Munich Memories of a Lifetime

Imagine you make a sign and were actually allowed to bring it into Munich's Olympiastadium for Tuesday's Coldplay AHFOD European tour leg. Given the strict unannounced ban on bringing all bags, umbrellas, etc. into the stadium, this in itself is a good start to the evening. Now pretend that during the show, your sign caught Chris Martin's eye. Pretty unlikely, no? When Chris takes you up on your sign's offer to play Everglow for you and calls you the B-stage, then invites you to take his place at the keyboards....now your life just changed!

For one very lucky piano-playing young man, Ferdinand Schwartz, that is exactly what happened. It gets better. He overcame what to anyone would require nerves of steel to play what Chris termed a "German/British Union", encouraging keeping Europe together (BREXIT, anyone?). As soon as Ferdinand struck his first chords, Chris joked that he (Chris) might as well go home!

Ferdinand beautifully played the entire piece, with a highlight coming around 4:20 into the video, when he perfectly handled the piano interlude. Chris cued him to quietly lead into the Martin Luther King recording, which he adeptly did. In a very classy move, Ferdinand took to Twitter to show his gratitude to Chris, calling it one of the most beautiful memories of his life. Indeed, Coldplay fans are taking his cue and there will surely be some crash keyboard lessons and sign-making ahead of future shows.

Magical memory #2 was for the entire Munich crowd, Chris's announcement that they were all taking part in the filming of part of the Something Just Like This video. Showing a box made for the video, Chris revealed that another lucky young man would be acting the part of the child in the video. The band, meanwhile, would play a part of the song twice, once for the video. The video is due out in two weeks. Post-show speculation on the Forums is that something may not have worked out, as the band did not repeat any of the song. Apparently, their young star was not having anything of the second take the band and producer Matt Whitecross wanted. After the show, Chris decided to forego the usual cart ride and ran past the audience. All of which make the start to this European leg even more memorable!

2017 #AHFODTour Special Guests Announced

Coldplay have announced the special guests for their upcoming A Head Full of Dreams Tour in Asia, Europe and North America. Below is an excerpt from Coldplay's blog post:

In Asia, Jess Kent will support at all shows – apart from Tokyo, where Radwimps will open.

Then, in Europe, AlunaGeorge will be main support in Munich, Lyon, Hannover, Brussels and Dublin, with Tove Lo taking that slot in Vienna, Leipzig, Warsaw, Frankfurt, Milan and Paris. Meanwhile, Mew will be the main support in Gothenburg and Embrace in Cardiff. The opening slot on the European tour will be taken by Femme Schmidt (Munich, Hannover, Frankfurt) and Lyves (all other dates).

For the August dates in North America, AlunaGeorge is main support, with Izzy Bizu opening. Then for the September/October shows, Tove Lo will be main support, with Alina Baraz playing the opening slot.

Coldplay Tickets SOLD OUT in 30 minutes!

Tickets for Coldplay's show in Croke Park sold out in just under 30 minutes!

Coldplay fans around Europe had many devices stuck on the dreaded "Sit tight" screen on ticketmaster this morning. Many were disappointed while some were able to snag tickets to the summer tour.

Second dates were announced for Cardiff on 12th July, Brussels on 22nd June, Paris on 16th July, Gothenburg on 26th June, Frankfurt on 1st July and Milan on 4th July!! However there has been no additional dates added for Dublin which sold out in less than 30 minutes today.

Make sure to book your accommodation here before all the hotels become fully booked!

Coldplay Tease 2017 North America and Canada Tour

UPDATE: Dates have been announced, see our 2017 World Tour Guide for dates!

Just as we thought Coldplay were finished announcing their 2017 dates, they tease us with a bunch of North America and Canadian states and provinces!

In typical Coldplay fashion, the band sent out a tweet containing all the states and provinces they will be visiting on their upcoming tour. Included in that list is New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Quebec, Ontario, Texas, Florida, Washington, Alberta, British Colombia, Oregon and California.

We can expect them to announce the dates next week but in the meantime, keep an eye on our 2017 World Tour Guide for the latest ticket updates, accommodation and more!

Coldplay 2017 World Tour Guide: Coldplay Announce Tour in Europe, USA and Canada

Coldplay fans almost dropped their phones with excitement as the band releases their 2017 tour line up!

After the huge success of 2016's A Head Full of Dreams Tour, Coldplay are back with their 2017 tour! The wait is over for those living in Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Ireland & Wales as the band tweeted a Gif containing the flags of each of these countries at around 2pm Friday. The band also tweeted out a bunch of USA and Canadian dates for New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Quebec, Ontario, Texas, Florida, Washington, Alberta, British Colombia, Oregon and California.

With all Coldplay announcements, the dreaded s-word was used at the end of an email fans received this morning. "Futher 2017 #AHFODtour dates will be announced soon." We can only hope for more dates scattered around the world. Tell us where you would like to see Coldplay perform next on our forums!
