[X10Y] 10 years of X&Y - Coldplay announce new album and single

Welcome to 10 years of X&Y!

    Coldplay X&Y

    Official hashtag - #X10Y.

Over the coming year, Coldplaying.com will take you back to the magical X&Y era! The music, announcements, the leaks, live shows, astounding facts and figures....X&Y has it all. Our concert archive of photos will be updated over the course of the era to reveal the historic images, many which you will not find online anymore in 2015.  Not to mention fan-made art and song edits, to give this a slight twist! You can relive the outstanding era and be part of the experience on the messageboards. We have a dedicated 10 years of X&Y forum. Any topics which have the [X10Y] tag, will be in that moment, as if it was happening right now! (Present tense). Any topics without the tag will be in past tense. Same goes for this main site too.

What's so special about today then? Today marks the beginning of the X&Y era, as Coldplay announced the details of their third album on March 11th 2005. The revelation had dispelled the rumours of Zero Theory being the album title, with track names such as Deja Vu and Echo My Name (I Can’t Believe You’re Gone) not appearing on the final cut

Warning sign - You are embarking on a trip, back to 10 years ago, when the original X&Y announcement was made:

    Coldplay Speed of Sound

Coldplay’s massively anticipated new album will be entitled ‘X&Y’ and the first single to be released from it will be called ‘Speed Of Sound’.

Coldplay’s new album, the follow-up to 2002’s 16 million selling ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’, will be entitled ‘X&Y’ and will be released by Parlophone Records on June 6. The album will also be preceded by the new single, ‘Speed Of Sound’ on May 23.

‘X&Y’ was recorded over the past year at studios in the UK and has been produced by Danton Supple (Morrissey, Elbow), Ken Nelson (Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Convenience) and the band themselves.

Easily the most album anticipated release of 2005, ‘X&Y’ sees Coldplay building on their previous achievements while resisting the temptation to repeat themselves.

“We wanted to try new things out, to move our sound along,” explained Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland,

But the focus remains on the songs, and Chris [Martin]’s voice is sounding amazing. Everyone is playing at the top of their game.
