Presenting Tre Lux - Switchblade Symphony’s Tina Root covers Coldplay

trelux.jpgCleopatra Records is proud to unveil the long awaited solo project by Switchblade Symphony vocalist Tina Root and her solo project Tre Lux. This 12-track collection reflects Tina’s eclectic musical interests featuring inspired covers of Ministry, Coldplay, Duran Duran and Soundgarden among others.

With Tre Lux, Tina showcases her new musical venture which is an extension of the dark sounds Switchblade fans are accustomed to. “Switchblade Symphony was a beautiful catastrophe of ideas and melody. At times it was a bit overwhelming and since Tre Lux is just me, I’m all about breaking down internal barriers with the freedom to act on impulse without worrying what other’s will think,” states Root.

She also adds, “Because Tre Lux is a reflection of me, the end result will be ever changing…”

During the 90s, Switchblade Symphony was at the forefront of the gothic music movement. Hailing from San Francisco, the band was founded by Tina Root and Susan Wallace. Switchblade signed to indie label Cleopatra Records in 1995 and through constant touring and word of mouth, the band became underground club favorites. Their debut record, Serpentine Gallery was a college radio and club favorite charting on CMJ’s RPM charts. With combined sales of over 140,000 records sold and features in such mags as CMJ and Alternative Press, the band’s fan-base grew at an alarming rate. They toured all over North America performing with notables Sisters Of Mercy and Christian Death as well as with the godfather of electro Gary Numan, even venturing over to Japan. After three full-length albums, numerous tours and at the height of their popularity, the band went their separate ways.

With A Strange Gathering, Tina has fun exploring some of her earlier influences while preparing to unleash a new Tre Lux record of all original material. “A Strange Gathering really motivated me to get back in the studio. I had so much fun recording it and it made me realize how much I miss making music. I’m currently working on the next Tre Lux record so prepare to be surprised,” gushes Tina.
