Coldplay vs Radiohead: The Grammy Showdown!

grammy.jpgRadiohead are known for helping invent a sub-genre of indie rock (the falsetto-laden, space-age ballad), while Coldplay have described themselves as “incredibly good plagiarists.”

Both make excellent yet similar music, and both stand a chance at bringing home the Grammy for Best Album next week at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Radiohead are nominated for In Rainbows, the album they released after emancipating themselves from their old record company, EMI. Coldplay are nominated for Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, the album EMI hoped would sell enough copies to keep them in business for another year.

Radiohead have won two Grammys in the past, while Coldplay have scored four since debuting in 2000. Both bands are scheduled to perform at the Awards show on February 8th.
