fans who have taken photos for the live concert galleries, over the last 15 years, to the amazing photographers who have worked with the band and especially to the former-owner, Ian (Busybeeburns), along with Tifosi. They migrated the images from the old Coldplaying sites to our current server and amassed this huge collection over 14 years! I can't thank them enough for all of this Coldplay history, in image format.
