michaelstipe.jpgMichael Stipe [pictured] was in Austin, Texas Friday for Coldplay's taped performance on venerable music program Austin City Limits, where early reports indicated he might join Chris Martin and his bandmates onstage for a song. Coldplay is currently making the rounds in support of their Grammy-nominated record, X&Y.

 

PBS plans to air the hour-long Austin City Limits concert on December 17th. Please stay tuned for details as they develop.

 

Bertis confirmed this morning that, "Coldplay did a powerful hour-plus show, including 2 songs with Michael: Joseph Arthur's "In the Sun" and Nightswimming" both very compelling and tuneful, and Austin was fun and delicious as ever. The show was too; it should make some special holiday tv next weekend...Michael had a blast, and it was fun to see him back in action and singing a couple of gorgeous songs."
