Chris Martin suffers ankle injury whilst surfing in New York

20100227cmsushi2a.jpgChris Martin is sporting a cast on his foot after reportedly injuring himself in a surfing accident. Chris has been spending time in the Hamptons area of New York, hitting the waves in between recording sessions for the band's upcoming album.

But his board time is said to have been hampered after he hurt his right ankle last week and he has been photographed wearing a cast while he recovers from the injury, according to The Sun.

The Sun wrote: "It looks like Chris is a happy man at the moment. He even pulled off some ridiculous squat poses for the cameras. It's great to see him looking so relaxed. It might be down to his new fitness regime, which he has stepped up in the past few months. He has been surfing every morning and hitting the gym - until injury struck. The surf dude mentality is also creeping into their music, with a real change of direction on their new album. After the epic feel of Viva La Vida, the new material is a more stripped-back affair with an acoustic feel."
