Another tongue-in-cheek interview from Chris Martin has hit the internet on the same day that Coldplay added a second Sydney show in November. Due to overwhelming demand, Coldplay will play a second show at the Sydney Allianz Stadium on Sunday, 18th November (the day after the previously announced show). Chris Martin has admitted that the gimmick is costing the band a fortune and the band have considered asking for them back at the end of gigs – but lawyers have warned that they risk being sued if they use the same wristbands.
Martin said: "Most of the money we’re earning on the tour is put into the wristbands. We have to figure out how to keep it going without going broke because it’s a crucial part of the concert."
The band have been touring their latest album 'Mylo Xyloto' since October last year, and have handed out colourful glowing wristbands to every member of the audience ever since. But, while the wristbands give the crowd and incredible pulsating glow of colour, they've also left a bit of a hole in Chris Martin and co.'s collective pocket. Chris said: "You have to clean everything in case someone picks up herpes or TB. Our lawyers told us we’d get sued, and having been sued a few times we’re not keen on that."
Chris Martin also discussed mobile phones at concerts – admitting that people sending text during gigs irks him. He said: "The only thing I fear is texting. If they are texting they are not enjoying the music."
