Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is Queen of The Raft Awards with an historic four wins including Best Female, Best Album’, Best Newcomer, and Best Website. Not bad for an artist who just over a year ago was relatively unknown!
Since her career defining performance on Later With Jools Holland, KT has gone from strength to strength, firstly being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and now receiving three nominations in the 2006 Brit Awards. Her acclaimed debut album ‘Eye To The Telescope’ has amassed sales of over one million copies in the UK alone.
The undisputed King of Pop, Robbie Williams, proved his staying power taking the Best Male Artist crown while his recent one-off album launch show in Berlin was named Best Live Performance. They are the biggest band in the world so it’s no surprise that Coldplay walked away with Best Group and also Best Single for ‘Fix You’.
Sugababes beat of strong competition Girls Aloud, Westlife and Madonna to be crowned Best Pop Act while the Black Eyed Peas, who have had an exceptional year with their second album ‘Monkey Business’, pipped to the post the likes of Kanye West, 50 Cent, Gorillaz and Lemar to take home the honour of Best Urban Act.
Gorillaz bagged Best Video for ‘Dare’, ‘Lost’ won the battles of the TV shows and the latest installment of the Harry Potter saga, ‘The Goblet Of Fire’, overcame the Force to win Best Film.Check out the full list of winners and runners-up below:
