Coldplay Nominated for Four VMA Awards for Viva La Vida video

vivalavidasong1.jpgSuch is the extent of the Viva La Vida era that Coldplay have received nominations in the same awards two years running - for songs from the same album. Today it was announced that Hype Williams' video for Viva La Vida has been nominated for four awards at this year's MTV VMAs. It's up for Best Rock Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Relive the video that was released last year here at the Coldplay forum. [thanks mimixxx]

You may remember that almost a year ago Coldplay’s ‘Violet Hill’ was nominated for Best Special Effects at the 2008 awards, and in 2007 you may also remember that Chris Martin performed a duet that year with Nelly Furtado.

MTV announced the nominees for the 2009 Video Music Awards today and Lady Gaga and Beyonce lead the pack with nine nods. Following the two divas are: Britney Spears (seven); Kanye West, Eminem, and Coldplay (four each); Green Day (three), and Jay-Z (two). Please vote for Coldplay's Viva La Vida video in the first of those categories by clicking here. The awards will be broadcast live from New York City on Sunday, September 13th at 9pm (EST). The show will be hosted by Russell Brand (again).
