[Rare] Chris Martin performs at Make Trade Fair launch in 2002

A rare archived video from 2002 has appeared on Youtube this week. While the generosity of Coldplay's lead singer has been on show lately, via his work with Global Citizen and Oxfam India, he has always being at the forefront of famous charity campaigns. The video we've posted (courtesy of AP Archive), shows Chris Martin at the launch of Make Trade Fair, on April 11th 2002, talking about the campaign and performing a cover of Jimmy Cliff's, 'Many Rivers to Cross'

Here's the quote from Chris' interview, on that day:

I grew up watching comic relief things and it is so far away and poverty looks so glamorous on TV, then I got to Haiti and thought bloody hell this country really is being ruined by whatever reasons. In this case bad trade and a lot of corruption, they are just crippled.

The Make Trade Fair campaign has always been close to the band's hearts, with Chris famously donning the 'MTF' logo on his right hand, along with the side of his piano, primarily during the 'X&Y' era.
