Chris Martin turns down 'Neighbours' cameo

chrismartin2008a.jpgColdplay frontman Chris Martin has turned down an offer from Neighbours producers to make a cameo appearance. According to fansite Perfect Blend, Martin, who is currently touring Australia with Coldplay, was given a choice of three dates by producers but was unable to fit the appearance into his schedule.

"He's a mad Neighbours fan, but unfortunately it just didn't work with the schedule this time," a spokeswoman for the soap said. Meanwhile, professional wrestler Dave 'Batista' Bautista filmed a cameo role earlier this week with the soap while in Australia on a promotional tour.

But Chris still got some time with his Ramsay St favourites at his belated 32rd birthday bash after the band's show at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. He had invited Neighbours cast members Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, Kym Valentine, Stefan Dennis and Carla Bonner to the party. The soap stars attended the show as guests of the band before being shepherded to a secret location for the party, which was a traditional Aussie barbecue, with a selection of fish and chargrilled vegies for Martin, who calls himself a piscetarian.
