Coldplay Out In The Cold At Novellos

Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall scooped the prize for best song on Thursday at the 51st Ivor Novello music awards for British composers.

Tunstall's song "Suddenly I See", taken from her best-selling album "Eye To The Telescope", took the award for best song musically and lyrically, pipping fellow nominees Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys. Earlier this year Tunstall was declared best female artist at the recording industry's Brits award.

James Blunt picked up two Novello honours, for most performed song and international hit of the year for his "You're Beautiful".

The award for best album went to "Employment" from The Kaiser Chiefs. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett of cartoon band Gorillaz were named songwriters of the year. The Ivor Novello Awards take their name from the Welsh actor, composer and playwright who was one of Britain's biggest stage and screen stars in the early part of the last century.
