Coldplay May Do 700k in the US, 30k in Australia

vivalavida.jpgColdplay will certainly have the number one album in both the US and Australia next week. In both cases, it will be by miles in front.

First day figures out of the US suggest that 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' is good for maybe 700,000 sales in the US over the next week. In Australia, the album is tracking to sell around 30,000 units.

The US sales come off the back of the record-breaking week for Lil Wayne, who sold more than 1 million units this week. In Australia, this week's chart-topper by Disturbed is still tracking well for number 2 and should sell around 5000 units.

That will give Coldplay a 6 times head start over the number two album next week, if the figures hold. The Coldplay sales come at a time on eminent restructure for EMI Records worldwide. A major evaluation of staff took place a month ago and the ramifications of those staff conversations are expected to kick in next week.
