On the strength of the songs “Shiver”, “Yellow”, and the follow-up song “Trouble”, Coldplay did take the reigns as England’s most popular export, taking over from Oasis and Radiohead.
Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and The Stone Roses, Martin formed the band as a student at the University College of London. Their sound, a mix of shimmering guitars, keyboards, and Chris Martin’s beautiful voice has often been compared to Radiohead. However, while their debut album may have pegged them as disciples of that band, Coldplay’s latest proves they are more than “Radiohead Lite”.
A Rush Of Blood To The Head is Coldplay’s masterful follow-up, an exhilarating album filled with imaginative and emotionally powerful songs like “The Scientist”, “Clocks”, and “Green Eyes”.
