Tim McGraw has sparked rumours that Chris Martin has been taking influence from country music, after revealing that his wife Faith Hill recently wrote a number of songs with the Coldplay frontman, claim DigitalSpy today.
The two families are known to have become close after McGraw starred opposite Martin's wife Gwyneth Paltrow in the recently-released film Country Strong. "My wife is a huge Coldplay fan, and they spent a lot of time writing songs," McGraw told a surprised Chelsea Handler during E!. "I don't want to start any rumours or anything, but I ain't heard any songs yet!"
Martin has previously collaborated with a number of artists outside of the rock genre, including rapper Jay-Z and pop singer Nelly Furtado. Coldplay have spent the past two years working on their currently-untitled fifth studio album.
Meanwhile, Glee star Matthew Morrison has revealed that Coldplay only allowed their songs to be performed on the show after it became a success, again reported by DigitalSpy this weekend.
Morrison made the claim after admitting that Coldplay had initially denied show creator Ryan Murphy use of the band's back catalogue. "In the pilot I was meant to sing 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay but they wouldn't give us the rights," Morrison explained to Contactmusic. "Then, once the show got started Chris Martin called Ryan [Murphy] to apologise and say we could use whichever song we wanted," Morrison continued. "So I hope we'll tackle that one."
Murphy has yet to use any Coldplay songs in the series, despite receiving the band's approval. Glee continues with its second season on February 6 on Fox.
