Coldplay set for September return, at the Global Citizen Festival

Coldplay set for September return, at the Global Citizen Festival

Coldplay are confirmed as performers at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, this September! The band haven't played live since the BBC and NRJ music awards, in December 2014. Chris Martin has billed himself and his band-mates in for the charity concert as a 'last resort', because of other acts, such as Rihanna pulling out of the concert for various reasons. Here's the official line-up, which was rumoured a day before the announcement:

Coldplay return

To summarize:

Coldplay will perform a short set list of songs at the Global Citizen Festival, at Central Park, New York

Festival will take place on Saturday September 26th, with Pearl Jam, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran as main acts.

The British band last performed live in December 2014, at the NRJ music awards in France.

Coldplay stepped in as a 'back up', which is why they are not listed as the main headline act.

You can earn free tickets to the festival. Each challenge you complete counts as an entry and helps towards a great cause! Click here for more info on tickets.

The debut of new Coldplay material seems unlikely, as the band are predicted to play their major hits.
