    Pet Shop Boys cover Viva La Vida at Glastonbury

    vivalavidasong1.jpgPet Shop Boys covered Coldplay during their headlining Glastonbury set last night (June 26). The British pop veterans, playing the event for the first time in 10 years, performed Coldplay's 2008 UK Number One single 'Viva La Vida' as part of their hit-laden set on The Other Stage.

     

    Meanwhile Coldplay themselves are amongst the greatest Glastonbury headliners of all time according to a muzu.tv poll. Their performance in 2002 came ninth in the best Glastonbury acts list. Radiohead and Sir Paul McCartney came first and second respectively. Blur's 2009 headline act came in at third followed by Jay-Z in fourth and David Bowie in fifth for his 2000 show. Sixth place went to Pulp's 1995 show, the White Stripes in 2005 were seventh, with Bruce Springsteen's 2009 headliner eighth, Coldplay in 2002 ninth, and REM's 1999 show ranked 10th.

     

    Another poll, run by BBC6 music puts Coldplay in seventh place, with Blur as their best performance. You can see both lists at the Coldplay Live forum now.
