Coldplay Go Mobile For Fourth Album

coldplaywave1.jpgIn a brave move, Coldplay have gone down the mobile path to release their latest album.

It's a sign of the times. With digital sales escalating and CD sales dropping, artists are increasingly having to come up with new and interesting ways to hone in on music sales. Coldplay's much-anticipated single Violet Hill along with their album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends will be released via mobile phones.

3 mobile customers will be the first in Australia to get exclusive mobile access to the tracks as part of a mobile partnership with EMI. The full-length track and music video of Violet Hill will be available from 3’s entertainment portal, Planet 3, priced at $3 per download for two weeks from Tuesday 6 May, followed by the ringtone from Wednesday 7 May.

The album will be available from June 14. It’s the fourth album from the Grammy award-winners, and is the follow-up to the 10-million selling success of X & Y. 3 mobile customers can be the first to download the Coldplay tracks by SMSing “Cold play” to 33 44 55 from your 3 mobile.
