'A Head Full Of Dreams' & Coldplay's Next Tour - What We've Learned So Far!

    Coldplay new album and tour

A Head Full Of Dreams will be Coldplay's seventh record and is expected to launch the band back to total world domination, as the British superstars explore new musical horizons. The band's next world tour is also looming, with Coldplay looking set to return to Latin America. We will take you through what we've learned so far.

'A Head Full Of Dreams' tour

Let's start off with Coldplay's upcoming world tour.

Firstly, We don't know whether it will be named after their seventh LP but we do know from Chris that a global tour will follow the release of the album! Enjoyed jumping around to Charlie Brown during the Mylo Xylotour? 'AHFOD' will contain songs that 'you can shuffle your feet to' so no doubt, there will be some 'dancey'/energetic tunes to adds to Coldplays live bow, which also consists of A Sky Full Of Stars and Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.

Coldplay are tipped to visit Italy, Turkey, India and will certainly be returning to Latin America, after a cancelled tour in 2013. A reputable Brazilian journalist only just 'confirmed' Coldplay's tour in Brazil (along with neighboring countries), scheduled for March 2016! This is coupled with consistent rumours beforehand, including concert 'negotiations' with the president of the Gremio arena in Porto Alegre. We shouldn't take this as official confirmation and the only time we'll know for sure is when Coldplay announce the tour but we sense that an announcement won't be too far away.

Xylobands are likely to return, as we saw during the BBC Music Awards and will be flashing in multiple colours. The Mylo Xyloto tour cost Coldplay $7m in Xylobands and they had to play many shows 'effectively for free' as a result. A huge investment but an absolute massive return for the both the band to play in front of them and for the fans to be part of the stunning visuals the Xylobands create.

The Why Not People? disability friendly Gig which is planned for this year, will feature the band and is tipped to kick off their tour, as numerous media sources report.

Coldplay are a confirmed act for the Global Citizen Festival in New York on 26th September 2015, as the band step in as 'backup'. They will perform a short set-list and it's not likely to be part of their upcoming tour preparations.

The Album Title - 'A Head Full Of Dreams'

The title was revealed by frontman, Chris Martin at the BBC Radio 1 studios (Zane Lowe's show) on December 5th 2014. This announcement was controversial among his fellow band mates and for the lead guitarist, Jonny Buckland in particular, who released his once in a decade occurring fit of rage upon Chris.

Chris Martin : He took away my microphone away for about an hour. He said no singing for you!

Chris mentioned the album title again, in a recent tweet, along with citing legendary Norwegian band, A-Ha as a major influence on them, including their song, 'Hunting High and Low',

. The mention of their Norwegian producers refers to record producing duo, Stargate.

    Collaborations & Producers

Since the recording of 'Miracles' in 2014, Coldplay have been working with Stargate (Not for the TV series, SG-1!). The Norwegian producers are veterans of the pop industry, working with the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry, along with Blue and Atomic Kitten in the early 00's. This could be an indication of the band's musical direction, along with their desire to break 'barriers' within the music industry, crafting together Stargate's glossy pop with Jonny Buckland's sweltering riffs and melodies.

Grammy Award winning sound mixing engineer, Phil Tan has confirmed his involvement with 'A Head Full Of Dreams'. His musical resume is similar to Stargate's, being more pop orientated. Phil boasts a huge wealth of experience, featuring on over 250 album credits (Iggy Azalea and Mariah Carey to name a few). This comes from a recent on-air interview:

String arranger/composer, Davide Rossi has returned to work with Coldplay once again. He has previously collaborated with the guys on their greatest hits, 'Viva La Vida' and 'Paradise'. You read the recent Coldplaying.com intrerview with Davide, here.

Rik Simpson continues to be a mainstay within Coldplay's camp and is helping to produce the future record.

    Coldplay Rihanna

Unless Chris has since changed his mind, he answered "we will" when asked whether another artist will feature on Coldplay's seventh album. Among the artists who could feature, Rihanna is largely tipped as Chris mentioned he would like the Diamonds hitmaker to flex her vocals for a particular Coldplay song to Fresh 102.7 New York. Other artists who have been linked and have received praise from members of Coldplay are electronic duo, Disclosure and singer, Sam Smith.

    The musical direction of LP7

Chris Martin has already hinted towards a colourful affair once more and it will certainly be uplifting. The more personal the song is, the more likely it will end up on A Head Full Of Dreams, according to Coldplay’s lead singer, who has been in a buoyant mood in recent times.

The frontman also stated it “will be fun to shuffle your feet a little bit”, in reference to 'A Head Full Of Dreams'.

    Release date

    Coldplay jonny buckland

'A Head Full Of Dreams' is rumoured to have a release date between the fourth quarter (Q4) and the first quarter of 2016 (Q1). Coldplay's record company, Parlophone would prefer a Pre-Christmas release, as album sales are significantly higher at the end of the year. This could mean a chart battle with the likes Emeli Sande and Adele, which would certainly challenge Coldplay's record of six British #1 albums in a row. If the British four piece hit #1 in the UK once more, they'll equal The Beatles' record of seven number 1 albums in a row. 'The world's biggest band' certainly have the firepower for this but if 'A Head Full Of Dreams' falls in early 2016, this will be all but guaranteed.

    Recording Location

Coldplay are believed to have been recording the majority of the album at their studios in Camden, London. Recently, a pictured was posted on Instagram of Chris Martin, at the Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles. It's suggested that Coldplay are recording in the 'City of Angels' over the summer period. A fan, who met Jonny Buckland outside of The Bakery studios in London was apparently told that the band won't be in London 'for the next 2 months'. This led to rumours of the guys taking a break but we understand they are still recording 'A Head Full Of Dreams' and the Henson Studios is likely to be their recording hub for perhaps, the final phase of recording. Incidentally, studio C is currently unavailable, due to a long term booking.
