Coldplay's wonderful show at the Ace Hotel, LA (Review)

Coldplay's wonderful show at the Ace Hotel, LAMatt Bellamy, Vladamir Putin, Jennifer Lawrence and an elegant arena at the Ace Hotel Theater for a wonderful Coldplay show in downtown Los Angeles. No, the controversial Russian prime minister wasn't present at the show but Chris Martin dropped an amusing reference about Vlad smoking a cigar while listening to Coldplay on his wireless radio! He also gave some love to the Muse frontman, Matt Bellamy who was a guest at the show. Jennifer Lawrence, who is rumoured to be dating Chris Martin was spotted up on the balcony and leaving the concert. All within a concert which was a triumphant return for the whole band who have been away from the spotlight for a short time. The concert was mainly a private affair, with few public tickets available. The band took to the intimate theater upon a standing ovation at 8.30pm PT with their beautiful opening from 'Ghost Stories', 'Always In My Head' bringing the stage to life followed by the uplifting and riff-laden 'Charlie Brown'. The gig was slightly shorter than the band's performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with the same setlist minus two 'Parachutes' tracks, 'Don't Panic' and 'Everything's Not Lost'.
After an extended sing-a-long during 'Magic', Chris entertained the crowd with a White House and Putin reference, followed by 'Clocks'.Chris, in a Muse inspired mood, covered their song, 'Madness' in a bizarre fashion while rocking out to 'Clocks' who was dedicated the song on the night to the Muse frontman. 'Madness' of course helped inspire 'Magic' and the similarities are apparent. Speaking of 'Magic', Chris told a fan in the audience "You can twerk if you want"! A highlight of the night was once again, Jonny Buckland's heroics on the guitar, during 'True Love' which wowed the Muse frontman, Matt Bellamy.

@DeadDementia: @MattBellamy How was Coldplay”. They were great last night, 'true love' is great live, love the guitar solo
