Gwyneth Paltrow, the Oscar-winning actress and wife of Chris Martin, has threatened to press criminal charges against photographers who follow her in London.
Paltrow, who gave birth to her daughter Apple in May, said the paparazzi were "endangering" her and her child by chasing her on the roads. She has started recording the names of photographers who follow her most regularly.
"In London, they chase you in cars, and I will start pressing charges because they're endangering me by the way they drive. It's really scary. It's just unacceptable, especially when there's a life of a small baby in your hands."Gwyneth Paltrow, 31, said her husband Chris Martin, the singer in the band Coldplay, is more "physically protective" of her, their child and their home. Last year Martin, 27, was accused of vandalising a photographer's car during an altercation in Australia, although police later dropped the charges, although there were rumours that this was because of his performance on the surfboard.
Paltrow said the paparazzi's fascination with her family's life had intensified following the birth of Apple. "It's really frustrating. I wish people would just let us get on with it once in a while and let us have a normal day together."
Her biggest fear is how Apple will react when she is old enough to understand that the family is under such scrutiny. "It worries me more when she's aware of what's going on," she said. "The idea of us leaving the house and there being paparazzi and her being startled by it or asking what it is and why they're there - I don't know what I'm going to say."
