Loved by millions, hated by just as many it’s Coldplay with the third single from the ridiculously huge ‘X & Y’, ‘Talk’.
Trendy scensters crucify me if you will, but beneath it’s sleeky clean façade, this is actually pretty affecting stuff, buoyed by a stunning melody. Ahem, I’ll get me coat. Admittedly, if you dislike Coldplay for all their MORness and the superficial, shallow tabloid obsession for Chris Martin and his megastar wife, you’ll clearly hate this. But for the rest of us we’ll admire it for what it is - a bloody great song.
On the flip side, the Martin-penned song that single-handedly helped resurrect Embrace’s career ‘Gravity’ is claimed back by the band and is well worth checking out.
