And the knock-on effect from the event, also hailed a success by organisers Solo, artists, police and the IW Council, should add further millions in coming years.
More than 50,000 people attended the Seaclose Park festival, the fifth revived event, with police praising the behaviour of festival-goers. Artists were among those to declare the event a success.
Promoter John Giddings said: "Backstage, Chris Martin from Coldplay said the audience was phenomenal. He thought it was one of the band's best shows ever. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters has also been on Radio One raving about the event.
