Oasis and Coldplay tribute bands Noasis and Coldplace have embarked in a war of words with each other ahead of this Sunday’s outdoor Jedi Festival. The two tribute acts have followed in the footsteps of their idols, by both claiming they will steal the show at Southport’s Victoria Park, writes ItsGoodToBeFree.com.
Shane Crofts aka Chris Martin said, “We don’t like to blow our own trumpet, we leave it to the crowd to decide how good we are – but we have played all over the world. We’ve played with Bob Geldof in Malta and in the Dominican Republic. Noasis are bound to say they are better but we think that we are. There is a football cage at the festival so maybe we can decide it there.”
James Cropley aka Noel Gallagher hit back saying, “They can say they will steal the show but they won’t be successful. We will blow them out of the water. We don’t know who is headlining yet but put it this way; I wouldn’t envy anyone that’s on after us.”
Liam Gallagher has spoken many times about his distaste for Coldplay and lead singer Chris Martin. In 2003 he slammed Chris for restating his anti-war views at a Teenage Cancer Trust benefit show.
He said, “When Coldplay did this gig they banged on about the war, that’s wrong. Chris Martin shouldn’t be using this cause to bang on about his own views on the war. If him and his gawky bird want to go banging on about the war they can do it at their own gigs. That lot are just a bunch of knobhead students – Chris Martin looks like a geography teacher. What’s all that with writing messages about Free Trade on his hand when he’s playing. If he wants to write things down I’ll give him a pen and a pad of paper. Bunch of students. These gigs are about kids who have got cancer, they’ve got to fight a war every day of their lives. That’s what we’re all here doing this for.”
