Coldplay tickets in high demand for South Africa tour (golden circles sold out!)

saflag.jpgGolden Circle tickets for the Coldplay concerts in South Africa have been sold out just an hour after tickets went on sale on Thursday. Big Concerts said since 9am today more than 50,000 fans bought tickets.

The multi-award winning band has two performances scheduled in October at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg and at the Cape Town Stadium. Big Concerts’ John Langford said, "We always expected a big demand for Coldplay and this just underscores that. Clearly they are a band that South Africans want to see and we’re looking forward to them coming in October to filled out stadiums."

Eyewitness News joined fans queuing for tickets at the Waterfront Computicket office in Cape Town. Some people had been waiting at the venue since 1am to ensure they were first in line, should there be any technical glitches. Although there were no technical problems, the snaking lines were slow to move as people bought as much as 20 tickets at a time.

Coldplay will perform two shows on its debut South African tour. The first show is scheduled for Wednesday, 5 October at Cape Town Stadium and the second show for Saturday, 8 October at FNB Stadium Johannesburg.
