Chris Martin caused a stir in Dublin in the early hours of Friday (October 25) when he showed up at HMV to buy the new David Gray album at a special midnight opening, say nme.com.
Gray has a massive following in Ireland, and to celebrate the fact, HMV on Grafton Street opened at midnight offering fans the chance to buy one of 100 signed copies of 'A New Day At Midnight'. Several hundred braved the cold and rain. Just as staff were readying to close up around 1am, Chris arrived asking if he could buy five copies of the album - Coldplay had just arrived in Dublin ahead of their shows at the Point Depot in the city.
Once staff recognised him, they let him in. Chris was offered five complimentary copies of the album, but insisted on paying. When no money was accepted, he gave the staff the 100 Euros cost and so they could buy themselves a drink.
